00:02 I know it must be so hard to summon in divorce, but what does this mean to you?

00:06 Well, you know, I I'm sure it's for someone else.

00:11 And I've just come here by mistake.

00:12 That's how you feel, isn't it?

00:13 You know, yeah, no, it's I'm full of gratitude towards the BMI

00:18 for what they have helped me to achieve over these decades.

00:24 And it's been a great partnership.

00:26 And I'm really thrilled that tonight they can honor me in this way.

00:31 Yeah, let's just talk about true.

00:33 First of all, because that's obviously got its 40th anniversary.

00:36 That's yeah.

00:37 Yeah. Yeah.

00:37 When you were making that song, did you ever think it would live on

00:41 and be such a tune even today?

00:43 No. You know, I remember writing that in my bedroom.

00:45 I still live with my mom and dad.

00:47 And and the first person I showed it to is my brother, Martin.

00:50 You know, what do you think of this?

00:51 Is this going to be any good for the for the band?

00:53 It's a bit different, you know.

00:56 No, of course you don't.

00:58 You don't even know if you're going to be in the music business for that long.

01:01 You know, I think at that time the oldest people in the business

01:04 were just in their mid thirties, you know, so it's extraordinary

01:09 to think you're you're part of the ether.

01:12 How proud do you feel when you look back at just how much you've achieved?

01:15 Because everyone has been singing your praises tonight

01:18 and you're so deserving of that.

01:21 You know, it was really because of the band I was in.

01:24 I was lucky to be in this great band with an incredible singer,

01:28 my brother, which made me always feel confident.

01:30 Steve Norman, John Keble, you know, that's

01:33 that's we were very lucky to find this gang that worked for us.

01:39 And I think it's a great record because of those guys.

01:42 What is the secret to writing a good song?

01:45 Faith, you know, you've got to believe you can do it

01:49 and you've got to impress yourself before anyone else.
