00:27 ASF or African Swine Fever is at its peak here in Negros Occidental.
00:31 The supply of pork is possibly running low this holiday season.
00:35 As preparation for the upcoming holiday season,

00:45 The Association of Hog Racers in Negros Occidental conducted an assessment
00:49 with their hog farmers and racers.
00:51 It came out that the number of pigs in the province is not enough.
00:55 It is said that this is due to the effect of the recent case of African Swine Fever.
00:59 Even so, the Negros Occidental Provincial Veterinary Office assured
01:20 that the supply of pork will be sufficient until the holiday season
01:23 because the transportation of pork is limited in other provinces.
01:27 According to the PVO, more than 200,000 pigs are being taken care of in the province.
01:46 In order to recover the hog industry in Negros Occidental
01:50 from the effects of ASF, a recovery plan was issued by Governor Eugenio Cebong-Lacson
01:56 which states that the hog racers will be able to help the provincial government.

02:12 they will be conducting a hog repopulation program in the next year, 2024.
