Central Florida’s Timmy McLain pulls off one of craziest fourth-down conversions ever

Central Florida quarterback Timmy McLain pulled off one of the most impressive fourth down conversions you will ever see in a game. The fact that it wasn’t enough in Central Florida’s 36-35 loss to visiting Baylor on Saturday doesn’t deter the fact that McClain gave his team a chance to gain a comeback win after blowing a big lead. With the Knights facing fourth and 1 from its 30 and 1:02 remaining, McClain retreated all the way back to his own goal line while evading at least four pass-rushers. After narrowly avoiding a safety when a Baylor defender dove at his feet, McClain kept his balance and zipped a pass downfield to a leaping RJ Harvey for the first down.McLain, a redshirt freshman filling in for the injured John Rhys Plumlee, drove Central Florida into field goal range, but it was a long one. Colton Boomer couldn’t quite live up to his last name as he missed a 59-yard field goal on the final play of the game. Making the loss more painful for McLain and coach Gus Malzahn’s Knights (3-2, 0-2 Big 12) was the fact they held a 35-7 lead midway through the third quarter. They also led 35-10 heading into the fourth before the Baylor (2-3, 1-1) scored 26 points in the final quarter to win.McClain completed 13 of 25 passes for 234 yards and two touchdowns.
