00:00 We are deeply concerned by the allegations referenced by Prime Minister Trudeau.
00:04 We remain in close contact with our Canadian partners, as the Secretary said on Friday.
00:10 We believe it's critical that Canada's investigation proceed and that the perpetrators be brought
00:14 to justice.
00:16 And we have publicly and privately urged the Indian government to cooperate in the Canadian
00:20 investigation.
00:21 The United States has once again said that it was deeply concerned by the allegations
00:26 made by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau regarding India's possible involvement in
00:31 the killing of banned Khalistan Tiger Force Chief Hardeep Singh Nijjar and called for
00:36 continued probe into the matter.
00:37 US Department of State spokesperson Matthew Miller reacted to the ongoing India-Canada
00:42 row.
00:43 He said the US has privately and publicly asked India to cooperate in the Canadian investigation.
00:50 We are deeply concerned by the allegations referenced by Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau.
00:54 We remain in close contact with our Canadian partners.
00:58 We believe it's critical that Canada's investigation proceed and that the perpetrators be brought
01:03 to justice.
01:04 We have publicly and privately urged the Indian government to cooperate in the Canadian investigation.
01:11 Tensions between India and Canada have escalated after Trudeau alleged that India was behind
01:16 the killing of Nijjar.
01:18 India has rejected the allegations, calling them absurd and motivated.
01:22 Nijjar, a designated terrorist in India, was killed in Canada's Surrey on June 18.
01:28 Meanwhile, US Representative Jim Costa called for an investigation into the killing of Nijjar.
01:34 In a post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, Costa said, "I am very concerned about reports
01:40 that Canadian Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar was assassinated and I have requested an official
01:45 briefing as a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
01:48 We must fully investigate this crime to determine who should be held accountable."
01:53 Late last week, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the US was deeply concerned
01:57 about the allegations made by Trudeau about the Indian government's involvement in the
02:01 killing of the Khalistani terrorist.
02:03 He said the US wanted to see accountability and called it important that the investigation
02:08 runs its course and leads to the result.
02:11 Blinken said that the US is engaged directly with the Indian government.
02:14 He said that the US is consulting very closely with Canada and coordinating on the issue.
02:20 Blinken refused to give details regarding the diplomatic conversation that the US had
02:24 with both the nations.
02:25 He said that the investigation must move forward and be completed.
02:28 Meanwhile, reacting with the India-Canada diplomatic row, Sri Lankan Foreign Minister
02:32 Ali Sabri said that the terrorists have found safe haven in the North American country and
02:37 Trudeau has this way of coming out with outrageous allegations.
02:41 Sabri told news agency ANI that he is not surprised by his comments as Trudeau comes
02:46 out with outrageous and substantiated allegations.
02:49 Yeah, we have always suffered and some of the terrorists have found safe haven in Canada.
02:56 Canadian Prime Minister has this way of just coming out with some outrageous allegations
03:04 without any supporting proof.
03:06 The same thing they did for Sri Lanka.
03:07 A terrible, total lie about saying that Sri Lanka had a genocide.
03:14 Everybody knows there was no genocide in our country.
03:17 And I saw yesterday he had gone and given a rousing welcome to somebody who have associated
03:24 with the Nazis in the past on the Second World War.
03:27 So this is questionable and we have dealt it in the past.
03:32 We have categorically rejected those outrageous allegations.
03:35 So I am not surprised that sometime Prime Minister Trudeau comes out with outrageous
03:43 and substantiated allegations.
