00:00 Nothing was about money, it was all about a vibe.

00:03 The whole country knew, right, dance music,

00:06 this is where it's going to be,

00:07 this is where it's going to stay for a long time.

00:12 - Music was uplifting.

00:19 It was like, come on, let's celebrate our lives.

00:21 It's party time.

00:23 And people were feeling good about everything.

00:25 - You had the DJ's box where I took in the gods

00:28 and you're looking out over the crowd.

00:30 For some strange reason,

00:31 you connect with every person in the audience.

00:34 They're there to go mad

00:37 and you're there to give them what they want.

00:39 - Turnmills and the gallery had a great atmosphere,

00:44 that was literally like something out of an aquarium

00:46 with the DJ's, the exhibit, it went off, bang.

00:50 had happened while I was up in Hull.

00:52 And I remember coming back down here

00:53 and to my old stomping ground

00:55 and everybody was dancing on that bar

00:57 like it was New Year's Eve.

00:59 - Pouring out into the streets,

01:01 police cars coming along to stop it all,

01:04 setting off their sirens,

01:05 everyone dancing around the police cars going,

01:07 "Nancy, Nancy!"

01:21 - Probably Your Love by Frankie Knuckles.

01:23 End of the night, not a screamer, more of a hugger.

01:29 - There used to be queues down the block.

01:32 Everyone was doing the mad dancing, it was packed.

01:34 - The sound was phenomenal.

01:36 And you was like looking down at everyone,

01:37 it was like fantastic.

01:38 And the big iron bars for it,

01:40 it's so industrial, it just went off in there.

01:41 - We just drove off from Paris to Nottingham,

01:45 you know, took the ferry.

01:46 And that was how good these clubs were.

01:49 - I'd seen it before with hip hop

01:51 and new romantics and all this stuff.

01:53 And it was the same thing.

01:55 It was something very small but very special

01:58 and the people were really, really into it.

02:00 - They were great, great times.

02:03 A great period, and not just in my life,

02:05 in everyone's life.

02:06 And we'll never, ever see those times again.
