Gibraltar issues moving tribute to Queen as it suspends key event

Gibraltar has issued a moving tribute to Queen Elizabeth II as it suspends a key event. Her Majesty died last Thursday at the age of 96 in what is understood to have been one of her favourite residences. Her state funeral will be held on September 19, which will also be a bank holiday, and an official period of royal mourning will continue for a further seven days after this. Since Her Majesty’s passing, a number of UK events, such as sporting fixtures, have been postponed or even cancelled. In Gibraltar, too, National Day has been postponed until after a period of mourning. Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory and usually celebrates National Day on September 10.
