India at the 2nd Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, strongly condemned Pakistan's recurring misuse of the forum to propagate unsubstantiated and malicious allegations against India. Petal Gahlot emphasised that member states and international organisations are well aware of Pakistan's strategy, which aimed to divert global attention from its own dismal human rights record. She reiterated India's stance that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral parts of the country, and issues related to these Union Territories are strictly internal matters.

00:00 Pakistan has become a habitual offender when it comes to misusing this August forum to
00:05 peddle baseless and malicious propaganda against India.
00:10 Member states of the United Nations and other multilateral organizations are well aware
00:15 that Pakistan does so to deflect the international community's attention away from its own abysmal
00:22 record on human rights.
00:24 We reiterate that the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are an integral
00:30 part of India.
00:32 Matters pertaining to the UTs of J&K and Ladakh are purely internal to India.
00:37 Pakistan has no locus standi to comment on our domestic matters.
00:43 As a country with one of the world's worst human rights records, particularly when it
00:47 comes to minority and women's rights, Pakistan would do well to put its own house in order
00:53 before venturing to point a finger at the world's largest democracy.
00:58 A glaring example of the systemic violence against minorities in Pakistan was the large-scale
01:03 brutality perpetrated against the minority Christian community in Jaranwala in Pakistan's
01:09 Faisalabad district in August 2023, where a total of 19 churches were gutted and 89
01:17 Christian houses were burnt down.
01:20 Similar treatment has been meted out to the Ahmadiyyas, whose places of worship have been
01:25 demolished.
01:26 The condition of women belonging to minority communities in Pakistan, notably Hindus, Sikhs
01:32 and Christians, remains deplorable.
01:35 According to a recent report published by Pakistan's own Human Rights Commission, an
01:39 estimated 1,000 women from minority communities are subjected to abduction and forced conversion
01:45 and marriage in Pakistan every year.
01:49 Pakistan has been the home and patron to the largest number of internationally proscribed
01:54 terrorist entities and individuals in the world.
01:57 Instead of engaging in technical sophistry, we call upon Pakistan to take credible and
02:03 verifiable action against the perpetrators of the Mumbai terror attacks, whose victims
02:08 await justice even after 15 years.
02:13 In order for there to be peace in South Asia, the actions that Pakistan needs to take are
02:18 as follows.
02:19 First, stop cross-border terrorism and shut down its infrastructure of terrorism immediately.
02:25 Second, vacate Indian territories under its illegal and forcible occupation.
02:31 And third, stop the grave and persistent human rights violations against the minorities in
02:36 Pakistan.
02:37 I thank you, Mr President.
