Woman Sues Google Maps After Husband's Fatal Fall from Collapsed Bridge. Did Google Ignore the Warnings
  • 7 months ago
A woman in North Carolina sued Google Maps after her husband died in September 2022 when he drove off a collapsed bridge in Hickory, North Carolina. Google Maps had directed him to cross the Snow Creek Bridge, which had collapsed since 2013. There were no warning signs or barriers present. The lawsuit claims Google Maps was notified multiple times since 2020 that it was still directing drivers to cross the collapsed bridge, but did not update its directions. Police said the road was not maintained by the state transportation department. Previous barricades had been vandalized and removed after the bridge collapse years ago.
