00:00 Once Ukraine`s staunchest ally in its war with Russia, Poland now seems to be at the
00:06 opposite end, saying it will stop sending Kiev weapons.
00:10 A dispute over cheap Ukrainian grain coming into Poland has turned into a bitter row over
00:16 support for the embattled country, leaving EU solidarity with Ukraine shaken.
00:22 But despite this, the European Commission says nothing has changed.
00:27 Bottom line is that the EU position and EU policy remains unchanged.
00:32 And the policy and the position of the EU is unwavering, firm, unchanged support for
00:38 Ukraine for as long as it takes in all the areas where we can support Ukraine, including
00:44 the military assistance.
00:46 Last Friday, the European Commission decided against extending a temporary EU ban on Ukrainian
00:51 grain despite Polish wishes to do otherwise.
00:55 It`s left a bitter taste in Warsaw`s mouth with some saying that Brussels failed to do
00:59 enough to satisfy Poland`s needs.
01:03 German Green MEP Sergei Lagodinsky says this isn`t a fair assessment, though.
01:08 The commission has a difficult task.
01:10 We have to secure ability of Ukraine to survive also economically through this war.
01:18 We have to secure safe path ways for resources and food to the world on the one hand, and
01:28 on the other hand, address the Polish concerns.
01:31 And I think that the commission was right in prioritizing our ability to help Ukraine
01:38 first.
01:39 And then look for ways on how to support and to address issues from Poland.
01:46 Warsaw has since clarified its statement, saying it will first finish sending its previously
01:50 committed weapons shipments.
01:54 Many will be waiting anxiously to see if it really does stop sending weapons after this.
01:59 My clear position is that it`s not going to happen.
02:03 Poland knows very well what is at stake.
02:05 Poland knows how it is also in direct Polish and European interest that Ukraine gets all
02:12 what they need, also what concerns weapons.
02:14 Regardless of whether Warsaw carries out its threat or not, some experts are saying that
02:19 the damage is already done.
02:21 And relations between Poland and Ukraine could take years to repair.
