00:00 Good afternoon, Luca. Welcome to Milan. Did you always believe after the rumours in June
00:10 that were linking you with Milan that you could actually sign for the Rossoneri? Did
00:16 you always believe throughout this long summer transfer window?
00:26 First and foremost, it's a great honour and I'm delighted to play for such a big, important
00:33 club such as Milan and I'll do absolutely everything in my power to have success and
00:39 to allow the team to achieve our goals whilst I'm here. Yes, the situation developed as
00:47 it did but my first desire was to come to Milan. So besides all of the other offers
00:56 that I received, I decided to wait for this club and that ultimately paid off because
01:02 ultimately I moved to Milan. Sky, I'd like to ask you two questions. First and foremost,
01:10 it wasn't only this summer, it's been a number of years that Milan and Jovic have been linked
01:15 to one another. Could you talk us through when you were first in touch with the club
01:20 and we can see that you've got a big smile on your face for finally being here.
01:26 Yes, I was pleased and we have been in touch for a number of years and I think it was around
01:35 three summers ago when I was playing for Real Madrid. I had direct contact with the then
01:43 technical director Paolo Maldini and I said that I wanted to come to the club. Unfortunately,
01:50 things didn't quite pan out. This summer they did and I'm delighted about that.
01:55 Another question from a technical perspective, Milan are now playing a different 4-3-3 compared
02:01 with what they did in previous seasons. You need to be the alternative to Giroud. What
02:07 can you learn from a player who's 37 years old, who's won a great deal and who now maybe
02:13 needs a few minutes break every now and then? Perhaps you've come here at the right time.
02:21 Olivier is a great footballer. If I'm not mistaken, I believe he's France's all-time
02:27 leading goalscorer. He's played for some top sides such as Arsenal and Chelsea and he had
02:34 a great deal of success at all of these clubs. He scored goals for them as well. So I'm sure
02:40 that I'll be able to learn something from him day in, day out and I will work hard to
02:46 learn something from him. And if necessary, I hope to replace him as best as possible.
02:52 Hi Luca, welcome to Milan. At Eintracht Frankfurt you became very good friends with Ante Rebic.
03:00 You were a very good strike force. I wanted to ask you if he said anything to you, have
03:06 you spoken to him, has he told you anything about Milan? Earlier on we were talking about
03:12 deadline day. You were in Milan, I was at Casa Milan, I saw you arrive that day. Can
03:18 you talk us through the wait that you had there because the hours and minutes were ticking
03:23 down. What was it like? Yes, I played with Ante Rebic in Frankfurt and we spent some
03:37 nice time together, we played together and I did speak to him when I moved here. He wished
03:42 me all the best. He said, look, this is a really big club and he spoke to me about the
03:49 real positives about this club and I hope that I can play and get worthy results here
03:58 at the club. As for the second portion of the question, yes, in a sense I was willing
04:08 to stay at Fiorentina and would have accepted whatever came to pass. Obviously, however,
04:14 I did want to wait as long as possible to wait for this to get over the line, to come
04:20 to Milan and ultimately that was successful and I was delighted about that. Hi Luca, welcome
04:27 to Milan. Why won't you make a mistake? Why won't you get this wrong? What makes this
04:35 such a great opportunity for you to turn your career around from Real Madrid onwards, the
04:41 way your career has taken a turn for the worse? I think you're right. This is a huge step
04:52 forward, the move from Fiorentina to Milan, so it is a step up. I have dropped off a bit
05:07 when I moved to Real Madrid. From then onwards, things haven't necessarily panned out as best
05:12 as possible. I didn't have a great deal of luck, but now I'm part of one of the biggest
05:17 clubs in the world and I hope that this can work out well for me and I hope that if I
05:26 work hard I can get back to my best performance levels. Hi Luca, very quickly I'd like to
05:32 ask you what characteristics does the ideal coach need to have for you because you had
05:39 Adi Huter for Frankfurt when you were scoring lots of goals. What was the secret of that
05:47 season? If I knew the secret, then I think I would have scored a similar number of goals
06:02 in subsequent seasons. I think that year I think everything just really fell into place.
06:11 I fitted very well into the team and the team adapted to me, so he was an excellent coach
06:17 and he certainly brought my performance levels up. And now I've come to Milan and with the
06:28 new head coach Stefano Pioli I do hope that I can once again have success and I can get
06:33 back to those performance levels and once again score a handful of goals. Hi Luca, I
06:38 wanted to ask you, given that you came in on deadline day, are you ready to already
06:44 start in upcoming matches or do you think you still need a bit more time to get to grips
06:49 with things? I think I might need a little bit of time but I don't know necessarily how
07:01 much time I do have available. With regards to pre-season I'm not necessarily 100% fit
07:07 at this moment in time, so I'm going to have to really knuckle down and work hard in the
07:14 coming days to be ready for our next matches. I've already started working with the fitness
07:22 coaches and I am following a very specific plan. I'm doing a bit more work than the rest
07:29 of the team, other things less, but I'm doing absolutely everything in my power to get back
07:34 to what I was before. Hi Luca, I'd like to come back to the subject matter about the
07:39 head coach. I'm sure you've already spoken to Stefano Pioli. What did he say to you when
07:43 you first moved here? Pioli told me that he believes in me and he feels that we have to
07:57 work very hard. I have to follow what he asks of me and I'm sure that we will work together.
08:06 I need to stress once again what a pleasure it is to work with Stefano Pioli. I've had
08:12 a really warm welcome from the players, from the team and I hope to really pay back that
08:19 faith as best as possible. Coming back to your former clubs, what was it that didn't
08:24 actually work well and have you set any targets since your arrival here at Milan? I don't
08:39 want to necessarily say that things didn't work out, but when you look at my campaign
08:45 last term with Fiorentina, sure I didn't score as many goals as maybe people expected of
08:52 me, the Real Madrid signing that moved to Fiorentina, but given that I had barely played,
08:58 barely kicked a ball for three years, I did expect a season of ups and downs. Ultimately
09:04 I scored 13 or 14 goals and laid on another five in terms of assists. But when I think
09:11 about the time I've spent on the pitch, I think that was a pretty good output for someone
09:16 who hadn't played a great deal consistently over the previous three years. And these were
09:20 important goals which contributed to the team's results and I hope that I can score as many
09:27 goals as possible to really make people happy. What does Milan mean to you and what do you
09:33 need to get back to the level we saw from you when you played in Germany? As a kid I
09:42 grew up supporting Milan and everyone around me, my dad, my friends, we're all Milan fans.
09:53 So this really is a childhood dream come true ever since Milan got in touch with me even
09:58 a few years ago. So finally this situation came to pass. I'm ready to work 100% and during
10:06 every training session I try and learn something new and I try and contribute during the matches
10:12 to try and get the best possible results. Hi Luka, speaking of your father, his name
10:19 is Milan so that's a nice coincidence. How important has he been in your career and how
10:25 much of a say did he have in your call to come to Milan? Both my father and my mother
10:37 have made a great deal of sacrifices for me. They've done everything in their power for
10:43 me to make it this far and I'm hugely grateful for all that. I always used to train with
10:49 my dad when I was a kid growing up and I think he's as delighted as I am at this moment in
10:56 time. We speak to each other every day and he says, "Son, keep working. You're where
11:02 you're supposed to be." And I hope I don't disappoint him. One final question, Mauro.
11:07 Luka, you've played in Belgrade, Frankfurt, Madrid, Florence, all big cities, now Milan.
11:15 It's a big high-pressure footballing city. Are you ready to withstand the pressure and
11:20 overcome it? Absolutely. Quite simply, in football you need to be used to pressure.
11:41 Both in good times and bad times. You need to quickly forget the negative things because
11:47 things move so quickly in football from one game to another when it comes to pressure.
11:52 And when you play for a top club like Milan, we're players that are used to this sort of
11:58 pressure. We have to combat it. Some people don't manage it. Some people are better at
12:03 it than others. But I don't think I should have any issues on that score. I never have
12:09 had any problems with standing pressure, but we'll see. Thank you very much, everyone.
12:13 Thank you.
