Ghost stories and encounters with spirits are common in nearly every part of the world. Why is there a belief that when a pregnant woman dies, her spirit becomes an angry ghost because she can’t fulfill her wishes to be a mother and they transform to be a Pontianak/Kuntilanak? Why are negative attributes given to female spirits when the female energy is known to be loving and nurturing?
