Senate recommends gradual phase out of POGO operations in PH
Transcript
00:00 Shady Chinese presence on the water and on land has done the country little good.
00:05 And in conjunction with the latter, ten senators have signed a report recommending the steady
00:11 and replete banishment of the offshore gaming industry run entirely by the Chinese as our
00:17 Daniel Manalastas lays out in his report.
00:23 It might be game over soon for the controversial Philippine offshore gaming operators in the
00:29 country as one Senate panel recommended for its gradual face out within three months.
00:35 Earlier today, ten senators signed the committee report of the Senate Committee on Ways and
00:41 Means.
00:54 But for Senator Gatchalian, he wants an immediate ban and not just a gradual face out given
01:00 reports of certain POGOs involved in human trafficking and scams.
01:05 The committee report concluded POGOs are overrated and not worth their stay and the meager economic
01:11 benefits they bring to the country.
01:13 However, some senators want to make sure Pinoy POGO workers can transition to a new job or
01:20 livelihood.
01:27 Senator JV Heresito meanwhile, though not for POGO, says he wants a two to three year
01:57 face out.
