Victoria to introduce levy on short stay accommodation

Victoria will become the first state in Australia to introduce a levy on short-stay platforms under new reforms to boost the state's housing supply. From 2025, there will be a 7.5 per cent tax on short stay accommodation such as Airbnb and Stayz. Hosts are reeling from the announcement while tourism businesses fear it'll drive visitors away.
