00:04 According to court documents obtained by NBC News, the actress has filed paperwork to end
00:11 her marriage to the That '70s Show star less than two weeks after he was sentenced to 30
00:17 years to life in prison for rape.
00:20 Bijou's attorney tells the outlet in a statement, "Ms. Phillips has decided to file for divorce
00:25 from her husband during this unfortunate time.
00:29 Her priority remains with her daughter.
00:32 This period has been unimaginably hard on the marriage and the family."
00:36 The statement continues, "Mr. Masterson was always present for Ms. Phillips during her
00:41 most difficult times of her life.
00:43 Ms. Phillips acknowledges that Mr. Masterson is a wonderful father to their daughter."
00:49 E! News has reached out to reps for the former couple, but did not immediately hear back.
00:55 The actress stood publicly by the actor's side throughout his trial and retrial, often
01:01 appearing at court hearings.
01:03 They were together for more than a decade after getting married in 2011 and welcoming
01:08 their only daughter in 2014.
01:11 On September 7, NBC News reported that the That '70s Show star was sentenced to 15 years
01:18 to life in prison on each of two rape charges.
01:21 The judge reportedly ordered the star to serve the terms consecutively.
01:26 It followed the former sitcom star's trial in May, during which a jury found him guilty
01:31 of raping two women at his Hollywood Hills home from 2001 to 2003, during the time he
01:38 starred on his popular show.
01:41 The jury was hung on a third count, which alleged Masterson raped a former girlfriend.
01:47 The May trial was the second time that the prosecution's case against Masterson was presented
01:52 to a jury.
01:54 Back in November of 2022, a mistrial was declared after the jury was unable to come to unanimous
02:01 decisions for all three charges of forcible rape that Masterson was facing.
02:07 In response to the sentencing news on September 7, the Los Angeles District Attorney told
02:13 E! News in a statement, "This has been a long and arduous road for the victims of Mr.
02:18 Masterson.
02:19 They not only survived his abuse, they also survived a system that is often not kind to
02:25 victims."
02:26 After he was first charged, the actor pleaded not guilty to all three counts and maintained
02:32 his innocence throughout both trials.
02:35 E! News has reached out to Danny's attorney for comment and has not yet heard back.
