Police seek public's help in search for Abra lawyer slay suspects

00:00 This CCTV footage taken in the afternoon of September 14 in Banguidabra shows a man looking

00:06 through the passenger side window of a parked white sedan.

00:09 Minutes later, a man wearing a baseball cap approached the other window and fired several

00:14 shots at the driver.

00:16 Another man, this time aboard a motorcycle, aimed his gun and fired more shots.

00:21 The victim is human rights lawyer Maria Sanyatan Liwliwa Gonzalez Alsate, who was parked right

00:27 in front of her home when she was attacked by unknown assailants.

00:30 She is known in the area for providing free legal assistance to those who need it.

00:35 Alsate was rushed to the hospital but eventually succumbed to her injuries.

00:40 The suspect's faces can be seen in the video, but it is not enough to identify them.

00:46 Authorities are now calling on the public to spread the enhanced photos of the suspects.

00:50 "We have recovered CCTV and we will share those footages so that our fellow citizens

00:59 can identify these suspects."

01:01 According to PNP spokesperson Colonel Gene Fajardo, the anti-cybercrime group already

01:07 has the footage where suspects can be seen.

01:10 They are working on further enhancing the quality of the evidence pointing to the gunmen,

01:15 according to family and friends of Alsate.

01:17 The attack came as a surprise since the lawyer did not receive any prior threats.

01:22 The National Union of People's Lawyers, meantime, condemned the ambush.

01:26 The NUPL shares that Alsate was able to secure a writ of amparo and protection order for

01:32 her two clients who were allegedly tortured by cops and soldiers.

01:36 "He was commended by the IBP for doing that.

01:40 The IBP said she took the case at the risk of being harassed and threatened."

01:48 Authorities gave assurance they will stop at nothing until they arrest the people behind

01:52 the killing of the lawyer.

01:53 Alsate is the third lawyer ambushed and killed under the current administration.
