Police are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed 43 cars at a South Kempsey business on Sunday, September 17. Video supplied by Macleay Valley Automotive.

00:43 yesterday at Kempsey in relation to reports of a fire.

00:46 Yes, we are treating the fire as suspicious.

00:49 We have secured a crime scene and our forensic investigators are looking at what may have

00:54 caused that fire.

00:55 I just wanted to confirm, this definitely is a case of arson?

00:59 At this stage, we're not confirming arson, but we are treating it as suspicious.

01:02 We have seen a number of suspicious fires as mentioned.

01:05 I understand there were some suspicious fires occurring the morning of the incident.

01:09 Are those also being investigated?

01:10 Look, we always want to investigate fires, particularly if we believe they've been deliberately

01:16 I can't comment on whether those are linked.

01:19 Obviously, if we have had fires and they are suspicious, there always is that consideration

01:25 that they could be linked.

01:26 Yes, we're definitely appealing for the public, if they have seen anything, if they've got

01:29 anything on dash cam, to contact Crime Stoppers or Kempsey Police Station.
