00:10 Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko suggested that Minsk could join Moscow's
00:14 efforts to revive an old alliance with Pyongyang after this week's summit with North Korean
00:19 leader Kim Jong-un.
00:21 Lukashenko made the proposal as he met with Putin in the Black Sea resort of Sochi.
00:26 At the meeting, the Russian leader reportedly said that he would brief him about the talks
00:30 with Kim Jong-un.
00:31 According to reports, at the start of the meeting, Putin wanted to inform Lukashenko
00:36 about the discussion on the situation in the region, which was quite important, and also
00:40 to touch on the most acute issue, the situation in Ukraine.
00:43 Lukashenko responded by saying that they could think about a three-way cooperation among
00:47 the three countries.
00:49 On Friday, Kim Jong-un continued his trip in Russia by visiting an aircraft factory
00:53 in Komsomolsk-on-Amur to see the latest Russian fighter jets.
00:58 On Saturday, he is scheduled to arrive in Russia's port of Vladivostok, where he is
01:02 expected to see Russian Pacific Fleet warships and visit a university.
01:06 The US and its allies believe that Kim Jong-un will likely supply ammunition to Russia for
01:12 use in Ukraine in exchange for receiving advanced weapons or technology from Moscow.
01:17 If such a deal is made, it would violate the UN sanctions against Pyongyang that ban any
01:22 arms trades with North Korea.
01:26 After meeting with Kim Jong-un, Putin said that Russia will abide by the UN sanctions
01:30 and he reaffirmed the pledge on Friday.
01:32 Putin's meeting with Lukashenko was their seventh this year.
01:36 Lukashenko has relied on Russian subsidies and political support to rule the ex-Soviet
01:40 nation with an iron fist for nearly three decades now.
01:44 He allowed the Kremlin to use Belarusian territory to send troops into Ukraine in February 2022,
01:50 while Belarus has continued to host Russian troops, Lukashenko has emphasized that his
01:56 country will not join the fighting.
