NSYNC Reveals 1st New Song In 22 Years Amid MTV VMAs Reunion

00:00 After they tore up our hearts with teaser after teaser, NSYNC is back together.

00:05 Late Wednesday night, the former boy band revealed they are releasing a new song for the first time

00:10 in over two decades called "Better Place" which will be featured in the new Trolls Band Together

00:16 movie. The full song will be released on September 29th, but fans can now hear parts of the song on

00:21 TikTok. The song announcement came just one day after the band reunited at the 2023 MTV VMAs on

00:28 Tuesday where they presented Taylor Swift with the Best Pop Award and the reunion had fans freaking

00:34 out. "For the first time ever back together in like a decade. Make some noise for NSYNC."

00:43 Justin Timberlake, JC Chazze, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass and Chris Kirkpatrick were all on stage as

00:51 fans screamed on the top of their lungs and reflected on receiving their first ever Moon

00:56 Person Award. "Over 20 years ago we were just kids when we won Best Pop Video for Bye Bye Bye.

01:02 It was our first VMA and it meant the world to us." The iconic boy band then gave the first

01:11 award during the show to Taylor. "The unstoppable Taylor Swift." And Lance even gave her a friendship

01:18 bracelet as she took to the stage. "Thank you for the friendship bracelets." During her acceptance

01:23 speech, the anti-hero songstress freaked out over their reunion and even questioned why they were

01:28 all back together. "I'm not doing well pivoting from this to this. Like I had your dolls.

01:37 I like what like are you doing something? What's gonna happen now? What are you there's something

01:44 they're gonna they're gonna do something and I need to know what it is. You guys are you're

01:51 you're pop personified so to to to receive this um from your golden pop hands is

01:57 really it's it's it's too much." Moments before they took the stage, the NSYNC Instagram page

02:06 even teased their highly anticipated reunion by sharing a video of them in an elevator,

02:11 coyly captioning it "Five NSYNC members walk into an elevator" with a starry-eyed emoji.

02:17 And then in a second video posted to their Instagram, the whole band lip-synced to a scene

02:21 from the sitcom "Friends" and fans began speculating about what it could all mean.

02:26 "Do you know something? Do you know something? I might know something. I might know something too.

02:32 What's the thing you know? Oh no I can't tell you until you tell me what you know. I can't tell

02:37 you what I know. Well then I can't tell you what I know. Okay fine." "Better Place" is NSYNC's first

02:43 new song since 2002. The former boy band reunited for a performance at the MTV VMAs in 2013 and then

02:50 in 2018 they got together once again for their Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony. However,

02:56 none of these earlier reunions resulted in new music. Back in 2018, AXIS Hollywood stopped by

03:02 the Dirty Pop-Up in Los Angeles, the NSYNC pop-up shop made in honor of fans who helped them get

03:08 their star and band members Lance and JC gave us a personal tour. "Y'all are getting your Walk of

03:15 Fame star finally. So we were talking a little bit earlier, how did this come about and how did you

03:21 not add it earlier?" "It essentially came about because a group of fans had kind of spoken up

03:27 about it. They reached out and they were like essentially making the same point that you made.

03:32 They looked around and said how come these guys don't have a star and so they brought it to the

03:37 Walk of Fame people and of course they came to us and we're like hey, all right, we're ready to give

03:42 you that star there and so thanks to the fans out there that stayed on top of things all these years

03:50 later, we're getting to have this moment." "I told JC earlier this is gonna be a record-breaking

03:58 amount of fans. I've heard it from the Walk of Fame star. He's very humble. He doesn't think so."

04:03 "I mean, we'll see what happens on Monday but I think it's gonna be fun. There are a lot of

04:07 fans flying from all around the world just because it's very rare that all five of us get to come

04:13 together. So this is one of those moments that I think is gonna be great for the fans and that's

04:18 why we wanted to do something fun and have an experience for them. So the ones that do fly in

04:22 from Australia." "It's not over in 30 minutes. Give them a little more." "I came out here to see you

04:29 500 feet away and I can't even get close to you so we wanted to do something special for them.

04:34 We wanted to bring people back. We wanted to make people feel like they're teenagers again,

04:38 back to an innocent time. A very innocent time, especially with what's going on today.

04:43 And so you'll get to come to the pop-up and it's one of those experiences where we have

04:49 amazing little setups. You can have your Instagram photo and we've been working on a merch line for

04:54 a year now which has been a lot of fun. Very difficult to get five guys to agree on certain

04:59 pictures but we wanted to come up." "When they're old and rough pictures." "I'm never gonna show that."

05:04 "And that's the one thing I will say that this has done because of the 20-year anniversary and

05:09 because of the Star Ceremony. We decided because the fans did something for us, we wanted to do

05:14 something for them. So believe it or not, this kind of merch line that we've decided to do

05:19 with Epic, it's our latest collaboration. So it's something that they're getting from NSYNC that's

05:26 new because some of the stuff is obviously the pictures of the most nostalgic things and

05:32 things like that but we also are doing kind of new pieces to kind of freshen up and have

05:37 some fun with it. We're putting our own twist on some of the things as well." "And we're gonna

05:41 change it up every like six months. We're gonna come out with a new collection." "Wait, what?"

05:44 "We're trying to be the Kardashian. I just want to be Kylie. See with my blue raspberry lip stuff.
