00:00 Jen Shah has formed a surprising friendship while behind bars with none other than fellow
00:06 inmate Elizabeth Holmes.
00:08 The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City alum's rep Krish Giovanni notes to People in an interview
00:14 published Sept. 14, "They're friends.
00:18 They're both rehabilitating and have bonded over being on this journey of positive change.
00:23 Their situations brought them together and they have a good understanding of one another.
00:27 They're getting through it together."
00:29 As for how exactly the reality star has bonded with the Theranos founder, Krish continues,
00:34 "Jen's given her a lot of advice.
00:37 She's even met Elizabeth's baby and held her."
00:40 The rep adds that Elizabeth, who welcomed her second child with William "Billy" Evans
00:45 in February before starting her sentence in the spring, has also attended Jen's fitness
00:50 class called "Shah-mazing Abs."
00:53 Both Jen and Elizabeth are serving time in federal prison in Bryan, Texas.
00:58 Jen was sentenced to six and a half years in January, an amount that has since been
01:02 reduced by about a year after she pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit
01:08 wire fraud in a telemarketing scheme.
01:11 She began her sentence in February and is scheduled to be released in 2028, according
01:16 to the Federal Bureau of Prisons website.
01:18 As for Elizabeth, the former biotech mogul was sentenced to 11 years and three months
01:23 in prison in November 2022, which has since been reduced to about nine and a half years
01:29 for defrauding investors in her now-defunct blood-testing company Theranos of hundreds
01:34 of millions of dollars.
01:35 Her release was shared by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of California.
01:41 According to the release, the sentencing came after Elizabeth, who founded Theranos in 2003,
01:47 was convicted in January 2022 of one count conspiracy to commit fraud on investors and
01:53 three counts of committing fraud on individual investors, which involved wire transfers totaling
01:59 more than $140 million.
02:02 Elizabeth reported to prison in May and is set to be released in 2032, per the Federal
02:08 Bureau of Prisons website.
02:09 E! News has reached out to both Jen's rep as well as Elizabeth's team for comment, but
02:14 has yet to hear back.
