I'm really proud of the boys for making the second consecutive grand final.
00:03
Hopefully we can go one better and it's been a massive day and a great season so far.
00:10
Hopefully we can finish it off.
00:11
Look, you won fairly comfortably at the end, I'd say that, but I'll tell you what,
00:15
you got away on a couple of occasions but Hepburn just keep coming at you.
00:19
Yeah, absolutely. You talked about Hepburn, you had to play four quarters to beat them.
00:23
They're a great side, they've got some really experienced heads and they're a good club.
00:29
We knew there was going to be times we were going to get on top,
00:32
as soon as we got on top a little bit quickly and pulled on a few goals a bit quick.
00:37
But full credit to my boys. It probably stems down from playing one out of three weeks and
00:45
I think we're better for that hit out and that experience too.
00:47
It was a good spread of contributions today. There were no, what we thought, standouts.
00:53
Perhaps Todd Finko was the man that got you going and was that ongoing danger up forward,
00:59
but looking through your midfield, everyone contributed.
01:02
Yeah, absolutely. We're really lucky we've got five or six, seven that bat deep in the midfield.
01:07
We're able to get it done through there by a collective team effort.
01:14
Obviously, Todd Finko is fantastic. He played a lot forward this week and
01:17
he still runs through the midfield, but he's very dangerous up forward.
01:23
He's been fantastic. Heaps of praise on him, but heaps of praise on the midfield as well
01:26
for doing it collectively in a team together as well.
01:28
Tell us about Paddy Glanford's season. A great effort today. A tremendous battle with
01:35
Sean Ty, the league's best and fairest. He ran all day and he's come on,
01:42
leaped some bounds even this year to what he did in 2022.
01:46
I absolutely love Paddy. As a coach, coaching a guy like Paddy, he's fantastic.
01:51
He improves. He always wants to improve. He gives his whole heart out in the game.
01:54
I think sometimes, I say it to him sometimes, you probably don't get as much credit as he deserves.
02:01
He's not one of those ruckmen that's going to get 20, 30 possessions, but he'll give it his all and
02:06
he'll always give it out midfield. Generally, it gives him first use pretty well. He's created a
02:12
bit of a system in there and probably gave a bit of leash to the midfield and said, "You guys work
02:17
out how you want to set out your touch." Paddy's been massive in saying, "This is what we're doing."
02:22
Around the grounds with a few other boys, he's really taken charge of that. Full credit to him.
02:27
He's had a great season and hopefully he can cap it off next week as well.
02:31
I was going to say, one more big game out of him. That's going to be a crucial factor in a game on
02:38
the big, wide-open spaces of Mars Stadium. The role he's going to play and the way he's going
02:45
to link up with your midfield. Yeah, absolutely. I think if he's out there,
02:50
he's right on the ground. There's massive pockets of space out there.
02:54
Hopefully, he can give us another big game and give it to our mids. Hopefully, we can get the job
03:03
done. You've spoken about in recent times, in particular, about the fact you brought more leg
03:07
speed into the team this year and defensive pressure, which is an ongoing result of that leg
03:15
speed. That's going to be important on the big, open spaces of Mars Stadium because I think you
03:20
got called out there a bit last year. Yeah. I think last year, I always go back. We had a
03:26
really hard run in the finals. That 12-point loss to Gordon. It was a six-point win to Skipton,
03:33
a six-point win to Hebden. I think we were quite tired. It's not an excuse. Gordon were a lot
03:38
better side than us. I think the way we've been able to defend this year, I think us and Buckley
03:45
pretty much finished on the least amount of points that we gave away this year. We're trying to hold
03:50
our head high on that. We want to try and cover the ground as much as possible and defend the
03:54
ground as much as possible. We try and play that press where we try and stop at the source of the
04:01
football from them getting a lot of time on space. Obviously, that'll be a key factor. It always is
04:05
for us. We train it every week. I think if we can do that on the weekend, then we're in with a really
04:13
good shot.
