00:35 G20 dinner has created a fresh division within the Indian opposition.

00:40 Adhiranjan Choudhury, a senior Congress leader, raised concerns about Banerjee's attendance,

00:46 questioning whether it might undermine her position against the Narendra Modi government.

00:50 Adhiranjan Choudhury, who is the state president of Congress in Bengal, told reporters in Kolkata

00:55 and I am quoting, "When many non-BJP CMs refrained from attending the dinner, Didi,

01:01 which he was referring to Mamata Banerjee, went to Delhi a day in advance.

01:06 She attended the occasion with Union Minister Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister

01:11 Yogi Adityanath in the same room.

01:13 I wonder what prompted her to rush to Delhi to be at the dinner party along with these

01:18 leaders."

01:19 Continuing, he also said nothing would have happened if she did not attend the dinner.

01:31 After Adhiranjan Choudhury's statement, a series of allegations started from political

01:39 On Adhiranjan Choudhury's statement, TMC said that Banerjee is one of the chief architects

01:44 behind the opposition bloc India and did not need a lecture from the Congress leader about

01:50 protocols to be followed.

01:51 TMC Rajya Sabha MP Shantanu Sen said, "Choudhury will not decide when the CM of the state

01:58 will go to attend a dinner on the occasion of G20 as a part of the protocol."

02:03 On Adhiranjan Choudhury's statement, BJP West Bengal spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya

02:08 also hit out at Congress over the issue, accusing the party of joining hands with the Banerjee-led

02:13 party in Delhi, betraying the people of state who were victims of the TMC's terror.

02:19 Samik Bhattacharya said, "So people like Adhiranjan Choudhury should explain who is

02:24 causing up to TMC and doing a disservice to the people of the state."

02:29 Reacting to Adhir's comment, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla posted on X saying, "Congress

02:54 But not only Mamata Banerjee was the leader of the India bloc present at the venue.

03:05 the chief ministers from the opposition seen at the dinner hosted for the delegates.

03:11 Meanwhile, CMs of few states who are members of the India alliance did not attend the event.

03:17 Leaders like Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Bagel, Rajasthan's Ashok Gehlod, Odisha's Naveen

03:22 Patnayak and Delhi's Arvind Kejriwal were among the leaders from the opposition parties

03:27 who gave the event a miss.

03:29 Moreover, Congress President Malik Arjun Kharge was not invited to the dinner.

03:34 As Congress President Malik Arjun Kharge was not invited to the dinner, Karnataka CM Siddaramia

03:40 expressed his view and said that Congress National President Malik Arjun Kharge not

03:44 being invited to the G20 dinner was wrong.

03:47 Siddaramia said and I am quoting, "He is not only the Congress President, he is the

03:53 leader of opposition in the upper house.

03:56 According to me, he should have been invited.

03:58 Not inviting him is wrong."

04:00 Additionally, he mentioned that he would also be unable to join the dinner due to prior

04:05 commitments.

04:06 It's worth noting that Kharge and various other opposition leaders did not receive invitation

04:12 for the event.

04:13 However, Union Minister and Chief Ministers including those from the state governed by

04:17 opposition parties were extended invitation to President Murmu's dinner.

04:22 Now, the point is that the Chief Ministers who attended the G20 dinner was entirely justified

04:28 in doing so.

04:30 This event is not affiliated with any particular political party, be it the BJP, Congress,

04:36 TMC, DMK, JMM or others, the G20 event represents India on the global stage and thus, Chief

04:45 Ministers need to participate.

04:47 However, the omission of Malik Arjun Kharge, opposition Congress Party's supremo from

04:52 the guest list raises valid questions.

04:54 Why Malik Arjun Kharge, the leader of opposition Congress Party was not invited to India's

05:01 G20 event?
