Scott McTominay is now the joint-top scorer in Euro 2024 qualifying after he netted his sixth goal in five matches to lead Scotland to the cusp of glory.

And they were once again powered to their fifth successive win by midfielder McTominay, whose international heroics are a stark contrast to his club woes.

Instead, however, he seemingly channeled any lingering frustration into another barnstorming performance for his country, leading to their early breakthrough.

'We have to keep a lid on it,' he said post-match.
'We know we are all really good players in the dressing room that we have got. We have got a really good squad which is full of great characters as well.
'John McGinn is the prime suspect for being a great character keeping the group together and always wanting us to push and keep going.
'So I feel like for us it is relatively simple. We have just got to keep our feet on the ground and keep trying to win games and not concede goals.'
