00:00 Welcome back to New Rockstars, I'm Eric Vos,
00:02 and the end credits of Star Wars Ahsoka
00:04 are gorgeously constructed and filled with secrets
00:07 from planets on a star map in an ancient runic language
00:11 that I actually figured out how to translate.
00:13 And these translations actually spell out
00:15 the path to Pyrrhidia to the letter,
00:17 reframe what we know about Star Wars,
00:19 and bring up some other visual details
00:21 from Episode II that we missed.
00:22 Like in addition to hearing Pergil on Cetos,
00:25 Balin's skull actually saw one moving in the clouds.
00:28 Hell yeah, let's do this.
00:29 And by the way, if you are watching Ahsoka
00:31 and you've never seen Rebels
00:32 and you kind of need a cheat sheet,
00:34 we are doing a four-part Rebels recap series on this channel.
00:37 And while you should watch all of Rebels,
00:39 just watching these videos will catch you up
00:41 with what you really need to know
00:43 to truly appreciate Ahsoka.
00:44 Okay, the closing credits of every episode
00:46 depict the path to Pyrrhidia,
00:48 described by Balin's skull in Episode II
00:50 as a fairy tale told by children in the Jedi Temple,
00:52 but confirmed by Nightsister Morgan Elspeth
00:55 to be based on truth.
00:56 And these golden lines take us through
00:58 the known Star Wars universe to the unknown galaxy
01:00 that this series is expanding to.
01:02 Visually, this may remind you
01:03 of the branching bloodline animation
01:05 of the House of the Dragon opening titles.
01:06 And it does something similar,
01:08 but instead of individuals on a family tree,
01:10 we are seeing Star Wars planets
01:12 and how they connect on this yellow brick road.
01:14 Now, when I first saw these runes,
01:16 I did not recognize them
01:17 as any known Star Wars written language,
01:19 like Oribesh or Mandoa.
01:21 Covering these shows for so long on YouTube,
01:23 I've gotten pretty good at recognizing Oribesh and Mandoa.
01:25 Both of those are alphabets with one-to-one correlations
01:28 with the 26 letters of the English alphabet.
01:30 At this point, I can kind of look at an Oribesh word
01:32 and eyeball it and know what it is.
01:33 I know, it's probably not a healthy thing.
01:35 Now, with this new runic language,
01:37 it seems like it's the language of the ancient civilization
01:39 that this series is branching back to.
01:41 So we don't already have an alphabet for these runes,
01:44 and we had to work backwards
01:45 to figure out what that alphabet is.
01:47 How does one do this?
01:48 Well, three years ago,
01:49 when the teaser for the Robert Pattinson Batman movie
01:51 came out, we saw the Riddler's Clue with a cipher,
01:53 and I, within a few hours,
01:55 was able to figure out what the answer to that riddle was.
01:57 And the first thing you do when you see a cipher like this
01:59 is you look for double letters,
02:00 and then you try to apply that to words
02:02 that might already exist in the answer word or answer phrase.
02:05 In this case, the answer was "He lies still."
02:07 And starting with a double L,
02:08 we were able to get the L, the I, the T, the S.
02:10 It's basically Cryptography 101, pretty rudimentary stuff.
02:13 It's basic substitution.
02:15 And you just kind of use your logic,
02:16 your wheel of fortune, your crossword skills,
02:18 and the number of letters in a word
02:19 to figure out what it would be.
02:20 So here in these closing credits,
02:22 there are 20 visible words in this runic language.
02:25 And knowing that it is the path to Pyrrhidea,
02:27 P-E-R-R-I-D-E-A,
02:29 according to Disney+'s closed captioning,
02:31 that is seven letters.
02:32 And I think it's a safe assumption
02:33 the final destination point in this animation is Pyrrhidea.
02:37 And these seven runes apply to the seven letters of Pyrrhidea.
02:40 So as we work to fill in our alphabet,
02:41 that gives us a P, an E, an R, an I, a D, and an A,
02:45 which is pretty good.
02:46 We got three vowels there and an R, a very common consonant.
02:49 Now, since Cetus was defined
02:51 as the reflex point planet in episode two,
02:53 I thought at first that that might be
02:54 the first planet we see, but the runes do not line up.
02:57 This word begins and ends in an A.
02:59 So then I realized, oh, this must be Arcana,
03:01 the location of the Nightsister Temple in episode one,
03:04 which, cool, adds to our alphabet a C and an N,
03:06 N being another very common letter.
03:08 And then as I looked around the sequence,
03:09 I realized Cetus must actually be
03:11 the third to the last one, number 17,
03:13 the one surrounded by a Purgle constellation.
03:16 The E and the A line up,
03:17 and the first and the last letter are the same,
03:19 so that must be our S, and great.
03:21 Now we also have an S, a T, and an O,
03:23 and we are well on our way, folks.
03:25 But the cool thing about this planet
03:26 being surrounded by a big Purgle hyperspace whale
03:29 on the star map is, if you rewatch that scene
03:31 with Balan on Cetus closely,
03:32 when he looks up past the column at the sky,
03:34 I pointed out in my breakdown of this episode
03:36 that you can hear a Purgle call,
03:38 but you can also see a Purgle shadow
03:41 shifting around the clouds,
03:42 especially when you brighten that region.
03:44 So just a reminder that the migratory path
03:46 of the Purgle is the path to Pyrrhidia.
03:49 They lead the path to another galaxy.
03:51 So from here, I was able to figure out
03:52 most of the alphabet of these runes,
03:54 and I used it to translate all of the planets
03:56 that we see, all of the runes,
03:58 and it's pretty interesting how this ancient map
04:00 charts everything out,
04:01 especially if you watch the "Rebels" season three finale,
04:03 where the character of Grand Admiral Thrawn
04:05 applies his own ancient star map
04:06 to the current galactic map
04:08 to triangulate the position of Atalon.
04:10 This guy is all about ancient star maps.
04:12 He has a map that you can layer on top of our map
04:14 to open up new pathways,
04:16 and I think that's what this series is doing.
04:17 So the first planet we see as the animation begins
04:19 is Arcana, as I mentioned.
04:21 That's the planet with the Nightsister Temple
04:22 that we see in episode one.
04:23 The second planet translates to Eurn, I-E-R-N-E.
04:27 That's a new planet to Star Wars
04:29 that we haven't heard of yet.
04:30 But down at the bottom of the screen is a third marking.
04:33 It's the last three letters of a word, ending in R-M-M.
04:36 I'm not sure what that is.
04:37 But then the path strikes two planets
04:39 and branches downward through another circle,
04:41 striking two more planets,
04:43 and then speeds into a ring
04:44 with a Loth-Wolf in the background,
04:46 which is important because in Star Wars Rebels season four,
04:48 two-dimensional Loth-Wolves like this
04:49 are what led Ezra Bridger to the world between worlds,
04:52 a realm that can transcend the boundaries of time itself.
04:54 I like mobile games, but sometimes I want something casual
04:57 that I can dip in and out of all day long
05:00 rather than having to really focus on for an hour at a time.
05:02 And right now, my casual game of choice is Pocket Champs.
05:05 Pocket Champs is free to download on an iOS or Android,
05:08 and it is so fun.
05:09 In Pocket Champs, you're in charge of training the champs
05:12 so that they can beat other champs
05:13 in races on obstacle courses.
05:15 Every course is different,
05:16 but you've got a bunch of gadgets to choose from
05:18 to make sure that your champ
05:19 has a leg up on the competition.
05:20 The upgrading and progression is super satisfying,
05:23 particularly when it lets you eek out some close wins.
05:25 So in this race, I used my wings
05:27 because there'd be a lot of flying.
05:29 That green guy on the skateboard almost got me,
05:31 but then right at the end, boom, first place.
05:33 Pocket Champs is super fun.
05:35 If you wanna play it yourself,
05:36 click the link in the description below
05:38 or scan the QR code on the screen.
05:40 You'll get a free starter pack with 1,100 gems
05:42 to upgrade your gadgets added to your account
05:44 on September 4th, but only if you download before the 3rd.
05:48 Now, on the border of this ring, at the top of the screen,
05:50 it says Perlemian Trade Route.
05:52 That is a hyperspace trade route
05:54 that connects Felucia and Tanab.
05:55 That's referenced by the Bad Batch.
05:56 It's an old Tarkin favorite.
05:58 But top middle of the screen here, Garel.
06:00 That is a planet that showed up several times in Rebels.
06:02 It's supposed to be relatively close to Lothal,
06:04 and sure enough, to the lower right of this is Lothal,
06:07 L-O-T-H-A-L.
06:08 This is the recurring setting in Rebels.
06:10 It's a home of Ezra Bridger.
06:11 Very important planet, and yes, it's seen in live action
06:14 in Ahsoka Episodes 1 and 2.
06:15 Directly to the right of Lothal is another planet,
06:18 and then past that, Mandalore, M-A-N-D-A-L-O-R-E.
06:21 Doomed homeworld of the Mandalorian people,
06:23 seen in Mandalorian Season 3,
06:24 and in Clone Wars and Rebels, another very important planet.
06:27 Then we branch into an area with three visible planets.
06:30 The path actually bypasses Agamar,
06:32 which is actually a rocky planet
06:33 that the Ghost crew visited with Rex
06:35 in the Rebels Season 3 episode, "The Last Battle."
06:37 This was the site of a past Clone Wars battle,
06:39 and then the path hits, in the middle of a ring, Dathomir.
06:42 Ooh, so this is the home of Maul,
06:44 and it is a place where a Nightsister temple stood.
06:47 It was seen in Clone Wars
06:48 with the Nightsister mother Talzin, reanimated Maul's legs,
06:50 and of course, it was the temple where Ezra, Maul,
06:53 Kanan, and Sabine went into in Rebels Season 3
06:55 and recovered the Darksaber.
06:56 Now, interestingly, right above Dathomir,
06:58 very close to it, is Yavin.
07:00 This is the gas giant with the moon of Yavin IV,
07:02 where the Rebel base stood.
07:03 Didn't realize Dathomir and Yavin were this close.
07:06 Then the path branches deeper into a whole other area,
07:09 and the center of this ring is Corellia.
07:10 This is the industrial planet seen in episode two,
07:12 also in Solo, a Star Wars story.
07:14 In the top center of this area,
07:16 that translates to Cato Neimoidia.
07:17 That's the wealthy home of the Neimoidians
07:19 from the prequels and the Clone Wars era.
07:21 Below that is Duro, D-U-R-O,
07:24 the populated home of the Duros race.
07:26 And then beneath that,
07:27 surprised that it was this close to anything,
07:29 Pasaana, P-A-S-A-A-N-A.
07:31 That is the desert planet that we see
07:32 in "The Rise of Skywalker," where they recover the dagger,
07:35 and Rey thinks she kills Chewbacca.
07:37 I thought that was way further away from everything else.
07:39 Now that large curved band that we see to the right,
07:41 those runes translate to Corellian Run,
07:44 the famous hyperspace lane used by smugglers.
07:46 Now our gold line path branches downward
07:49 to what I assume are the core worlds of this galaxy,
07:51 because it intersects with the center world,
07:53 which is Coruscant, C-O-R-U-S-C-A-N-T.
07:57 And now, finally, we arrive at our reflex point of Cetos.
08:00 It is surrounded by the Pergol,
08:01 which really starts the pathway to Peridia.
08:04 The path branches rightward through two crescent shapes.
08:06 The first one is unmarked,
08:07 but the second one translates to Odin, O-D-Y-N.
08:11 Why is this important?
08:12 Well, Balin Skoll and Shin Hati
08:14 are named after the Norse mythological wolves
08:16 that chase the sun and moon across the sky.
08:18 Odin, O-D-I-N, different spelling,
08:20 is a Supreme Norse god.
08:21 We see Loth-Wolves on the Lothal mural that Sabine painted.
08:24 Even the character of Merak gets his name
08:26 from Arthurian legend, a character associated with wolves.
08:28 I'm telling you, wolf imagery is everywhere in this,
08:31 and I think this Odin planet's gonna have some connection
08:33 to Balin and Shin.
08:34 Now, the far right planet is something, Unna, U-N-N-A,
08:38 maybe Zunna, based on the consonants,
08:40 I still haven't figured out yet.
08:41 Now, the line here passes several shimmering Pergol
08:43 and several lines intersect at our final destination,
08:46 Peridia.
08:47 So, Peridia is in a separate galaxy.
08:49 Think about it, all of Star Wars until now
08:51 has been a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
08:54 One galaxy with some unknown regions, but still one galaxy.
08:58 This is a second galaxy altogether, and that's a huge deal.
09:01 It means that this era of Star Wars stories
09:04 might actually take place in a history unaffected
09:06 by the events of the sequel trilogy,
09:07 and that Ahsoka and the crossover movie
09:09 that Dave Filoni is working toward
09:10 do not have to tie into the rise of the First Order
09:13 or the Palpatine cloning plot or Snoke,
09:15 Starkiller base, any of that.
09:17 It could be a whole new horizon of planets
09:19 dominated by Thrawn.
