Enrique Tarrio, former leader of the Proud Boys gang, has been sentenced to 22 years in prison for his involvement in the January 6th Capitol riot. He was convicted on treason-related charges. Tarrio played a significant role in orchestrating the mob that breached the Capitol and disrupted the peaceful power transfer. Four members of the Oath Keepers group involved in the attack also received lengthy prison sentences. Prosecutors presented evidence of the Proud Boys' violent culture and plans to undermine the election. Tarrio apologized for his actions and wanted to distance himself from politics.
