00:00 Several Bollywood celebrities took to social media on Tuesday to react to the ongoing controversy
00:07 regarding India's name change to Bharat.
00:10 From Amitabh Bachchan to Kangana Ranaut, celebrities reacted to the name change and warmly embraced
00:15 the new name for the nation.
00:17 The news comes a day after an invite by the President Draupadi Murmur went viral on social
00:24 media where she referred to herself as President of Bharat to invite the G20 leaders for a
00:31 special dinner.
00:33 Kangana Ranaut and more celebrities reacted to India to Bharat name change.
00:38 As soon as the news of India's name change went viral on social media, Amitabh Bachchan
00:43 took to his Twitter account and wrote, "Bharat Mata Ki Jai".
00:48 Jackie Shroff too reacted to the name change and told ANI, "Earlier our country was called
00:54 Bharat, right?
00:55 My name is Jackie.
00:56 Some call me Jockey and some call me Jackie.
00:59 People changed my name because of that I will not change.
01:02 Just the name will change, we will not.
01:04 You people keep changing the country's name but don't forget that you are an Indian."
01:09 Kangana Ranaut took to her Instagram story and shared a screenshot of one of her previous
01:33 interviews where she had suggested that India should be called Bharat.
01:37 And some call it black magic, it's simply grey matter honey.
01:41 Congratulations to everyone freed from a slave name.
01:45 Jai Bharat, she wrote in the tweet alongside the screenshot.
01:49 In a long note, Kangana expressed her thoughts about the name change and wrote, "What is
01:53 there to love in this name?
01:55 First of all, they couldn't pronounce Sindhu, toh usko begar ke Indus kar diya.
02:00 Phir kabhi Hindus, kabhi Indus, kuch bhi golmol karke India bana diya.
02:05 From the time of Mahabharata, all the kingdoms who participated in the great war of Kurukshetra
02:11 came under one continent called Bharat.
02:14 So why are they calling us Indus Sindhu?"
02:16 She further added, "Also the name Bharat is so meaningful.
02:20 What is the meaning of India?
02:22 I know they called red Indians that because in olden English, Indian simply meant slave.
02:27 They named us Indians because that was a new identity given by the Britishers.
02:32 But in olden days dictionary, India's meaning was mentioned as slave.
02:36 They recently changed it.
02:38 So that is not our name.
02:40 We are Bharatiye, not Indians."
02:42 Well, there are also few celebrities opposing to the name change and they are, Prakash Raj
02:48 who tweeted, "We can only change names with fear.
02:52 We are Indians.
02:53 Can change you and your government with pride."
02:56 Swara Bhaskar shared a news piece claiming Pakistan is all set to claim the name India
03:03 after the renaming and wrote, "Yeh tha sabka saath, sabka vikas."
