Nick Westby talks to top-class riders Harry Tanfield and Wout van Aert  ahead of Stege 3 of the Tour of Britain

00:12 and took a bronze medal at the British Time Trial titles at Putser Croft Motor Racing Circuit earlier this year.

00:21 Winner of Vuelta a Murcia this year and 4th in the British Road Race titles last year

00:26 in a very damp race in Castle Douglas in Scotland.

00:29 And the final member of the team, the final Yorkshire rider,

00:32 and he's from just down the road in Leeds.

00:35 Please welcome, recently crowned World Mountain Bike Champion,

00:40 rider who won Strada Bianche this year, 2nd in the A's, Bass in the A's, 3rd in Amstel Gold.

00:44 He's had more World titles and Olympic titles than you'd shake a very big stick at.

00:48 He is, of course, Tom Pidcock!

00:52 Big Tour of Britain, familiar territory for you. How good is it to be back in Yorkshire?

00:56 Yeah, it's really nice.

00:58 I mean, yeah, this is as close to home as it gets really, so it's nice.

01:03 Obviously being in Manchester, a lot of friends around there watching and stuff from day one, so...

01:06 Yeah, today was... should be really nice and it goes quite north,

01:11 and there'll be friends that are coming to watch and maybe my dad will be at the finish,

01:14 and his girlfriend, so that'll be quite nice to see.

01:17 You'll have fond memories, eh? We were in Doncaster in 2018.

01:21 I think it was you won your Tour de York today.

01:23 Yeah, yeah, yeah.

01:25 Yeah, so if I have legs like that today, then for sure we can try something.

01:29 The last two days I've been suffering quite a lot, so I just hope that, fingers crossed,

01:33 my legs are going to return, because I've just been in, I don't know,

01:37 been a bit of a mess the last two days, really.

01:40 So hopefully it can only get better, really. It can't really get much worse, so let's just hope for that.

01:44 And where do you think you are as your year been?

01:47 Yeah, I mean, I struggled quite a bit at the start.

01:51 I was overtrained in the winter and then came good around April time.

01:56 Obviously we ride as a team, we ride as one team,

01:59 and for me personal results haven't really been on the agenda too much,

02:03 because I ride and support the sprinters and the climbers,

02:07 and I'm the most support rider in the team.

02:10 But yeah, I've had some wins in individual races in Holland and Belgium that I was doing on my own,

02:17 just training races, really.

02:20 We've just been good, and I feel like I've really stepped forward a lot in the last half of the year.

02:24 Yeah, this week I've just really suffered.

02:27 I think just the combination of the travel and resting as well before the race,

02:32 it's not been too good, so I'm just hoping to get through it.

02:35 How's the feeling in the team, how are you feeling ahead of today's stage?

02:39 Obviously it's a good atmosphere in the team, winning the first two stages is a really nice achievement,

02:47 and I'm proud of how we worked together to achieve that.

02:51 And what will be your role today, will you be supporting Olaf for the sprint again?

02:56 Hopefully, yes. I think it will be difficult to make it to the sprint,

03:02 it always looks simple, but there's only six guys in the team,

03:07 and I can imagine controlling the race will be again only down to us,

03:12 so we'll see if that's possible, so that it starts winning,

03:17 and if we can do a similar lead-out as the two days before, that would be great.
