00:00 Travis Scott announced his first tour since the 2021 Astroworld tragedy.
00:04 And now people online are speaking out about the lineup.
00:11 Travis Scott is gearing up to take the stage nearly two years after the Astroworld incident.
00:15 The concert left 10 people dead and hundreds injured in 2021.
00:19 Just this past Wednesday, the rapper announced his new Utopia Circus Maximus tour will kick
00:23 off on October 11 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
00:25 The tour is a total of 28 North American cities and even makes its way to Canada.
00:30 The tour will follow Scott's latest live performance at the Circus Maximus Rome, Italy.
00:34 The event, held in early August of 2023, sold out of the nearly 60,000 tickets in roughly
00:38 two days and sparked fears of an earthquake.
00:41 Scott even made a surprise appearance at a Drake concert as of late, with many intrigued
00:45 on the new announcement.
00:46 The tour performed the single "Meltdown" for the first time ever in Vancouver.
00:57 However, many online are speaking out about the decision to not perform in the Houston
01:03 area for the upcoming tour.
01:05 The rapper, who is from the city, came under local scrutiny after the Astroworld festival
01:09 in 2021.
01:10 Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said earlier this month that Scott's tour would include
01:14 an October date at the Toyota Center, but the rapper's hometown was not listed on
01:18 the final schedule that was released to the public.
01:20 Instead, the tour stops at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on October 17 and the Moody
01:25 Center in Austin on November 21, 2023.
01:28 When Turner announced that Scott would be performing in Houston for the first time since
01:32 the tragedy, Houston Police Officers Union released a statement saying it was in "disbelief."
01:36 The union stated at the time, "We believe that it is unreasonable to allow this concert
01:41 to go forward and call upon elected officials to stand up and say, 'Not in our city, not
01:45 again.'"
01:46 Scott's latest album, "Utopia," was released on July 28, the same day as the Houston
01:51 Police Department released a 1,266-page report on its investigation into the deadly concert
01:58 in 2021.
01:59 The report was released about a month after a Harris County grand jury also declined to
02:03 indict Scott and five other individuals on criminal charges.
02:07 A large amount of civil lawsuits were filed against Scott and the event organizers, including
02:11 Live Nation, as a result.
02:12 Many of the civil cases are still pending.
