A critically endangered Western chimpanzee has been born at the Chester Zoo in the U.K., and “instantly bonded” with his mother ZeeZee, who is cradling him closely, zookeepers say.

A video shared by the zoo, located at Upton-by-Chester, Cheshire, England, shows the male baby being cradled, carried and cared for by his mother and his sister, Stevie.

The baby has spent his first few weeks bonding with his mother and the rest of the 22-strong troop, according to the zoo.

“A birth always creates a lot of excitement in the group and raising a youngster soon becomes a real extended family affair,” Andrew Lenihan, team manager of the primates section, said in a statement.
