00:00 Ron DeSantis hasn't made many Latino friends recently, after passing laws in his state
00:04 penalizing companies that employ illegal aliens, banning illegal immigrants from getting ID
00:09 cards, and disallowing anyone to transport illegal aliens into or even around the state.
00:14 Now a former colleague from a secret society DeSantis was part of at Yale, called St. Elmo,
00:19 says his attitude towards that community is unsurprising.
00:23 The New York Times recently reported the secret society would hold weekly meetings where they
00:27 would discuss their personal histories.
00:29 Cristina Sosa Noriega, a member of that group, says when she told her story about being a
00:33 Hispanic girl growing up in Texas, DeSantis just rolled his eyes, telling the Times, quote,
00:39 "He seemed bored and disinterested.
00:41 It was like I wasn't worth listening to.
00:43 I had the feeling that he assumed that I didn't deserve to be there."
00:46 What's more, the report indicated that two other members of the society corroborated
00:50 the story.
00:51 A spokesperson for DeSantis has since denied the claims, saying it was absurd that anyone
00:55 could remember such a detail from decades ago.
00:58 Meanwhile the Florida governor has made no attempt to hide his attitudes towards minority
01:02 groups as a lawmaker.
