Deputies Planning Illegal Traffic Stop - December 31, 2020

On December 31st, 2020, a now-former Caldwell Parish Sheriff's Office deputy spotted a new vehicle parked in a driveway, during daylight hours. The vehicle had a paper temporary tag in the back glass. That deputy then conspired with another one - who's still on the force as of August 21, 2023 - to unlawfully stop it after dark under the guise of "no license plate." Stopping (and searching) vehicles for "no plate" when they have a clearly visible temp tag, is a very common practice in Caldwell Parish and throughout Louisiana.
