00:00:00 Now, how about them damn Celtics?
00:00:10 And we are back with another episode of How 'Bout Them Celtics Seminar here recording
00:00:14 on Wednesday, August 16th.
00:00:15 We got a lot to talk about today.
00:00:18 As crazy as that sounds, literally the middle of August.
00:00:21 This is the middle of the middle, like as we could possibly get maybe one day off if
00:00:24 you want to go to the 30th or excuse me, 15th because it's August 30 days or 31 days.
00:00:28 I have to sing the song every time.
00:00:30 Back to back, July, August.
00:00:32 Am I a child or do you also sing the song in your head?
00:00:36 I don't know the song.
00:00:38 It's 30 days has September, April, June and November.
00:00:41 After February is done, all the rest has 31.
00:00:43 Really?
00:00:44 August.
00:00:45 Yeah.
00:00:46 So August would be 31.
00:00:47 Anytime I hear like that phrasing, I oddly enough, this is a really like rabbit hole
00:00:52 thing.
00:00:54 But I think of one of the Batman games where Calendar Man is in a cell and he's just like
00:01:01 mumbling that to himself.
00:01:03 And it's actually really creepy.
00:01:04 Well, I'm sorry to evoke that memory of you so early into the vodcast.
00:01:10 We're off the rails a minute into the show, but I'm glad hopefully you guys stick around.
00:01:14 We got a lot for you today.
00:01:15 We have Celtics news.
00:01:16 We have a good Reddit post and Rattlers season be good.
00:01:19 So stick around.
00:01:20 Yes.
00:01:21 Yes.
00:01:22 And we wanted to thank you all for the support.
00:01:24 We joined CLNS.
00:01:25 We told you guys last episode had a couple of nice comments.
00:01:27 Had some other people comment.
00:01:29 We appreciate the comments regardless that we I always say at the end of the shows.
00:01:32 And I know Sam feels the same that we appreciate the comments more than anything because it
00:01:37 shows that people actually listen to us, which again, I talked about this when we talked
00:01:40 about Joey's spatula is mentioning that like, oh, somebody came to my food truck, so they
00:01:45 listen to the show.
00:01:46 It doesn't like quantify in my whatever you want, whatever adjective or verb or whatever.
00:01:50 It doesn't like register.
00:01:51 That's what I wanted.
00:01:52 I wanted to like, yeah, register, click in my brain that like actual other people like
00:01:55 listen to the show and like listen to every show.
00:01:59 And that's just I think that's cool.
00:02:00 Like that's just it.
00:02:02 It's cool to think about.
00:02:03 Like we got a couple messages somewhere like, oh, you know, I don't know if they're worried
00:02:08 that something was going to change.
00:02:09 Nothing's going to change in terms of podcast.
00:02:12 The same episodes, the same daily uploads.
00:02:14 Everything is on our channel is going to be exactly the same.
00:02:16 We're just also posting a podcast daily.
00:02:19 Making it.
00:02:20 Yes, exactly.
00:02:21 We're also posting the podcast a day late over on the channel who have always best is
00:02:25 the two guys that just show up in the comments to fight each other.
00:02:28 Yeah, that's slowly become my favorite thing.
00:02:30 I can't lie to both.
00:02:31 The Peter Griffin and the chicken rivalry.
00:02:33 Yes, they did.
00:02:35 But they just like argue with each other back and forth for like 20 comments.
00:02:38 We're like, wow, a lot of interaction is just two guys fighting.
00:02:43 So shut up, guys.
00:02:44 Keep watching.
00:02:45 Yeah, we appreciate you both.
00:02:47 Thank you all for stopping by.
00:02:48 But let's get into the Celtics news we have today.
00:02:50 We'll start with Chris stops for Zingas because three, including this one, three of our last
00:02:56 four shows are going to be headlined by Chris stops for Zingas injury title.
00:03:00 And one the first one was Chris stops for Zingas is hurt.
00:03:04 The second one was psych Christophs for Zingas isn't hurt.
00:03:07 And this new one is OK, wait, he's actually hurt this time, guys.
00:03:10 I promise.
00:03:11 So yes, Chris does.
00:03:13 For Zingas is actually hurt.
00:03:14 He has plantar fasciitis.
00:03:18 The original port came from I can't find it.
00:03:21 It was just funny to me because it was basketball, Deutschland or something like that.
00:03:26 Rupert Fabian.
00:03:27 Yep.
00:03:28 He had it.
00:03:29 And everyone was like, oh, this reporting, then Latvia was like, no.
00:03:32 And everyone's like, oh, this guy's a liar.
00:03:34 It seems like, oh, wait, he was actually kind of right.
00:03:37 But for Zingas has plantar fasciitis.
00:03:40 He announced it on a tweet.
00:03:43 This is a tweet, Twitter translated tweet.
00:03:46 So it's the phrasing incorrect.
00:03:48 You were just getting what everybody else had.
00:03:50 It is difficult to be very responsible to myself and the supporters of the Latvia national
00:03:53 team.
00:03:54 But a decision has been made that it will not play in the World Cup.
00:03:56 President said a tweet after several weeks of recovery and an MRI examination, the plantar
00:04:00 fasciitis in my foot still prevents me from being on the field in full readiness.
00:04:04 This is a joint decision that has been made both by the medical coaching staff of the
00:04:07 national team as well as the Celtics team, with the advice and opinion that is now necessary
00:04:11 to continue the recovery process.
00:04:13 Such a decision is not easy to make.
00:04:14 But I promise that I will be there and support the team as much as I can.
00:04:17 And then the Celtics tweeted out.
00:04:20 Chris Stubbs, where Zingas has been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis in his right foot.
00:04:23 He will engage in a four to six week rehab program and is expected to be cleared for
00:04:27 the start of training camp.
00:04:29 So Chris Stubbs, for Zingas is actually hurt.
00:04:32 That is the update we have for you guys.
00:04:34 Let's talk about it.
00:04:35 That one guy in our comments that comes every time and is like, hey, he sucks and he's going
00:04:39 to be injury prone is looking real good right now.
00:04:42 The guys in the CLNS comments from the last Potter not looking good because the one guy
00:04:46 was like, Matt, he's like, you guys click baited saying Zingas was hurt.
00:04:50 Well, unfortunately, we were kind of right, even though it wasn't our report.
00:04:54 It was just we were just sharing the news that was out there.
00:04:59 But this isn't the best start to the Tingus Pingus era in Boston.
00:05:02 It's kind of frustrating because the whole hang up in the trade to get him here was the
00:05:10 Clippers being unsatisfied with Malcolm Brogdon's physicals.
00:05:15 Yeah.
00:05:16 And the Celtics took on a guy.
00:05:19 I can't imagine that this plantar fasciitis is a, Hey, I got this in July thing.
00:05:24 He was probably dealing with this before he got traded to the Celtics.
00:05:29 And yet they went through with the trade.
00:05:31 They gave up smart, who was a key contributor to the team last year.
00:05:35 Of course, what came out and was like, Hey, we said we had to change something.
00:05:39 So sorry.
00:05:40 But it's not really what you want when you have such a seismic shift in your roster and
00:05:46 you're bringing in a new pillar to build on.
00:05:49 And one of his pillars is fucked up.
00:05:51 It's not what you want in a foot injury for seven foot three guy not to be messed with.
00:05:56 Now I wrote about this for Celtics blog just as the news or, and I quickly did a Google.
00:06:01 I was like, all right, let's see.
00:06:02 Like I know players in the NBA deal with this.
00:06:05 Like it's a thing.
00:06:06 I was just curious, you know, is it a thing that's going to hinder you for your whole
00:06:09 career in plantar fasciitis?
00:06:12 As I put my stethoscope on is a lingering thing.
00:06:16 It's a chronic thing.
00:06:17 And I understand that people have to rest for it to go away.
00:06:21 But at the same time, when you Google like NBA players with plantar fasciitis, one of
00:06:26 the first things that comes up is like, Hey, Joel Embiid had plantar fasciitis last summer
00:06:32 and then he won an MVP.
00:06:33 So Celtics fans, you can expect Porzingis to win the MVP, but the team is going to lose
00:06:38 in the second round.
00:06:40 Yeah.
00:06:41 And for what it's worth, um, she gathers Alexander also dealt with it last season.
00:06:46 He's also not seven foot three.
00:06:48 He's also a seven foot three, but he also made all NBA first team.
00:06:50 I am just saying it is possible.
00:06:52 One Google with NBA players deal with plantar fasciitis comes up with Marcus, Camby, Jakim,
00:06:56 Noah, Paul Gasol, Joe Johnson, Ty Lawson, and Nene.
00:07:00 Not a terrible group.
00:07:01 They're all pretty good players.
00:07:03 Actually in recent years, it sounds like you have to get plantar fasciitis to be good.
00:07:08 That's where you take your leap.
00:07:09 Like Gilgis Alexander makes all NBA and bead wins his first MVP after getting bullied by
00:07:13 Yoke kitchen, the voters for two years in a row.
00:07:16 Yeah.
00:07:17 I mean, maybe this is it.
00:07:18 And this is the year that Porzingis plays all 82 games.
00:07:22 We'll spin it.
00:07:23 We'll spin it.
00:07:24 I, uh, I took a nap before the podcast.
00:07:26 I'm in a laughing mood.
00:07:27 And when Sam said, Ting is ping as I looked over the show sheet and Sam put the curse
00:07:30 stops news on our show sheet and Sam wrote, Ting is pink.
00:07:33 It's made a fucking glass dude.
00:07:36 And I just started dying laughing.
00:07:37 But I do think the interesting thing is important to note because I tweeted this out.
00:07:43 If you thought Chris stops for Zingas was going to be healthy for the full season, you're
00:07:47 delusional, right?
00:07:49 It was never going to happen.
00:07:50 And it sucks that the injuries, Celtic staff, by the way, the training that I've had beef
00:07:57 with for years.
00:07:58 Yeah.
00:07:59 They're the ones that's going to get Porzingis to be healthy, but no.
00:08:01 Okay.
00:08:02 Go back to you.
00:08:03 I think you wish that it didn't happen before the season even started, but at the same time,
00:08:08 maybe it's, it's better to happen now than to have him recovering four to six weeks in
00:08:11 the season.
00:08:12 My thing is, and I tweeted this, the Christophs Porzingis injury sucks, but expecting a full
00:08:16 healthy season is unrealistic.
00:08:18 He's dealt with injuries in the past as has Robert Williams and Al Horford's 37 years
00:08:22 old.
00:08:23 Like that trio of players are each going to miss a significant amount of games individually.
00:08:28 And I think setting a goal of let's hope they all play 60 games is probably fine.
00:08:35 Like if I told you by the season's end, Christophs Porzingis played 60 games, Rob played 60 games
00:08:39 and Al played 60 games.
00:08:40 What would you say?
00:08:41 Would you be complaining about that?
00:08:42 No, I don't think I would.
00:08:43 I'd be like, okay, whatever.
00:08:44 As long as they're healthy for the playoffs, which I guess is like what we said last time
00:08:51 for reference, Al played 63 this year and Rob played 35.
00:08:56 So if they play 60 games, that's probably on pace for where they're both that Porzingis
00:09:00 this past year played 68, I believe.
00:09:02 So he'd be taking a little step back.
00:09:03 I've only written 65 million times.
00:09:06 My bad, my bad.
00:09:07 So you want to save him for the playoffs a little bit.
00:09:08 So 60 is a fine goal for each of them would disqualify them from awards, but that's not
00:09:12 what the Celtics are worried about.
00:09:14 But at the same time, that leaves you with a cumulative.
00:09:18 I mean, obviously if they miss some of them together, it's less, but like bare numbers,
00:09:22 let's say two of them are healthy every game and they perfectly switch it off.
00:09:26 That's what 60 games of backup center minutes you're going to need to find, right?
00:09:30 Like acting like these three are going to get every single center minute because that's
00:09:35 probably what's going to happen.
00:09:36 The playoffs is completely unrealistic for the regular season.
00:09:38 You need Luke Cornette.
00:09:39 You need maybe probably a Blake Griffin.
00:09:41 You bring him back and then even past that, maybe you do want to bring in somebody who
00:09:44 brings in an extra skill set.
00:09:46 Like I'm I obviously don't like Christophs Porzingis is hurt, but I am not going to sit
00:09:54 here and act like it's the end of the world because this is who he is as a player.
00:09:58 Like he was always going to get hurt.
00:09:59 He was always going to get hurt.
00:10:04 There was always going to be something he dealt with.
00:10:06 Even last year, his quote unquote most healthy season ever.
00:10:08 He missed 17 games.
00:10:09 And so if he's going to be ready for training camp, good.
00:10:12 And then you manage this throughout the regular season.
00:10:14 So it's not as big of an issue in the playoffs.
00:10:16 That's the whole point.
00:10:17 And the whole trading Marcus Smart form thing does suck like that.
00:10:21 That is frustrating because Marcus Smart was, I mean, a core part of this team.
00:10:27 He's a fan favorite throughout Boston.
00:10:28 He was a key member of the community.
00:10:29 He played 61 games last year.
00:10:31 Marcus Smart played less games than Christophs Porzingis last year.
00:10:33 And I don't think this is a first of all, like you said, Wick said something had to
00:10:39 change.
00:10:40 Something had to be shaken up.
00:10:41 And ultimately, that's Marcus.
00:10:42 I just think the ceiling of the team is better now with the way we've they've rounded out
00:10:47 the roster.
00:10:48 And I think that's the important part and saying, oh, they traded Porzingis for an injury,
00:10:53 you know, or excuse me, they traded Smart for an injury prone big man.
00:10:56 That's dangerous.
00:10:57 Like a spoiler alert.
00:10:59 If Christophs Porzingis was an injury prone, then the Celtics probably wouldn't have gotten
00:11:03 him and wait for it to first round picks for Marcus Smart.
00:11:06 Right.
00:11:07 Like they probably wouldn't have been able to get that deal done.
00:11:08 Right.
00:11:09 You're not trading for a perfectly healthy 20 and eight guy and also getting two first
00:11:14 round picks for Marcus Smart.
00:11:16 And I love Marcus Smart.
00:11:17 But like that's crazy value.
00:11:19 And the reason why is probably because he's an injury risk.
00:11:22 That's an asterisk.
00:11:23 But that's a risk you have to take if you want to win a championship.
00:11:25 And I saw somebody tweet this on Twitter and it said, yeah, it stinks.
00:11:29 But like if Brad just kept running it back and running his head into the wall, then he
00:11:32 would turn into Danny.
00:11:33 And that was largely the biggest complaint with Danny is that he refused to package some
00:11:37 of these guys.
00:11:38 And I'm not saying had we Marcus Smart.
00:11:40 And the reason I'm saying is because it literally wasn't supposed to be Marcus Smart.
00:11:42 It was supposed to be Brogdon.
00:11:44 But like seeing Danny Inge go, oh no, let's keep Romeo.
00:11:47 Let's keep Aaron one more year.
00:11:49 Let's keep these guys one more year.
00:11:50 Let's keep this one more year.
00:11:51 No, no, keep it.
00:11:52 I don't think the interesting is fair.
00:11:53 Why?
00:11:54 I think because, okay, maybe they stuck around with like Pearson Garnett too long if you
00:12:01 really want to point that.
00:12:02 But anyways, he gets great value for those two guys.
00:12:05 Obviously it's built the current era of Celtics.
00:12:07 And then after they leave, you go from a Rondo centric plan to a pivot to a Isaiah Thomas
00:12:17 is the guy now to a Kyrie is the guy now to like that Celtics team from like 2015 to 2020
00:12:26 had so many different looks.
00:12:28 I don't think the sticking around with guys too long is a fair poke, at least an age.
00:12:34 Like, I don't know.
00:12:35 I mean, he made moves and he was so active that the moves he didn't make would get out
00:12:39 there and people were like, well, why is, why isn't he doing this one?
00:12:43 And I don't know if you want to transition just yet, but he went on the knuckleheads
00:12:47 podcast with Quentin Richardson and Darius miles and was talking about a trade that could
00:12:52 have happened.
00:12:53 I think it was in 2016.
00:12:54 This is one.
00:12:55 I remember hearing the rumors myself that Chicago is pontificating pondering about sending
00:13:02 Jimmy Butler to the Celtics, but they wanted both of the Brooklyn picks that turned into
00:13:05 Tatum and Brown.
00:13:07 And he was like, we weren't willing to do that.
00:13:09 And it worked out really well for the Celtics.
00:13:11 And he considered that to be one of the best trades he ever was involved in because he
00:13:15 didn't make it.
00:13:16 No, I agree.
00:13:17 And we can pivot.
00:13:18 But my, my point was mainly like, it was obviously a nitpick, but he just, he hoarded too often.
00:13:24 It just felt like he was obsessed with making it.
00:13:27 If he wasn't the perfect deal, I wasn't going to make it.
00:13:29 That was Danny and that was what he was known as.
00:13:30 That's not like this isn't something like I'm surprised that, and you can say good for
00:13:34 him, but that also meant like, okay, let's roll with a bench of, of Brad Wanamaker and
00:13:38 semi-officially for three seasons of Jason Tatum.
00:13:41 You know what I'm saying?
00:13:42 And again, this is nitpicking because the Celtics were Easter conference finals.
00:13:45 I'm not saying Danny just did a bad job, but like you didn't see, uh, what's the word,
00:13:51 um, what taking assets and finally just moving them into one thing.
00:13:55 Uh, I can't think of the word for it.
00:13:57 Compiling, uh, combining assets.
00:14:00 That's not the word, but you know what I'm saying?
00:14:01 You didn't see those sorts of moves until Derek white, Brad Stevens, Malcolm Brogdon,
00:14:05 Brad Stevens.
00:14:06 You didn't see those sorts of move into one thing.
00:14:09 Brad Stevens is a force.
00:14:10 Make no mistake.
00:14:11 Like he, he is not afraid to make changes.
00:14:14 I think him being in the coaching position really impacted how he's gone about this job
00:14:19 because he understands how some of the players on this team need to be set up to succeed.
00:14:25 So I think that's a big factor in that, but I don't know if it's fair to say age wasn't
00:14:31 willing to make a move because he made plenty of moves and consolidate.
00:14:36 He didn't make plenty of moves either.
00:14:39 Consolidate is the word I was consolidating assets.
00:14:41 Okay, fair.
00:14:42 My point is, I don't think age would have made the person get straight.
00:14:45 I do love that the poor Zingas angle here is we're like, well, you know, everybody knew
00:14:51 he was going to get hurt anyway, and that's why the Celtics got so much back for him.
00:14:57 But like, okay.
00:14:58 There was no like rule in the trade that he had to get hurt.
00:15:03 Like no, no, I'm not saying I'm glad it had to happen.
00:15:06 Like, I'm not saying like I was hoping for it.
00:15:09 Like I just knew it was going to happen.
00:15:10 Right.
00:15:11 Like it's the odds of the deal.
00:15:12 Like everybody was in agreement.
00:15:14 They were like nodding.
00:15:15 They were like, all right, fine.
00:15:17 No.
00:15:18 I just, I just assumed like there was no, he was not, he wasn't gonna play an 82 game
00:15:21 season.
00:15:22 He's just not going to have on the poor Zingas injury.
00:15:24 Good job.
00:15:25 Yeah.
00:15:26 We'd stuff to do.
00:15:27 Yeah.
00:15:28 As Sam mentioned, Danny and went on the knuckleheads podcast with Quentin Richardson and various
00:15:33 miles and he talked about a trade that didn't happen back in.
00:15:37 Do we have an exact year on this when this was, I think it's 2016.
00:15:40 He didn't say that, but from my memory, that is when this would have happened.
00:15:46 But Danny age almost traded for Jimmy Butler.
00:15:48 This Sam talked about, this is the exact quote of Danny age from the podcast.
00:15:52 Some of the best trades I ever made were the ones I wasn't able to make.
00:15:54 Like I was trying to get Jimmy Butler from Chicago when I was in Boston, but they wanted
00:15:57 a lot.
00:15:58 So we didn't do it because it ended up it ended up, it would have been Jalen and Jason,
00:16:02 both those draft picks.
00:16:03 We got those guys with and I bet a lot of Celtics fans are very happy.
00:16:08 And I saw one heat fan tweets the biggest mistake the Celtics made.
00:16:12 And it was picture of Jimmy Butler holding the Eastern conference final trophy.
00:16:15 And then some Celtics fan goes, Jimmy Butler is 33 and has won more finals appearances
00:16:19 than both the Jays.
00:16:20 I think we'll be fine.
00:16:22 But I just, I love it worked out for the Celtics and Jimmy Butler has been fantastic for Miami.
00:16:29 And you know, the one team that got screwed is Chicago.
00:16:32 Yeah.
00:16:33 Chicago kind of sucks.
00:16:34 Now a king of the fourth quarter tweeted out, he said, let's stop acting like this matters.
00:16:38 The bulls would have made the wrong picks.
00:16:40 Yeah.
00:16:41 Like Josh Jackson and well, Kristin was a bull, but not in the draft.
00:16:46 It would have been Josh Jackson.
00:16:48 And there was somebody else after Gail Brown who was bad.
00:16:50 That was, they would have picked drag and drag and drag and bender.
00:16:53 Yeah.
00:16:54 You forgot about that one, huh?
00:16:55 Durant.
00:16:56 Yep.
00:16:57 That's the tape Jersey.
00:17:01 But yeah, I mean, it's interesting to think about obviously, cause you go back and look,
00:17:05 it was the 2016.
00:17:06 We, you assume it was the year before the Jalen Brown draft.
00:17:09 I just remember it being like right around draft night that was being discussed.
00:17:13 It was cause Jimmy, Jimmy was ready to be out of there.
00:17:16 And then Chicago is out and they get Wade and Rondo and they play with that team and
00:17:19 almost give me a heart attack in the playoffs when Sully's went down to, Oh, at home.
00:17:24 Yeah.
00:17:25 So then back one, four straight, the Celtics team that would have added Jimmy Butler was
00:17:30 Isaiah Thomas, Avery Bradley, Jay Crowder, Evan Turner, Jared soldier, Kelly Olenek,
00:17:35 Marcus smart.
00:17:36 Well, Evan Turner, excuse me at the hiccups.
00:17:39 Yeah.
00:17:40 That team lost in the first round of the Eastern conference.
00:17:42 Yeah.
00:17:43 Lost the first round of the Eastern conference.
00:17:45 You can go back and forth though.
00:17:46 You know what players would have been in the deal?
00:17:48 Probably a Jay Crowder, probably a Avery.
00:17:51 I don't even know what else that would have required, but then you would have created
00:17:53 a yeah.
00:17:54 Excuse me, Isaiah Thomas, Jimmy Butler, maybe Al Horford still signs their big.
00:18:01 No, Al Horford probably still would have came to town.
00:18:03 I think.
00:18:04 I also think that deal may have been something that they were pushing for to entice Durant
00:18:09 who was a target that summer.
00:18:11 That was the Tom Brady goes with Kelly Olenek to hang out with Durant summer.
00:18:15 What a time that was.
00:18:16 I remember I was working as a bus boy and I was like sneaking into the bathroom, like
00:18:22 every half hour, 20 minutes, like look at, look at Twitter and see what was happening.
00:18:27 And I just remember seeing that picture of all of them in the Hamptons.
00:18:30 And I was like, Oh my God, it's going to happen.
00:18:32 Cause there was real steam behind Durant coming here.
00:18:35 No, absolutely.
00:18:36 I was, uh, I remember when the news that he signed with golden state came out, I was in
00:18:40 at my dad's house and I was just downstairs and I was on my phone and I forget if it was
00:18:46 Henry or my dad.
00:18:47 I think Henry came down and he goes, Jack, I'm like, what?
00:18:49 And he goes, it, it, it, no.
00:18:51 And he just had like this distraught look on his face.
00:18:54 I'm like, where'd he sign?
00:18:56 And he, I go, it's not Boston.
00:18:58 He goes, I go, where else could it be?
00:19:00 And he goes, you don't want to know.
00:19:02 It was called state and it was just the disaster.
00:19:05 Um, yeah, man.
00:19:07 I mean, I'll ask you this, obviously Tatum Brown, like dub, dub for Danny edge, right?
00:19:13 Like just straight up, like those are two of the best wings in the league.
00:19:16 Now, if the qualification was you signed Jimmy Butler and you get Kevin Durant, would you,
00:19:23 would you have made the move?
00:19:24 Are you, are you fine?
00:19:25 And that's impossible to ask because of how great the Celtics have been with Jason Tatum
00:19:29 and Jalen Brown.
00:19:30 And the obvious answer is no, but if you think about it, at the time you're getting
00:19:35 essentially the same thing just earlier, yes.
00:19:37 Jalen Brown's worse than Jimmy Butler now make no mistake, but you would be getting
00:19:42 both of those guys, but at the time with, with very similar skill sets.
00:19:47 Yes.
00:19:48 So I'd probably do it at the time.
00:19:50 Yeah.
00:19:51 Yeah.
00:19:52 But in hindsight, when a title with Butler and Kevin Durant, probably.
00:19:56 Yeah.
00:19:57 So they probably beat, they probably win the bubble at the very least in that timeline.
00:20:05 In that timeline though, Isaiah Thomas gets a ring.
00:20:08 Marcus smart gets a ring.
00:20:09 You know, all these guys get rings in Boston.
00:20:13 If it comes with the qualification that the Celtics also got Kevin Durant, I think it
00:20:16 would be like, maybe you got to like consider it, but it's impossible to say yes to that
00:20:20 now knowing what happened.
00:20:22 And the best part of that to me is Chicago actually got like pretty good return for Jimmy
00:20:29 Butler.
00:20:30 Like I know it being marketing.
00:20:32 I don't know what picks anything.
00:20:35 Chris Chris done.
00:20:36 It was Levine marketing and Chris done.
00:20:38 And right now that looks like, okay, they got nothing because Levine, I will not nothing.
00:20:43 They got an all-star marketing and Chris done in Utah, by the way.
00:20:46 Exactly.
00:20:47 I know you don't like Zach Levine, but getting an all-star back when you're training and
00:20:52 all-star like that doesn't happen often, right?
00:20:54 Like, like when, if you're trading an all-star caliber player, usually getting prospects.
00:20:58 And if those prospects eventually turn into all-stars, you did a good job drafting, but
00:21:01 you don't usually get a guy, a budding all-star in return for that.
00:21:04 Like that's like, I'm trying to think of the equivalent trading for RJ Barrett in a trade
00:21:09 right now and him blossoming into an all-star.
00:21:11 That's the best equivalent I can think of.
00:21:13 Like in a lot of people would be impressed if that happened for RJ Barrett.
00:21:17 And so the Bulls actually got a good return, just not exactly as good as Jalen Brown and
00:21:23 Jason Tatum.
00:21:25 That Bulls team, by the way, they missed the playoffs.
00:21:28 They went 42 and 40.
00:21:30 It was Jimmy Butler leading the way with an old Pogosol, Derek Rose, Nicola Mirotic, Doug
00:21:35 McDermott, Taj Gibson on the team.
00:21:37 Not a very good Bulls team.
00:21:38 Could have used those draft picks.
00:21:41 That would have been 16, 17.
00:21:43 I'm looking at 15, 16.
00:21:46 What do you mean?
00:21:48 I'm looking at the team.
00:21:51 This Butler would have been ahead of the 16 draft.
00:21:56 I was looking at the team that this 16th year, I was looking at the same year that like,
00:22:01 oh, this Celtics roster would have added.
00:22:02 Oh, like when this would have been coming off of?
00:22:06 The next season, yeah.
00:22:07 The next season they still had Jimmy Butler, but then they also had Dwayne Wade, Taj Gibson.
00:22:10 They went and got Wade and Rondo and Rob Lowell.
00:22:13 Effectively the same as far as.
00:22:14 Yeah, yeah.
00:22:15 I was thinking Porter Junior or excuse me, Michael Carter Williams.
00:22:18 Who the Michael Carter Junior?
00:22:19 I was thinking Porter Junior.
00:22:20 I didn't know he played in Chicago.
00:22:22 That's weird.
00:22:23 Yeah, just interesting.
00:22:24 Interesting to picture Jimmy Butler in a Celtics jersey.
00:22:29 Would the Bulls have made the right pick Sam?
00:22:32 Maybe.
00:22:33 Trying to think like did they?
00:22:35 They didn't have high picks in those drafts.
00:22:37 Let me take a look.
00:22:38 2016 draft.
00:22:39 There was field, there was Dragon Bender.
00:22:44 Like you said, Chris Dunn was still there.
00:22:48 Tiaran Fox was the next year, I believe.
00:22:52 2016 Chicago had the 14th pick.
00:22:54 Who they pick Sam?
00:22:55 Tell me.
00:22:56 Let's throw back for you.
00:22:58 This is a tough one.
00:22:59 Not in the league anymore.
00:23:00 Celtics connection.
00:23:01 Celtics connection here.
00:23:02 Brief.
00:23:03 Celtics connection.
00:23:04 Brief.
00:23:05 Not Boston Celtics connection.
00:23:06 Oh, Denzel Valens.
00:23:07 Yeah, Denzel Valens is the 14th pick.
00:23:13 Not a great one.
00:23:14 A few picks later.
00:23:17 It was Denzel Valens at 14 to the Bulls.
00:23:18 Then there was Malik Beasley at 19.
00:23:20 Caris Levert at 20.
00:23:21 Pascal Siakam at 27.
00:23:22 Dejounte Murray at 29.
00:23:23 So probably could have done a little bit better.
00:23:27 What a pick that was.
00:23:29 Yeah, the Spurs are built different.
00:23:31 And then in the second round, you have Malcolm Brogdon at 36.
00:23:35 Paul Zipster at 48 and George Sneeding at 50.
00:23:37 Good job there, Chicago.
00:23:40 2017, Chicago had the 16th pick and they picked Justin Patton, but I believe he was traded
00:23:48 to the Timberwolves.
00:23:49 I don't think they made that pick.
00:23:51 Yeah, because in the 2017 draft, the Bulls traded Jimmy Butler, got seven, picked Mark
00:23:57 Innan, which was a good pick if they had any developmental skills, except they didn't.
00:24:01 And so he went on and thrived in Utah instead.
00:24:05 But they would have had the third pick and could have picked Tatum, Josh Jackson, Fox.
00:24:09 And at the time, like obviously right now, you look back at the draft, Jason Tatum, you
00:24:12 pick Jason Tatum.
00:24:14 That really wasn't the case at the time.
00:24:15 It was Mark Foltz is the clear first pick.
00:24:17 Lonsdall is clear, too.
00:24:19 And then it was like, should you go Tatum or Josh Jackson?
00:24:22 Like that was a legitimate question.
00:24:23 And the fact that Danny Ainge was ready to take Tatum first, if he couldn't get a deal
00:24:27 done, people were like, what is he doing?
00:24:29 What is this guy like?
00:24:30 What does he see?
00:24:31 And clearly we all now know what he saw.
00:24:32 It's funny, like that draft is stacked in none of the stack guys were at the top except
00:24:37 Tatum.
00:24:38 Like Lonsdale is a fine player, but he's hurt and Fultz is fine now, but his career got
00:24:44 up to a terrible start.
00:24:45 Josh Jackson out of the league, who is fine?
00:24:49 If you look at box box value over replacement player, which is it's listed here, box score
00:24:54 estimate of the points per 100 possessions, the player contributed basically just one
00:24:57 number that tells you how valuable the player was to his team so far.
00:25:00 2017 draft that is Tatum first with the third pick.
00:25:04 And then it was Mitchell at 13, Bam at 14, Jared Allen at 22, Fox at five, and then Derek
00:25:10 White at 29, John Collins at 19.
00:25:13 And then you got guys marketing Lonzo, OJ, didn't know me.
00:25:15 Monty Morris, Josh Hart, like you said, stacked draft.
00:25:19 You got Kyle Kuzma in here, Malik Monk.
00:25:21 And I know it's still like recently.
00:25:24 This was only six years ago, but the top 20 players on this list are all legitimate NBA
00:25:30 players like rotation pieces in the NBA to excuse me to this day, which again, you'd
00:25:34 say like, oh, it wasn't that long ago.
00:25:38 And still a really good draft.
00:25:39 Like a lot of them are stars now.
00:25:41 So shout out to them.
00:25:42 Don't know if the Bulls would have made the right picks, but thank you to Danny Ainge
00:25:45 from Celtics fans everywhere for not making that dream.
00:25:50 How different history could have looked, but yeah, the Celtics schedule for the in-season
00:25:56 tournament was released.
00:25:59 We had Celtics schedule news on a recent podcast.
00:26:03 And now we have more.
00:26:04 Sam, you wrote about this for Celtics blog.
00:26:05 Do you want to give the right?
00:26:06 Yes.
00:26:07 The league has just been sprinkling breadcrumbs all week leading up to when you're listening
00:26:11 to this, today's schedule release at 3 PM in November, the Celtics will open their in-season
00:26:18 tournament play on November 10th against the Brooklyn nets in their group.
00:26:24 They've got Brooklyn, Toronto, Orlando, and Chicago the next Friday, the 17th, they'll
00:26:31 be at Toronto at seven 30.
00:26:34 They will be another Friday at Orlando.
00:26:37 Then Tuesday, the 28th, they'll host the Bulls.
00:26:40 They'll play four games in the group.
00:26:42 Still top team in the group advances.
00:26:45 And then the next best team that does not win their group in the conference gets a wild
00:26:51 card spot.
00:26:52 And then there's an 18 little knockout stage.
00:26:55 But yes, I did write about this for Celtics blog.
00:27:00 Going to try and open the damn link.
00:27:02 There we go.
00:27:04 Go ahead, computer.
00:27:05 You got it.
00:27:06 I wrote, I wrote some predictions and I predict they're going to win the group.
00:27:12 This group is garbage.
00:27:15 One team in this group made the playoffs last year.
00:27:18 It was the nets.
00:27:20 It was the nets who made the playoffs largely due to having Kevin Durant and Kyrie for half
00:27:25 the season.
00:27:28 Chicago probably going to suck towards the bottom of the league.
00:27:31 Might be one of the worst teams that there is Toronto.
00:27:34 Similar story.
00:27:36 Brooklyn is not going to be as good as they were last year.
00:27:39 Record wise.
00:27:40 Toronto is probably the second best team in this group.
00:27:42 And they're like, uh, maybe there'll be good.
00:27:45 Maybe they won't team depending on how these young guys continue to develop.
00:27:49 The Celtics have no business not winning this group.
00:27:52 They just don't.
00:27:54 They are worlds better, but prediction number two, you know how it goes.
00:27:58 They're going to make you sweat.
00:27:59 That's what they do.
00:28:01 You watch the playoffs last year.
00:28:03 I watched the playoffs last year and I was just as unhappy as ever.
00:28:06 Anybody.
00:28:07 It was terrible.
00:28:08 Did they almost make the finals?
00:28:10 Yes, but it was absolutely painful.
00:28:12 If you go back and you look at their records against these teams last season, it's not
00:28:17 the prettiest things.
00:28:18 They bullied the hell out of Toronto though.
00:28:20 Swept them.
00:28:21 Raptors.
00:28:22 Yeah.
00:28:23 Cooked.
00:28:24 Not very good.
00:28:25 See, that's the thing though with the Celtics.
00:28:26 They're good against good teams.
00:28:28 They're bad against bad teams, but they are also good against the average teams.
00:28:32 Like they will, they will clap any, any, that was the angle I took.
00:28:35 Like they played out into their competition like forever.
00:28:37 I think I even linked something he wrote.
00:28:40 But last year, three and one against Brooklyn, the one loss came after the trade.
00:28:46 So with this current group, it has Celtics blue, that million point lead at home made
00:28:51 me like a hundred bucks that day on insurance.
00:28:54 They split against Chicago when they lost, they got stomped in two blowouts and they
00:28:58 were one in three against Orlando.
00:29:00 They lost a home and home to home games rather on a weekend.
00:29:05 One of them was Rob's return and it was a disastrous play.
00:29:09 Orlando plays Boston really well.
00:29:11 Even that one win the Celtics had was a tight game at the beginning, very beginning of the
00:29:15 season.
00:29:17 So it wouldn't be the most shocking thing if the Celtics just kind of saw how bad they
00:29:21 could play without completely ruining this for everybody.
00:29:25 Celtics, by the way, odds on favorites to win this.
00:29:29 They are the favorite.
00:29:31 Yes.
00:29:33 I mean, because of how shit the group is.
00:29:35 Yeah.
00:29:36 For example, Denver has a kind of strong group.
00:29:38 It's Denver, New Orleans, Houston, Dallas, and LA Clippers.
00:29:43 Yeah, it's pretty good.
00:29:45 So like realistically, Denver's a real contending team for an NBA championship.
00:29:51 Dallas probably is getting there.
00:29:52 They had a great off season.
00:29:54 New Orleans with Zion's healthy was the top team in the West for two months last year.
00:29:59 Houston is trying to compete.
00:30:01 Now they went out and got free agents, albeit overpays, but still they brought in people
00:30:04 to play with their young core and the Clippers have quiet Paul George.
00:30:08 Whether those guys actually decide they want to take the floor is one thing, but they are
00:30:12 the guys on their team.
00:30:13 Right.
00:30:14 Yeah.
00:30:15 This Celtics group is just like, who's the best non Celtic in this group?
00:30:20 Paolo or bridges?
00:30:23 It's probably Lavina to Rose and that's not a good team.
00:30:27 They're not a good team, but those are good players.
00:30:29 They've both got players.
00:30:32 See Occam to second good player.
00:30:33 Yeah, bad.
00:30:34 But seriously, I know what you mean, though.
00:30:37 Like, did you put predictions down for like, Oh, I think they'll win this game, lose this
00:30:40 game.
00:30:41 I do that.
00:30:42 I didn't predict the games because when I wrote this up, the schedule was not out yet.
00:30:46 And I had to predict the games just quickly.
00:30:48 I think they win.
00:30:49 They go three in one.
00:30:50 They lose to the magic.
00:30:51 I think that's probably what happened in the in this in season.
00:30:53 I like it if they didn't do that.
00:30:56 Last prediction, Joe, Missoula used the in season tournament as an audition for playoff
00:31:00 minutes.
00:31:01 Here's why this is important.
00:31:03 Last year we saw Grant Williams acts from the rotation, right?
00:31:08 But there was nobody that Missoula used to replace him in the playoffs.
00:31:12 Really?
00:31:13 Sam Hauser barely played in the playoffs.
00:31:15 He was a key contributor all season.
00:31:17 We've talked about him on the show before where he was contributing good numbers as
00:31:21 a starter.
00:31:22 He was even better.
00:31:23 His percentage never dipped below 40% from what I remember I was talking about yet.
00:31:28 He did not play in the playoffs.
00:31:29 You might say, why, why would he not play in the playoffs?
00:31:32 Even his defense isn't that bad all season.
00:31:34 You saw teams trying to tackle and it didn't work.
00:31:37 It's because Missoula didn't trust him.
00:31:39 He hadn't seen him in any real games, any real high intensity games.
00:31:44 Will these tournament games be that there's no guarantee.
00:31:49 I mean, listen, I don't, I'm not convinced the fans are going to care about this, but
00:31:53 I don't think $500,000 in prize money for each player is going to do it either.
00:31:58 But maybe, maybe if they decide that it's important, however, the NBA wants to push
00:32:04 this to their organizations.
00:32:07 Sure.
00:32:08 I could see these games being real and competitive.
00:32:10 Why not?
00:32:11 So I think it could be a great like audition type thing for a higher level of play where
00:32:17 things are gritty out there.
00:32:19 It's not like going through the motion stuff in November and December like normal.
00:32:23 Agree.
00:32:24 I think it was Bobby Marks.
00:32:26 Yeah, it was Bobby Marks.
00:32:27 You said, I think the winner of this, excuse me, should get an automatic bid to the playoffs.
00:32:31 Like I think that in season term, we should get an automatic bid to play.
00:32:34 And his thing was, it shouldn't be, they get a certain seed.
00:32:37 They should get a top six seed, but it's still by, by seating.
00:32:40 So if the Celtics are the two seed and they win the in-season tournament, they stay the
00:32:43 two seed.
00:32:44 But if the piston somehow managed to win the in-season tournament, they will just get the
00:32:47 six seed and everything else changes accordingly.
00:32:50 So I mean, that's interesting.
00:32:52 I don't know.
00:32:53 I've seen all kinds of stuff pitched for this.
00:32:54 I think, I think it's really cool.
00:32:56 I think they should play around with the idea of, I think, legitimately getting stuff from
00:33:01 this other than this 500 grand prize money, because it really doesn't mean anything to
00:33:06 any of the stars.
00:33:07 The end of the bench guys.
00:33:08 Yes.
00:33:09 Like if you're making like, yeah, like yeah, extra 500 grand is like what, like an extra
00:33:13 50% of your contract, whatever they make.
00:33:16 But if you gave, I think the most intriguing one is like a 15th lottery pick where it's
00:33:22 a very low, very low chance of getting like into the top four, but just to like make it.
00:33:29 So yeah, maybe, maybe we could, maybe we get lucky.
00:33:33 Maybe we get lucky, but that's, do they get, do they get the 15th pick if they don't win
00:33:37 the lottery or they just get a chance to win a top four pick?
00:33:39 And then if they don't get a top four pick, they get nothing.
00:33:41 You know what I'm saying?
00:33:43 I think you get, I wouldn't say they get nothing, but they just get whatever pick they would
00:33:45 have.
00:33:46 I, I think you get the 15th lottery pick and if it jumps into the top four, you get it.
00:33:53 If not, you just get whatever pick you have.
00:33:55 Yeah, that's fine.
00:33:56 My other idea was I think you either get the tendency.
00:34:02 I think the playoffs is too much.
00:34:03 I think you get a spot in the play in.
00:34:05 So if like, let's say the pistons or the, you know, Pacers or the magic managed to win
00:34:11 this tournament, they automatically get guaranteed the 10th seat, right?
00:34:16 And that that's big for those teams, right?
00:34:17 Like if the Pacers or magic really wanted to push for it and they get guaranteed the
00:34:21 tendency and the play in, like that's huge experience for them.
00:34:24 So I think that's it.
00:34:25 But then to make sure there's also incentive for these other teams, I think you say, all
00:34:32 right, if you win the in season tournament and you make the finals, you get home court
00:34:35 advantage.
00:34:37 And so that way either, if the Celtics are in the in season tournament, the bucks are
00:34:41 in the in season nuggets.
00:34:42 They're like, all right, if we really want to look ahead, like maybe let's get some.
00:34:45 Maybe there's like a prize.
00:34:46 Like, it's like a like a pick your prize type thing.
00:34:49 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:34:50 No, I think it's like when you win like a scavenger hunt and they have like little like
00:34:54 prizes for the kids.
00:34:55 They can get like, yeah, like matchbox or in my elementary school or in my elementary
00:35:01 school, we have the prize box.
00:35:02 Like if you want something or you run a contest at lunch, the principal, Mr. Smith, he'd call
00:35:06 you up.
00:35:07 He's like, go on to the prize box and you reach in, you grab something.
00:35:09 It was nothing like it was just like he said, it was a matchbox car or something stupid,
00:35:12 but it was it was fun because you got up in front of the whole school and you picked a
00:35:15 prize.
00:35:16 So that was fun.
00:35:17 But yeah, in season tournament is out.
00:35:19 The next Celtics thing we have Jason Tatum talking about J.P.'s extension.
00:35:25 Excuse me, this was from Gary Washburn, the Boston Globe.
00:35:29 Jason Tatum talking about Jalen Brown's extension.
00:35:31 Much deserved.
00:35:32 It was a no brainer.
00:35:33 So I'm happy for him and his family.
00:35:35 It's life changing.
00:35:36 It's a big deal.
00:35:37 I'm happy we're going to have him for however much longer we've got him.
00:35:39 I'm happy about that.
00:35:40 Pretty generic.
00:35:41 Good for my teammate quote.
00:35:42 But Sam, you wrote on here, Jason Tatum's next, right?
00:35:45 Yeah, he has to be.
00:35:46 I mean, next summer we're going to have this whole thing again.
00:35:50 I don't think there's going to be as much back and forth on whether they should do it
00:35:54 or not.
00:35:55 It's going to be a given.
00:35:56 This is your franchise guy.
00:35:57 You're going to pay him.
00:35:58 But I'd imagine the number might be a little bit bigger than Jalen's just because a year
00:36:01 later the cat might grow or I don't know how it all works.
00:36:05 But just listening to you read Tatum's quote does make me think a bit.
00:36:09 It's like, OK, he is completely focused on being with the Celtics.
00:36:14 There's no question of him trying to mess around and test free agency.
00:36:19 It sounds like he legitimately is next.
00:36:22 It sounds like next summer they're going to come to an agreement where he inks a big extension.
00:36:26 He's going to make a ton of money.
00:36:28 And he's all about it.
00:36:29 I remember early in Tatum's career, one thing, I think on the show we would talk about it
00:36:33 a couple of times at least, was like, oh, is he going to go play for another team?
00:36:37 He grew up a Lakers fan.
00:36:39 People loved that narrative for a while.
00:36:41 It's kind of died out ever since the Celtics have really taken the next step and become
00:36:44 a powerhouse, except they just don't win titles.
00:36:49 But yeah, I think this is kind of good for the future if you really want to read into
00:36:53 it other than being generic.
00:36:55 And the answer, yes, Tatum has to be next.
00:36:57 There's no doubt about it.
00:36:58 Where else are you going to spend the money?
00:37:00 There's no alternative.
00:37:01 Tatum is the best candidate for the Supermax.
00:37:05 Pretty easy.
00:37:06 If you give it to Brown, you can easily give the Tatum.
00:37:08 It's a no brainer.
00:37:09 Agreed.
00:37:10 I mean, Celtics were never going to not pay Jason Tatum.
00:37:13 It's just he is happy for Jalen Brown to get paid.
00:37:15 Now they're going to have both their guys on max contracts, which again, let's not act
00:37:19 like that's a new thing in the NBA.
00:37:21 Like a lot of teams have two guys in max contracts because they're their two best players.
00:37:24 It is what it is, right?
00:37:26 Like that's that's how the NBA works.
00:37:27 You want to keep your guys, you pay them money.
00:37:29 The real interesting thing is the Derek White extension, I think coming up, which we don't
00:37:32 have to talk in depth about, but he's going to be eligible later this summer or closer
00:37:35 to the season.
00:37:36 Who cares?
00:37:37 Pay him.
00:37:38 I think that'll be important.
00:37:39 I agree.
00:37:40 Seriously, you're at the point where like you're in this deep.
00:37:43 Do it like, yes, I understand that the second apron is a motherfucker.
00:37:48 Like make no mistake, that thing is going to punish teams that overspend.
00:37:53 You're going to have your draft pick drop to the end of the round.
00:37:55 You're not going to be able to take back more money in trades.
00:37:58 The whole nine.
00:37:59 It's not great.
00:38:00 Not ideal for teams that are trying to stay relevant.
00:38:04 Kind of.
00:38:05 Yeah, but I don't know.
00:38:06 Like you're in this far.
00:38:08 You can spend that money on Derek White.
00:38:10 If you don't pay Derek White, you can't really spend it anywhere else.
00:38:13 No, right.
00:38:14 Oh, you're right.
00:38:15 Twenty five mil.
00:38:16 That's what I'm looking at for Derek White.
00:38:18 Hopefully they can get it done.
00:38:20 That's what I'll be looking for.
00:38:22 Marcus Smart was working out in Memphis Grizzlies gear.
00:38:26 Sammy put this on here.
00:38:28 I assume you're not too happy.
00:38:29 It wasn't a great sight for you.
00:38:31 Ruined your day.
00:38:32 Yeah.
00:38:33 Well, I saw it today after we learned like Porzingis is going to be out, I guess not
00:38:37 out.
00:38:38 But like he's dealing with an injury.
00:38:39 We learned that the report was, in fact, true.
00:38:43 And then you see pictures of smart working out in Grizzlies gear.
00:38:46 And you're just like the Wolverine meme of him looking at the photo of whatever he's
00:38:52 longing for.
00:38:53 So putting it up on the screen for those watching on YouTube.
00:38:56 Yeah.
00:38:57 Smart work out of this Grizzlies gear later today.
00:39:01 Get to figure out when he's come back to the garden.
00:39:04 We do.
00:39:05 We will know.
00:39:06 Number one on my power rankings on Celtics blog.
00:39:07 Go walk.
00:39:08 Go read it.
00:39:09 Yeah.
00:39:10 Well, it's going to be a big game.
00:39:11 Yeah.
00:39:12 Go read it when it's out.
00:39:13 That's going to be out.
00:39:14 Does that when the schedule is out, it'll be out.
00:39:15 But spoiler alert, power ranking number one game of the season.
00:39:19 There we go.
00:39:20 There we go.
00:39:21 Big time above Celtics Lakers on Christmas.
00:39:24 You put smart return above Christmas against you only get returns every once in a while.
00:39:29 Seriously, you only get like big time returns.
00:39:32 Like I'd imagine these tickets plus at least Lakers not home.
00:39:35 Okay.
00:39:36 Yeah.
00:39:37 No games like if that game was not on Christmas, the home Celtics Lakers game would be the
00:39:43 better game.
00:39:44 Is that your list though?
00:39:45 It made your list though.
00:39:46 Christmas against Lakers.
00:39:47 Yes.
00:39:48 On the list.
00:39:49 Good.
00:39:50 Good.
00:39:51 Just checking.
00:39:52 Anyways, last thing we have for the day is an email.
00:39:53 Actually we got from a list.
00:39:56 Mailbag RJ Johnson, who I have seen in the comments, I believe before emailed us and
00:40:02 we I Sam checks the email.
00:40:04 I rarely check the email, but I get all of them.
00:40:07 If you'd like to email us, you can.
00:40:09 It's just HBTC pod at gmail.com.
00:40:13 I can put it on the screen right now because I'm going to pull up the actual email so you
00:40:16 guys can see it.
00:40:19 But if you'd like to email us at HBTC pod at gmail.com, we read it, we'll hear it, we'll
00:40:25 see DMs and stuff too if you want to do it that way.
00:40:27 But yeah, I mean, we got an email from RJ Johnson who was very kind and I thought it
00:40:32 was very cool.
00:40:33 Sam sent it to me today and we're going to react to his questions and if you send us
00:40:37 emails, we'll absolutely react to your questions.
00:40:39 This is something it's August.
00:40:40 We need help.
00:40:41 So if you want to ask us stuff, go ahead.
00:40:44 Send us emails.
00:40:45 RJ Johnson said, "Hi gents, this is Celtics West on Celtics blog and RJ Johnson."
00:40:49 A legend by the way.
00:40:50 Yeah.
00:40:51 He was actually pleased to see me on the round table.
00:40:55 My debut on Celtics blog.
00:40:56 This is the guy that said hello.
00:40:58 Yeah.
00:40:59 RJ Johnson, 50 year long Celtics fan almost and I'm really enjoying your podcast.
00:41:03 Old fashioned and I like email over DMs, chat, et cetera.
00:41:06 Send us emails, please.
00:41:07 If you're listening to the podcast and you'd rather send us an email, HBTC pod at gmail.com.
00:41:11 We'll look at them, definitely.
00:41:14 He asked a couple of questions.
00:41:15 We're going to read them then.
00:41:16 Also, he said, "Seriously, you two are way better to listen to than Sean Grandy and I
00:41:19 look forward to each new episode.
00:41:20 Keep having fun."
00:41:21 Hey, we appreciate you.
00:41:23 Well, Sean Grandy and the fellas stole our old name, so there's that.
00:41:28 Also true.
00:41:29 Friend of the pod, Sean Grandy though.
00:41:30 Celtics fan from when Jim Ard, he did, from when Jim Ard wore 34.
00:41:34 RJ Johnson, that's a throwback.
00:41:36 But let's go over the questions.
00:41:38 Let's say Blake decides not to return to Celtics this year.
00:41:40 Do you think Luke Cornette can provide quality minutes filling in for Rob Al, KP, over the
00:41:44 course of the season?
00:41:45 We kind of talked about this a little earlier.
00:41:47 I'm of the mind they should probably get another big man who does something a little different
00:41:51 to Luke Cornette.
00:41:52 I had this conversation with Bobby Manning on Twitter today.
00:41:53 Luke Cornette's a fine defender.
00:41:55 He's a fine straight up guy.
00:41:57 He can block some shots.
00:41:58 He can play straight up defense in the post.
00:42:00 Maybe you bring in somebody with a little bit more athleticism, like a Fareed or a Bismarck
00:42:04 Biambo or somebody who can shoot a little bit like a Christian Wood or a Jamaican Green.
00:42:09 I like Fareed, but I think he should get another big man.
00:42:12 If that's Blake, it's fine.
00:42:13 But even then, I would be fine if they want to get another big who can do a little bit
00:42:16 of stuff because I really don't see many other holes on this roster unless you want to get
00:42:20 a guard instead.
00:42:22 At that point, it's picking at straws.
00:42:23 But I'd like to see them bring in another big, and I hope it's Blake.
00:42:26 But if not, I do think that's something the Celtics should get, is an insurance thing
00:42:30 for the end of the bench.
00:42:32 Yeah.
00:42:33 I think personally, Cornette did a fine job last season when he was called upon.
00:42:36 He did have moments where he was like, "What is this guy doing?"
00:42:39 He appeared in what, 71 games last year?
00:42:41 69.
00:42:42 Nice.
00:42:43 69 games?
00:42:44 Okay.
00:42:45 Yeah.
00:42:46 I should have remembered that.
00:42:47 But he was really serviceable in all of his games.
00:42:48 He kind of beat out Vonley at the beginning of the year for that helping big guy in the
00:42:52 rotation thing, and then they cut Vonley or traded him, and then he got cut by the Spurs.
00:42:56 So I personally am not fearful of a world where Cornette has to fill time for the Celtics,
00:43:03 more fearful of why he's actually having to fill that time.
00:43:06 But I think he was fine last year.
00:43:07 I think he earned a spot.
00:43:09 They technically haven't re-signed him yet, right?
00:43:11 Oh yes.
00:43:12 No, no, no.
00:43:13 He's on the roster.
00:43:14 He's on the roster.
00:43:15 He was on a non-guaranteed contract, but he's on the roster.
00:43:16 Yes.
00:43:17 Yes, yes, yes.
00:43:18 So Cornette is there.
00:43:19 I think Cornette will be good, but maybe grab an extra guy.
00:43:20 But my pick, if not him, Farid.
00:43:22 Farid rules.
00:43:23 I love Farid.
00:43:24 Go watch the video.
00:43:25 Watch us watch the Farid highlights.
00:43:27 He's a dog in the G League right now.
00:43:29 He looks like prime Kenneth Farid.
00:43:32 It's like, "What's wrong with this?
00:43:34 Why is nobody signing him?"
00:43:35 This guy rules.
00:43:36 His highlights are fantastic.
00:43:38 January 24th, Farid said, "I'm ready.
00:43:41 I'm focused.
00:43:42 I'm locked in.
00:43:43 Trying to make a return to the NBA."
00:43:44 So, hey man, hopefully you can get there.
00:43:46 I'd love to see him get an NBA.
00:43:47 He deserves another chance.
00:43:48 Hopefully, we'll promote him enough.
00:43:49 Maybe.
00:43:50 Maybe.
00:43:51 Maybe we ask Kenneth Farid.
00:43:53 Next question from RJ here.
00:43:55 Which current Celtics player is best suited to fill Marcus's role of reminding Jason Jalen
00:44:00 that they can't just walk onto the court and expect victory?
00:44:03 I think D-White has earned respect with this game, but do you think he fills the personal
00:44:06 style?
00:44:07 To fill that role, I'll be in a different style.
00:44:10 I think if the Jays still need that reminding, then there's a bigger issue.
00:44:14 And I'm not saying they didn't in years past because they did, but if there was ever a
00:44:17 time for them to finally figure it out and not be that way, it is now that Marcus Smart's
00:44:21 gone and maybe that's what gets them snapped into place.
00:44:24 Do they have no choice?
00:44:25 Yeah.
00:44:26 They have no choice.
00:44:27 I have an answer to this.
00:44:28 My answer is Al Horford too.
00:44:29 I assume that's what you're going to say.
00:44:30 My answer is Sam Cassell.
00:44:32 I think that's part of the reason they brought him onto the coaching staff.
00:44:36 Make no mistake, he's got plenty of experience.
00:44:38 He was with Doc for years on the assistant staff.
00:44:42 Was in Philly last year as part of that staff.
00:44:45 But he's a former player.
00:44:48 Guys in the league respect former players a lot, especially somebody like Cassell that
00:44:51 was a part of a couple of winning teams.
00:44:54 So I wouldn't be shocked if he's the one that has to set them straight every once in a while.
00:44:58 I could see them respecting him.
00:45:00 And I don't necessarily think there's going to be another guy on the team that's going
00:45:05 to do that.
00:45:06 Maybe Al Horford.
00:45:08 I think Cassell is the man to say, get your head out of your ass, buddy.
00:45:12 I hope so.
00:45:13 I hope that's what they brought him in for.
00:45:14 I mean, Charles Lee's there too.
00:45:15 He's another well-respected assistant.
00:45:17 They do have guys on the roster that should be able to.
00:45:20 Maybe it's Phil Presi.
00:45:21 We don't know.
00:45:22 It's another former NBA player.
00:45:23 He did.
00:45:24 He did kind of.
00:45:28 And then the last question, RJ or second class, I guess, hit us with, do you have, do you
00:45:33 two have any more intel on what roles members of Celtics Missoula's, excuse me, coach Missoula's
00:45:37 staff will have both in game and on the player development front one?
00:45:41 No, we're not that into.
00:45:43 And I wish we were.
00:45:44 That'd be pretty cool.
00:45:45 But if I had to guess it's Charles Lee is the lead assistant.
00:45:49 That is his role.
00:45:50 He is the top assistant on the team.
00:45:51 I assume Sam Cassell helps in the role of I am a former NBA player.
00:45:55 Let me do a little bit of what Damon Stoudemire did, where he's helping the guys.
00:45:59 He's given that perspective.
00:46:00 Phil Presi also probably do that a little bit.
00:46:02 Emil Jefferson's there to probably more is that he feels like the closest thing to a
00:46:08 players coach in the sense that, I mean, he's not all that much older than them, but like
00:46:11 he'll probably like relate to them the best if that's something that needs to be done
00:46:16 anymore.
00:46:17 Does that make sense?
00:46:18 Like he seemed to remember when Evan Turner was on the bench.
00:46:19 I know what you mean, but I just think he's there because he's Tatum's friend, which is
00:46:23 possible.
00:46:24 I think that's a cool thing to say, though.
00:46:27 He's definitely done enough to earn it.
00:46:28 He had a career.
00:46:29 He was on the Celtics training camp roster a couple of times.
00:46:32 He was on the preseason roster.
00:46:33 He wore number 20 at one time.
00:46:35 And then obviously Sam Cassell is all the things we just talked about, like the player
00:46:40 development, the mindset stuff, and that stuff's important too.
00:46:43 So I don't know specific roles, though.
00:46:45 I don't know who will focus on defense, offense, et cetera.
00:46:48 Yeah.
00:46:49 No, I mean, there's not much more to say than that.
00:46:51 I have no assistant coach Intel.
00:46:53 The only take I have is the same Cassell take.
00:46:55 I just think he's there to set them straight.
00:46:57 And I just to piggyback on you when they lost him and Stoudemire, it feel like it felt like
00:47:02 it was something that was really felt like they really missed him.
00:47:07 Once he left, they kind of went on a weird skid.
00:47:09 They blew a couple of leads.
00:47:10 Grant said he was going to make both and then things went to hell.
00:47:13 Right.
00:47:14 Yeah.
00:47:15 Yeah.
00:47:16 And I feel like it wasn't covered enough or talked about enough that were like, oh, they
00:47:19 really lost like one of the top assistants in the season.
00:47:22 In a season where Joe Mazzola was thrust into the spotlight.
00:47:25 Joe Mazzola just becomes Will Smith in the room by himself.
00:47:30 And then the last thing RJ said, finally, when will you guys sell Matt the rat stuffies?
00:47:36 We still need to make a lot of.
00:47:37 Yeah, we need to still make you guys a ratless T-shirts.
00:47:41 We did promise that.
00:47:42 So we need to get on that.
00:47:44 I want to have it.
00:47:45 I would wear a hat.
00:47:46 How do you know?
00:47:47 We'll make the T-shirts.
00:47:50 Maybe we'll sell a specific design that you can get on hats or T-shirts.
00:47:54 We'll figure something out.
00:47:55 We'll find a way.
00:47:56 We'll do our research.
00:47:57 But thank you to if anybody knows somebody that can do it, let us know.
00:48:01 Yes.
00:48:02 Let us know.
00:48:03 Graphic design stuff.
00:48:04 But thank you to RJ for hitting us up in the comments.
00:48:06 We appreciate it.
00:48:07 I thought that was super cool.
00:48:08 Yes.
00:48:09 And if you want to reach us again, HPTC pod at Gmail dot com.
00:48:12 I think that's dope.
00:48:13 So we'll definitely read out your responses if you send us an email or a DM or any of
00:48:17 that stuff.
00:48:18 But thank you to RJ once again.
00:48:19 All right, let's jump.
00:48:20 Fifty minutes.
00:48:21 Fifty minutes in mid-August.
00:48:22 Lots of Celtics stuff.
00:48:23 We got plenty of stuff for you.
00:48:26 Let's get into the NBA here, starting with, I believe, Pat Bev quote on Trae Young is
00:48:31 the first thing we got.
00:48:32 So I'll let you lead that because I know you put it in the sheet.
00:48:35 It is.
00:48:36 Pat Bev, interesting take.
00:48:39 Something about these guys that used to play in Minnesota or played for Minnesota or currently
00:48:43 do and trying to say that somebody is changing the game.
00:48:48 I think Carl Anthony Times even, you know, he said it on Paul George, not Pat.
00:48:51 There's too many pods now.
00:48:52 I get lose track anyways.
00:48:54 Yeah.
00:48:55 Whether it's Kat saying he changed the game.
00:48:56 Now you have Pat Bev saying Trae Young is reinventing the game.
00:49:01 Whatever Steph Curry is leaving over, he's taking it and running with it.
00:49:06 Took his team to the Eastern Conference finals.
00:49:08 Fact.
00:49:09 He's one big on the road.
00:49:10 Fact.
00:49:11 So you have to give him a lot of credit.
00:49:12 I suppose all of this is true.
00:49:13 He's not lying, but I'm not convinced he's necessarily Stephen Curry.
00:49:17 I think I different player.
00:49:19 I think we've talked about this before.
00:49:20 I agree.
00:49:21 I think Pat Bev is just doesn't have the correct definition of reinventing because he said
00:49:27 Trae Young is reinventing the game.
00:49:29 And then he said he is following in the footsteps of Stephen Curry.
00:49:33 Like that is not reinventing.
00:49:34 That is, but he's also the same guy.
00:49:38 That is like the exact opposite of reinventing.
00:49:40 Like I think you could argue any other player in the league is reinventing more than Trae
00:49:45 Young, who is.
00:49:46 I would say that's not a knock on trail, but in fairness to Pat Bev, Steph Curry did a
00:49:50 lot to change the game.
00:49:52 So I guess what he's saying is he'll be the guy to carry on the torch in which I agree
00:49:57 type of area.
00:49:58 Yeah, I suppose.
00:49:59 I don't know.
00:50:00 I don't know.
00:50:01 I see the angle he was going for.
00:50:04 My question is, does Trae Young win a championship, Sam?
00:50:07 Maybe that's my question.
00:50:08 Not right now.
00:50:09 No, I think a lot is going to have to change.
00:50:12 I don't think we should completely throw out that run where they actually made a run, though.
00:50:17 I agree.
00:50:18 I don't think he wins one Atlanta, but I think he moves to another team and he might get
00:50:21 one as I think there were flashes against the Celtics where you were like, wow, this
00:50:25 guy can take over a game.
00:50:26 I mean, he took over games better than anybody on the Celtics in that series.
00:50:30 It felt like and you can mock Madison Square Garden all you want.
00:50:34 He killed the Knicks.
00:50:36 It wasn't a great next team, but he I know.
00:50:39 I know, but like that is a playoff series at Madison Square Garden with a crowd that
00:50:42 was I mean, they beat the one seed Sixers if you really want to, you know, crown.
00:50:48 He had Ben Simmons, who at the time was a really great defender, still kind of is guarding
00:50:52 him and chasing him around as a 610 guy guarding a 6 1 guy on the perimeter.
00:50:59 He deserves credit.
00:51:00 Trae Young gives credit.
00:51:01 All these rankings without him in the top five, I think are crazy.
00:51:03 Yeah, I've point guards in the East.
00:51:05 Trae Young's trailing is good.
00:51:06 I think we're ranking under.
00:51:07 Well, you know, we've only got more videos.
00:51:11 Yeah, it didn't do very well.
00:51:12 You're right now.
00:51:13 I don't care.
00:51:16 Next thing we have here is Jamal Murray is going to be sitting out of the World Cup.
00:51:21 Another guy missing the World Cup in addition to Porting is he was going to play for Team
00:51:24 Canada, but.
00:51:25 It's an Instagram post.
00:51:27 Nuggets fans handshake players not playing in the World Cup.
00:51:31 Jamal Murray said when I came into training camp, I wanted to see how my body would respond
00:51:35 after a long and demanding season.
00:51:36 If I would be physically able to compete at the highest level required for the World Cup
00:51:39 in consultation with medical staff and the team, it is clear that the additional recovery
00:51:43 is required and I've made the difficult decision not to participate in the tournament.
00:51:46 It's still a dream of mine to represent Canada at the Olympics and I will support the team
00:51:49 every step of the way as they pursue this goal.
00:51:51 Sam added some context here.
00:51:53 Thank you, Sam.
00:51:54 Missed the entire 2122 season with an ACL tear played 85 total games in 2223, including
00:51:59 the playoffs.
00:52:00 Excellent in the postseason, averaging 26, seven and five and a half assists.
00:52:05 Good playoff run for seven rebounds.
00:52:07 Seven seven assists, five rebounds.
00:52:12 Incredible in the postseason.
00:52:13 Won a title, obviously.
00:52:16 Get your rest.
00:52:17 I mean, you could just chill and watching some horses and he's literally all of Team
00:52:20 Serbia.
00:52:21 I think tomorrow Murray can set out with Shea Yelders Alexander carrying the torch.
00:52:25 It's true.
00:52:27 That's my take there.
00:52:28 I think it would have been kind of interesting if he did get to play.
00:52:30 Do I think Nuggets fans should be concerned with this?
00:52:33 Probably not.
00:52:34 I think he's a bit weird.
00:52:36 I think that he's saying he's still recovering.
00:52:37 It's just kind of weird.
00:52:38 Like I don't know.
00:52:39 Like that doesn't seem super duper normal.
00:52:41 I get it.
00:52:42 It's a long, long season.
00:52:43 He didn't even play the year before, so his body's getting back up to speed and he clearly
00:52:47 wasn't slowing down because he did play so well in the playoffs.
00:52:50 But I just do wonder, like what's going on?
00:52:53 This reads, I'm tired.
00:52:54 Let me rest.
00:52:55 That's what I'm.
00:52:56 I guess I wouldn't read.
00:52:57 Sure.
00:52:58 But maybe I guess we'll have to see.
00:52:59 I don't know.
00:53:00 All right.
00:53:01 You want to do Sam's Reddit post of the day.
00:53:05 Yes.
00:53:06 Hit me with what you got.
00:53:08 This is slowly becoming my favorite part because I don't know anything about it.
00:53:10 I get to rely, react.
00:53:12 Yes.
00:53:13 So this is from user 2021 dark moss three S's XP.
00:53:19 He posts on the NBA subreddit or she is.
00:53:22 What is your quote unquote?
00:53:24 There is nothing you can say to me that would ever change my opinion.
00:53:28 NBA opinion in the context would be this goes beyond unpopular, beyond bold, beyond controversial,
00:53:36 an opinion that irrespective of its merits, if God himself came down and said otherwise,
00:53:42 you wouldn't change your opinion if you believe in God.
00:53:44 Some people don't.
00:53:45 An opinion you hold so firmly that even if the person or team that opinion was about
00:53:52 said otherwise, you still wouldn't change it.
00:53:55 Man, that's a tough question to think about.
00:53:59 I don't.
00:54:00 The top comment is somebody with a Pistons tag that says this is our year.
00:54:04 I saw that.
00:54:05 Yes.
00:54:06 I'm trying to not look at the comments first so I can think of one.
00:54:10 I don't know.
00:54:11 Like one of my hottest takes I've said on the pod was if you put Ben Simmons in Yannis's
00:54:17 shoes on the box, he would have won an MVP.
00:54:20 And my I think I've said this multiple times on here.
00:54:22 My my context is Ben Simmons was good at everything except shooting.
00:54:27 He was like peak Ben Simmons.
00:54:30 Great at driving to the hoop.
00:54:31 Could score great playmaker, probably a better playmaker than than Yannis.
00:54:35 So if you put him on that box team with Drew shooting the ball, Chris shooting the ball,
00:54:39 Brooke shooting the ball and then caught it and whatever guy you want to like shooters
00:54:43 around him and not pair him with literally one of maybe two players in the league who
00:54:48 has to be in the paint, which is the one thing Ben Simmons shouldn't be playing with.
00:54:52 I think he would have been an all NBA player every year and probably would have won an
00:54:57 MVP if you put him in the exact situation Yannis was in the I.
00:55:00 I genuinely think Ben Simmons could have won an MVP.
00:55:03 I think your argument is good, but I just don't think the mindset was there.
00:55:06 I just think even in Philly, like there were times where they were set up to be so good.
00:55:11 I mean, they had that team with him, Redick, Jimmy, Tobias Harrison and Bede.
00:55:15 They didn't make it past that Kawhi Raptors team.
00:55:18 Obviously, they were the title team.
00:55:21 I agree.
00:55:22 I agree.
00:55:23 They were good, but that's effectively JJ Redick and four non shooters.
00:55:28 Try to be.
00:55:29 Well, if he's one of your if he's your second best shooter, then that's probably not a great.
00:55:35 It's not perfect.
00:55:36 Spacing lineup.
00:55:37 No, it's not perfect, but I just don't think like he he just he's mentally weak.
00:55:43 Like you just see like asked out of Philadelphia after things didn't go well.
00:55:47 Hasn't really played for Brooklyn, like went on the Redick pod last year and was like,
00:55:52 poor me.
00:55:53 It didn't do it.
00:55:54 Hasn't really like done anything to just get himself back out there.
00:55:57 I don't know if I really believe in that.
00:56:00 I'm not saying your take is outrageous.
00:56:01 It makes sense, but I just think Ben Simmons is just like a weird character where it's
00:56:07 just not going to work.
00:56:09 Mine is that Zach Levine sucks.
00:56:11 I just don't think I don't think he's a winning player.
00:56:14 I don't think that his stats are positive.
00:56:18 I don't care how many points he averages.
00:56:19 I don't think you're putting them on it.
00:56:21 You know, it could happen.
00:56:22 Putting them on a team that's going to be really successful.
00:56:24 It just doesn't feel that way.
00:56:26 It feels like Chicago has done everything they can to build a successful team around
00:56:29 him.
00:56:30 Make no mistake.
00:56:32 It hasn't all worked out perfectly.
00:56:34 Boosevich, kind of an old school player, needs the ball down low to Rosen.
00:56:38 Old school needs the ball in the mid range.
00:56:40 Like there's a lot of issues with the current core when they had Lonzo healthy.
00:56:44 They were very good.
00:56:45 They were towards the top of the conference.
00:56:47 So in fairness to him in that respect, but it's just one of those things like, I don't
00:56:53 know, it hasn't been proven wrong yet.
00:56:55 So I'm going to stand on it that I'm just not impressed with them.
00:56:58 I'm not.
00:56:59 Where did this hate for Zach Levine start?
00:57:02 Like I don't even understand where I don't even remember.
00:57:04 I just think people started comparing him to like Jalen Brown.
00:57:07 And I was like, this is ridiculous.
00:57:08 The guy's never even like been competitive in the playoffs.
00:57:10 He's never played in those tough games.
00:57:13 And I mean, they had that one series against Milwaukee where they took a game off him.
00:57:17 I think the game they won, he didn't play in.
00:57:20 All right.
00:57:21 I'm Jalen Brown is better than Zach Levine.
00:57:23 Obviously, the defense.
00:57:24 I think I just got sick of seeing those posts.
00:57:26 And I was like, what are we doing?
00:57:27 Like this isn't even close.
00:57:29 I think I agree.
00:57:30 Jalen Brown's better player.
00:57:31 If you put Zach Levine in the position Jalen Brown's been put in, like, of course, you
00:57:38 would have won more.
00:57:39 It hasn't happened yet.
00:57:40 All right.
00:57:41 Like he just he's played like four playoff games.
00:57:45 He's been the league as long as Marcus.
00:57:48 Are we really going to go back and look at the teams?
00:57:49 I don't want this to turn into me defending Zach Levine because that's what it always
00:57:52 turns into.
00:57:53 But are we really going to compare the teams Jalen Brown has had to the teams Zach Levine
00:57:56 has had?
00:57:57 No, like Jalen Brown has been undoubtedly set up for success.
00:58:00 Make no mistake.
00:58:01 Levine should have more than four playoff games played in nine seasons if he's legitimately
00:58:06 like a positive impact player.
00:58:09 You think if Jalen Brown was on the same team Zach Levine was on, they would have been the
00:58:12 playoffs more.
00:58:14 Maybe.
00:58:15 You really can't say.
00:58:19 I don't know, man.
00:58:20 Especially in the conference finals.
00:58:21 It's tough to point at that, but I don't think it's the most egregious thing.
00:58:27 This is your nothing you can say that changed the opinion.
00:58:29 Yeah, this is like you just can't change my mind.
00:58:32 Like Zach Levine, he's playing against me and the boys were going to win.
00:58:37 Looking at some of these things here.
00:58:38 Sons win the championship in 07 of Dion and Mario aren't suspended for putting their tippy
00:58:42 toes on the court.
00:58:44 That's funny.
00:58:45 This guy with the Spurs tag.
00:58:47 There has been some rigging done in the draft lottery.
00:58:49 I think everyone's kind of in on that one.
00:58:51 Everybody's like an agreement.
00:58:54 The camp Peyton Sonics teams were the best was the best to lose to the Bulls in the finals.
00:59:00 It's very random.
00:59:01 Kobe isn't topped in all time.
00:59:04 Sure.
00:59:05 Kevin Durant should get his jersey retired in OKC.
00:59:08 I think that's I would agree.
00:59:11 I think he should.
00:59:12 I don't know, man.
00:59:13 That's like the Ray Allen thing here.
00:59:15 Except Durant's literally the best player that's ever been on that team since they moved.
00:59:19 So it's a little different, but and he also played on the team for more than what?
00:59:23 How many seasons?
00:59:24 Two, three seasons.
00:59:25 Allen was on the team for five years.
00:59:27 Durant was on the team from since they arrived till 2016.
00:59:31 So what?
00:59:32 Seven years in OKC itself.
00:59:34 Four, five, six, seven, eight, nine years.
00:59:37 No, no, no.
00:59:39 Since they actually got to Oklahoma.
00:59:41 Eight years with OKC, but nine years with the franchise.
00:59:43 Yes.
00:59:44 Because like Sean Kemp's jersey is retired for the you know, I'm saying like, no, no,
00:59:47 I get it.
00:59:48 It's like, I don't know.
00:59:49 That's a tough one.
00:59:50 Like, I think the way you leave kind of does matter.
00:59:52 Like they didn't win a title.
00:59:55 It's not the Celtics.
00:59:56 It's not a title or bust franchise.
00:59:59 But yeah, I do think there is some something to be said about the way you leave a team.
01:00:05 That move with Durant is like the ultimate villain move like ever.
01:00:09 He went and joined the Warriors, which we already talked about today, oddly enough.
01:00:13 And he did it after OKC got beaten by the Warriors and they had the Warriors on the
01:00:16 ropes.
01:00:17 So how how as a player on that Thunder team, do you come back the next season and think
01:00:23 to yourself that you can't beat the Warriors if Durant stays?
01:00:26 I don't think.
01:00:27 And I'm a Katie guy like that's my guy.
01:00:29 I like him.
01:00:30 But I think at the end of the day, they will retire his number.
01:00:33 They've already let guys wear it.
01:00:36 They've given it to like practice team guys.
01:00:38 Oh, I didn't know that.
01:00:39 I believe you.
01:00:40 I forget.
01:00:41 I think PJ Dozier was given thirty five.
01:00:42 Three of player.
01:00:43 Preach it over and never played in OKC, did he?
01:00:47 I could be.
01:00:48 I don't know.
01:00:49 But I don't know.
01:00:51 I remember seeing like the game to some dude that was like, who's this guy?
01:00:55 Which was clearly like a slight.
01:00:57 They were like, here, go out there, Jimmy, and wear this.
01:01:01 Thirty five to wear eleven players.
01:01:05 You're right.
01:01:06 PJ Dozier in twenty eighty and while I look at you, holy shit, I don't know.
01:01:09 I didn't even know he played there.
01:01:11 Yeah, he did wear it.
01:01:12 He's the only one since I don't know.
01:01:15 I think they should.
01:01:16 Other other teams here.
01:01:17 Dame is not a winning basketball player.
01:01:19 I disagree with that.
01:01:20 That's the Levine take.
01:01:21 I disagree, though, because except Dame's one playoff series before.
01:01:25 Yeah, except except Dame has literally won multiple playoff series on game winning shots.
01:01:32 Somebody said, I want a good doll.
01:01:36 Somebody said replace Kyrie with Dame.
01:01:38 Then I agree.
01:01:40 I think that's unfair as well.
01:01:42 It's going to be stayed in shape.
01:01:45 Possible injuries are bad.
01:01:47 Yeah, good.
01:01:48 Yeah.
01:01:49 Unless they happen to get your team.
01:01:50 They're like, yeah, Paul Pierce was the best one.
01:01:53 The one competitor for LeBron throughout his career.
01:01:56 That matchup doesn't get nearly enough respect.
01:01:57 It's bad.
01:01:58 You just all being such a headline.
01:01:59 Now you got me fired up.
01:02:01 That's facts.
01:02:02 People disrespect Paul Pierce all the time and actually he wasn't the greatest rival
01:02:05 that that guy ever had.
01:02:07 Like an individual like back and forth rival, they had beef like the Celtics teams when
01:02:11 he was on the Cavs, went back and forth with him, went to Miami to compete with Pierce
01:02:15 and Garnett and Allen to make it more competitive team.
01:02:18 Yes, that's facts.
01:02:20 LeBron has come out and said that Pierce is his best rival.
01:02:23 OK, if you want to if you want to go like purely the rivalry like the Curry Warriors.
01:02:29 Yes.
01:02:30 Yes.
01:02:31 OK.
01:02:32 Yeah.
01:02:33 Cool.
01:02:34 Just making sure.
01:02:35 I think that's all I got, though.
01:02:36 Nothing else.
01:02:37 I think that's all I got.
01:02:38 Yeah.
01:02:39 Good one.
01:02:40 There was another one on here.
01:02:41 I don't think I'm going to end up using it, but when I made the sheet this morning, it
01:02:42 was the one I was going to go with.
01:02:44 Biggest broke the code moment in NBA history.
01:02:46 I'll just go through some of the top replies.
01:02:48 I'm sure it's going to be a better one by the time we do another talk.
01:02:51 Someone said reminder that KG was out there trying to nibble on motherfuckers.
01:02:55 Does that mean?
01:02:58 Brian Coangelo wearing collars that are way too big.
01:03:02 Broke the dress code.
01:03:03 Nobody said Reggie Reggie Evans grabbing testicles.
01:03:08 I haven't interesting.
01:03:09 I'm not going to don't Carlos Boozer spray painting his hair on.
01:03:13 Oh, I forgot about that.
01:03:15 I saw that today.
01:03:17 That's one of the top ones.
01:03:19 No one said Wade pulling Rondo's arm out of his socket.
01:03:22 I mean, are pulling him down and dislocating his elbow.
01:03:24 You can also see the Olympic pulling.
01:03:26 Love.
01:03:27 Yeah.
01:03:28 Yep.
01:03:29 I saw another hair one, Kieran Butler for like one episode of ESPN had hair and then
01:03:33 he never had hair again because he got bullied.
01:03:36 Carmelo calling Jeremy Lin's contract ridiculous.
01:03:40 Elton Brand bailing on Baron Davis after convincing him to sign for the Clippers.
01:03:45 That's brutal.
01:03:46 Oh, I say that one again.
01:03:48 Say it again.
01:03:49 I was not aware of this before I read this comment, but it makes sense.
01:03:52 Like Elton Brand recruited Baron Davis to go play for the Clippers and then dipped and
01:03:57 went and played for Philly.
01:03:59 It's funny.
01:04:00 God is that funny?
01:04:01 Yeah, we don't have to spend too much time on that, but there's going to be I like the
01:04:06 Reddit post.
01:04:07 I think it's good.
01:04:08 I enjoy the last one on the nothing.
01:04:11 Also, let us know.
01:04:13 Yeah, let us know.
01:04:14 And the other one.
01:04:15 Yeah, yeah.
01:04:16 The last one I saw on the no back down was Steve Nash is better than Steph Curry.
01:04:20 And I was like, I don't know what that one.
01:04:22 Also Steph Curry, one of the podcasts that if he could give out rings to anybody, he'd
01:04:25 give them to Steve Nash and Reggie Miller.
01:04:27 That's the other thing I remember off the dump.
01:04:29 But all right, let's get into the rat list here.
01:04:31 Snub Chuck.
01:04:32 Yeah.
01:04:33 You know, he specifically said I would not choose Chuck.
01:04:36 Actually, he said I would not give one to Chuck.
01:04:39 And OK, let's do let's do ratless.
01:04:42 And you want to kick us off here?
01:04:43 We got a heater.
01:04:44 Yes, I have major beef.
01:04:46 You want me to fix the background?
01:04:47 I'll put it on.
01:04:48 You talk.
01:04:49 I'll put that there out on the screen.
01:04:50 I got it.
01:04:52 Major beef.
01:04:54 This is the state of Rhode Island.
01:04:56 This is this has been an ongoing thing for this construction.
01:04:59 No, no, no.
01:05:00 Oh, this has been an ongoing thing for the last like almost two months now.
01:05:04 So I've had this driving saga.
01:05:06 It has finally come to a clean, clean conclusion.
01:05:11 But it is not come to a conclusion without hardship.
01:05:16 I thought I may lose my license for a month.
01:05:19 Didn't only had to pay a fine.
01:05:21 Plus, the three people ahead of me in court did everything they could to try and make
01:05:25 the judge angry.
01:05:28 So I go through court, pay my fine.
01:05:30 Now when you leave court.
01:05:32 The guys like, hey, you can't pay today.
01:05:34 We have to process all of this.
01:05:36 And you pay online tomorrow.
01:05:38 Fine, I pay.
01:05:40 It's all taken care of.
01:05:42 I come home on Sunday.
01:05:46 To receive a letter that was received by us on Saturday that says, notice of license
01:05:52 suspension reason not appearing in court slash paying fine active September 25.
01:06:00 So I go to call the state offices for the DMV on Monday.
01:06:09 Monday, Rhode Island celebrates as the only state in the nation victory over Japan Day.
01:06:15 So it's a state holiday.
01:06:17 These people are not working.
01:06:19 I didn't realize this until like 10 calls to the DMV.
01:06:24 And then I was like, oh, yeah, okay, everybody's off today.
01:06:27 So I called him yesterday.
01:06:29 And I'm like, hey, I paid I showed up in court.
01:06:33 Why did I receive this notice?
01:06:35 And they're like, oh, no, you're good.
01:06:37 Everybody that appears in court gets one of these.
01:06:40 And I was like, what?
01:06:42 I was like, so you must get calls like this all the time.
01:06:44 They were like, yeah.
01:06:45 I was like, why do you send out notices that people's licenses are going to get suspended?
01:06:50 Did you ask them this?
01:06:51 Yes.
01:06:52 And they were like, well, it's just kind of a reminder, like it's meant to be a reminder.
01:06:56 It's like then say reminder, pay your fine or you will get your license suspended.
01:06:59 Don't say, hey, your license is suspended because you didn't pay a fine when you did.
01:07:05 I was anxious like three days over that.
01:07:06 I was going to write a list the last time, but I wasn't sure.
01:07:09 I didn't want to say.
01:07:10 They were like, no, you're good.
01:07:12 I was like, you check.
01:07:13 They like check.
01:07:14 Case closed.
01:07:15 That's so don't.
01:07:18 And they automatically get sent out.
01:07:19 So why would you send that out the day of like they don't even give you a chance to
01:07:24 pay.
01:07:25 It's automatically sent.
01:07:26 Like there should be like a five day grace period where you don't get like mentally bullied
01:07:31 by the state.
01:07:32 Yeah.
01:07:33 Like the state doesn't like put you a gunpoint and be like, hey, I know you paid, but just
01:07:38 just remind your pet.
01:07:39 Terrible.
01:07:40 Yeah.
01:07:41 Yeah.
01:07:42 That's that's horrendous.
01:07:43 That's that's that's.
01:07:44 I like went into shock for 90 seconds on Sunday because I thought like they went to the monitor
01:07:49 and like doubled back on the decision to just find me.
01:07:52 I was just texting and driving, but like I'm an anxious person.
01:07:55 So things build up.
01:07:56 No, no, no.
01:07:57 I didn't do anything.
01:07:58 If you didn't hear the last part, I agree.
01:08:01 I'm going to rat list moving my sister, Grace, into school.
01:08:04 She is an RA activity.
01:08:06 So she moved in early, right?
01:08:08 Yes.
01:08:09 Now I'm going to write a list of manual college on name drop.
01:08:11 Don't care if you go to a manual, your school sucks.
01:08:15 We get there right.
01:08:17 First off, left at nine thirty traffic getting the Boston bad.
01:08:21 Not fun.
01:08:22 You know, there's a whole day, whole day around.
01:08:23 So I'm going to start from the top.
01:08:25 Get in the car.
01:08:26 Already not looking forward to it because we leave in like 30 minutes late because my
01:08:30 mom gets a phone call that she has to talk like answer.
01:08:32 So my sister and they're just waiting by the door.
01:08:33 Right.
01:08:34 Rat list having to wait 30 minutes, get out the door.
01:08:38 Extended the day was not happy.
01:08:39 And I already woke up early and I didn't sleep well last night.
01:08:41 Get on the road two minutes and I call my mom like, hey, just let you because I don't
01:08:46 know like the route.
01:08:47 Perfect.
01:08:48 I'm an anxious driver.
01:08:49 I have road rage.
01:08:50 I don't like driving in the city.
01:08:51 I take the T to avoid it.
01:08:52 We talked about this two minutes in the drive.
01:08:54 Call my mom.
01:08:55 We're going here.
01:08:56 Right.
01:08:57 She goes, yeah, just follow me.
01:08:58 I'm like, OK, fine, that works.
01:08:59 Look down, don't have gas, have to stop the gas station.
01:09:02 Pissed.
01:09:03 Whatever.
01:09:04 Best little reroute.
01:09:05 Get to the gas station.
01:09:07 Can I tell you that every FedEx truck in the county of Bristol County decided to be at
01:09:12 that one exact gas station at that time?
01:09:14 There were literally five FedEx trucks in the gas station parking lot, along with two
01:09:17 gas tankers.
01:09:18 I wonder if that's a diesel fuel thing, because I was driving this weekend and I passed a
01:09:23 gas station and the diesel price was all zeros.
01:09:26 So they were definitely out of diesel.
01:09:28 So I wonder if that was like the gas station that had it like that's the only one with
01:09:33 diesel like they have a 24 hour.
01:09:35 It was a 24 hour cumbies, so they probably got some diesel.
01:09:39 But I was mad.
01:09:40 Got in the parking lot, just amazed getting around these people.
01:09:43 And then the trucks are so big that my mom and I are trying to go out the exit and another
01:09:46 car was coming and they had to reach on the brakes and let us go because they weren't
01:09:49 fucking paying attention either.
01:09:51 Surround us that get on the highway.
01:09:52 It's fine.
01:09:53 Traffic inbound was annoying because I was trying to follow my mom and cars kept cutting
01:09:55 in between us.
01:09:56 So I was getting frustrated.
01:09:58 Whatever.
01:09:59 Finally, get there.
01:10:01 We go past these cones to get to a certain area.
01:10:04 The campus police comes up and say just like he was very nice.
01:10:07 He was like, you're supposed to be here.
01:10:08 Right.
01:10:09 I'm like, yeah, we're allowed to be here.
01:10:10 We're just moving stuff in.
01:10:11 So I was I was already irritated.
01:10:14 Right.
01:10:15 You know how when you move into school, I know you were a commuter, but you move into
01:10:18 school, they have these like these bins for you to wheel around.
01:10:21 Right.
01:10:22 You can wheel your stuff.
01:10:23 They have.
01:10:24 I don't know, but I would imagine that.
01:10:25 Yeah.
01:10:26 Yeah.
01:10:27 They have these big bins they can wheel.
01:10:28 Yeah.
01:10:29 Not for our A's.
01:10:30 That's for when the students move in.
01:10:31 So we got no bins.
01:10:32 There was nothing.
01:10:33 There was nothing to help.
01:10:34 So I think that's a little more respect.
01:10:36 You think so?
01:10:37 I'm pretty sure they do get like free housing.
01:10:38 Is that true?
01:10:39 It's a percentage.
01:10:40 And then the second year, they get free housing.
01:10:41 But no, no, no.
01:10:42 Yeah.
01:10:43 Yeah.
01:10:44 True thing.
01:10:45 No.
01:10:46 Yeah.
01:10:47 That's standard.
01:10:48 Or it's very cheap the first year and then 100 percent off like every second, third
01:10:51 or fourth year you do it.
01:10:52 She's going to do it for this year and then next year because she's getting into her junior
01:10:57 year.
01:10:58 Yeah.
01:10:59 So we get there.
01:11:01 We there's no there's no wheelie stuff.
01:11:03 But my mom brought this dolly, right?
01:11:07 This thing to like wheel stuff in now.
01:11:09 My mom gets very mad when I put her on the rat list, right?
01:11:14 This is like a three three pod streak.
01:11:17 She's on.
01:11:18 She's on a heater.
01:11:19 She's on a heater.
01:11:20 Do you remember gym class when those rollie things you had that you would roll on just
01:11:25 the pads?
01:11:26 That's the thing.
01:11:27 That's what we were like.
01:11:28 Imagine like a wakeboard with wheels.
01:11:31 Effectively that was what we had.
01:11:32 Yes.
01:11:33 And she brought that.
01:11:34 No, no, no.
01:11:35 Yeah.
01:11:36 Boogie board.
01:11:37 Right.
01:11:38 She brought that and bungee cables to tie that to keep the stuff in place as it rolled.
01:11:40 I guess you have to work with what you got.
01:11:43 It was not effective.
01:11:44 It was terrible.
01:11:45 They had a dolly inside, though, right?
01:11:47 Like they had something you could roll.
01:11:48 It was very small, but they had something you could roll inside.
01:11:52 It was basically like a miniature, a miniature version of the things they have at Home Depot.
01:11:57 It's got the excuse me.
01:11:59 It's got the handles.
01:12:00 You push it.
01:12:01 However, no, there's no ramp.
01:12:04 There's no ramp into the building.
01:12:05 It is.
01:12:06 That's not very inclusive.
01:12:09 Not at all.
01:12:10 It's 2023.
01:12:11 They don't have a wheelchair ramp into the building.
01:12:12 No, not in the front.
01:12:14 And we couldn't access the back.
01:12:15 So no.
01:12:16 So we had to carry everything.
01:12:17 Was there a mom was back?
01:12:20 Maybe but we don't have access that.
01:12:22 So I wonder, I wonder if it's a lawsuit.
01:12:24 Emanuel College.
01:12:25 Right.
01:12:26 It's just going to rob them.
01:12:29 You start carrying stuff in.
01:12:30 We get the first set up and then we're like, OK, let's start using the dolly.
01:12:33 My mom was hell bent on using this dolly and we weren't parked directly in front of the
01:12:38 building so we could just carry stuff, get it inside, put it inside.
01:12:41 There was like I'm trying to think like how far was it was like a hundred, 200 foot walk,
01:12:47 which isn't long.
01:12:48 It wasn't like we were walking across the campus, but it was just long enough where
01:12:52 using the dolly is useless, but it's annoying to have to carry it that distance.
01:12:56 Do you know what I'm saying?
01:12:58 Yeah.
01:12:59 Because there was construction on campus and so there was a giant hose running across
01:13:02 the sidewalk.
01:13:03 So you have to lift the dolly over it every time to use the dolly and go across the sidewalks
01:13:08 and a sewer great in between the two sidewalks where they split up.
01:13:11 And so my mom was just starting piling stuff on this dolly and I'm like, mom, this isn't
01:13:15 working.
01:13:16 She's like, I'm going to use it.
01:13:17 And so I just started picking stuff off the dolly and carrying it myself.
01:13:20 She got really mad and put the dolly away.
01:13:22 So we put out, we took a bunch of trips back and forth, back and forth to the car, got
01:13:26 in front of the building, took more trips back and forth, back and forth up these three
01:13:30 miniature flights of stairs.
01:13:31 There were like full flights, but like sets of five stairs or like three sets of five,
01:13:35 four sets of five stairs getting into the place we needed to be.
01:13:39 And then we got it all there that we put it all in a dolly, brought it all the way to
01:13:43 the elevator, left it in front of the elevator, took trips up the elevator, got it up to the
01:13:47 fourth floor, fourth floor, got all around the corner, got in front of room.
01:13:52 So that took forever.
01:13:53 That was annoying.
01:13:54 It took an hour, maybe an hour and a half just to get all that stuff up and sounds like
01:13:58 you got exercise clearly.
01:13:59 Yeah.
01:14:00 Yeah.
01:14:01 Annoying.
01:14:02 It was like a piece of cake.
01:14:04 I will be.
01:14:05 I have some leftover Mexican food in the fridge.
01:14:07 I'm going to be eating later.
01:14:08 I case it.
01:14:09 The mind you, I just want I want everybody to understand right now.
01:14:16 We have written out what our rat list will be on our show.
01:14:18 I'm not done.
01:14:19 See, Jack is two bullet points out of five into the store.
01:14:23 I'm not done.
01:14:25 No AC in the building.
01:14:27 Zero.
01:14:28 I is maybe 80 degrees in this building.
01:14:31 Eighty five.
01:14:32 And I'm lugging stuff back and forth all around, bringing a bunch of shit.
01:14:36 That was terrible.
01:14:37 Luckily, Grace has this like industrial sized fan she put in a room.
01:14:40 So like the room was OK after a little while.
01:14:43 Yes.
01:14:44 But it was it was truly like truly horrible.
01:14:48 It was horrendous.
01:14:50 No, it was cooler outside than in the US.
01:14:53 It was terrible.
01:14:56 And then.
01:14:58 My sister brought way too much shit, ratless, grace, just obscenely way too much stuff.
01:15:02 I'm sorry, I don't care.
01:15:05 We filled two full cars with the seats down in the back.
01:15:08 Useless.
01:15:09 So pissed.
01:15:10 Right.
01:15:11 So excuse me.
01:15:12 Sorry.
01:15:13 Right.
01:15:14 Let's go for that story.
01:15:15 One of the things she brought was a mirror.
01:15:18 And you asked, oh, yeah, of course you bring a mirror or whatever.
01:15:21 First of all, we get there.
01:15:23 Grace brought two mirrors.
01:15:24 I look at my mom.
01:15:25 I said, Mom, I will bet you twenty dollars there is a fucking mirror in the room.
01:15:29 We get there.
01:15:30 There's a mirror bolted to the back of her closet door.
01:15:32 In the room.
01:15:33 No, there was a mirror.
01:15:35 The mirror she brought one was like a wall mirror.
01:15:37 It's a big circle.
01:15:38 It's fine.
01:15:39 Whatever.
01:15:40 It's useless.
01:15:41 The other one was a five foot tall mirror.
01:15:44 That weighed like that weighed like 20 to 30 pounds.
01:15:49 For what?
01:15:50 Why do we put a mirror in a dorm room?
01:15:54 What are we doing?
01:15:56 Like like it'd be one thing, right?
01:15:59 There's nothing to prop this up on.
01:16:01 If you want to look in the mirror, I'm going to be standing up on YouTube.
01:16:03 You have to you have to be like bending down to use the mirror unless you're four foot
01:16:08 tall.
01:16:09 How tall is your sister?
01:16:11 Like five, six.
01:16:12 So she's going to be like bending down.
01:16:14 And guess what?
01:16:15 The mirror is five feet.
01:16:16 It is.
01:16:18 But it's on the floor.
01:16:19 It's on the ground.
01:16:20 It's not a lancet.
01:16:21 Like if she leans it against the wall, you can use it.
01:16:24 I don't care.
01:16:25 I don't care.
01:16:26 It's stupid.
01:16:27 It's literally it's just now listen, I understand there is a mirror in the room.
01:16:30 So all of these points are valid.
01:16:31 Like two mirrors already had a mirror top and the mirror that's on the closet door is
01:16:36 literally elevated so she can just stand in front of it.
01:16:41 The mirror that we brought is just standing in the corner and she's making a fun house.
01:16:44 The reason I was I was so mad I was so mad at the mirror is because it was like one of
01:16:51 those things that you can't carry anything else.
01:16:53 I was mad at the mirror.
01:16:56 You're carrying this five foot tall, 30 pound mirror upstairs.
01:16:58 I can't have something in my other hand.
01:17:00 Right.
01:17:01 This was a one trip item.
01:17:02 Yeah.
01:17:03 One trip items are the worst.
01:17:04 No, I can.
01:17:05 I carried it myself.
01:17:06 But like I could.
01:17:07 That was my one trip.
01:17:08 I was a one tripper.
01:17:09 Right.
01:17:10 So there's that.
01:17:11 The worst thing I carried all day.
01:17:12 And this is another rat list.
01:17:13 Cases of water bottles might be my least favorite thing to carry.
01:17:16 They're not heavy.
01:17:17 Those are tough.
01:17:18 They're not heavy.
01:17:19 They're just awkward.
01:17:20 They're just heavy enough where it's annoying, but they're not like they're not the right
01:17:25 like size where you can like profit up somewhere.
01:17:26 You just have to kind of hold it awkwardly and carry.
01:17:28 They usually have like like where there's openings on the side where you can grab them
01:17:33 though.
01:17:34 Yeah.
01:17:35 But when I'm piling other stuff on top of it to make one trip, that stuff starts to rip.
01:17:37 So I've got to carry it underneath and walk like an idiot.
01:17:39 That's something.
01:17:40 What else do I got?
01:17:42 Angry cabinet.
01:17:44 Oh, great.
01:17:45 This this this was where I got mad.
01:17:47 This was this was like the anger peak of the day.
01:17:49 Now, did you act out?
01:17:51 What do you mean?
01:17:52 Like, did you let everybody know you were angry?
01:17:54 OK, absolutely.
01:17:55 Yeah, yeah.
01:17:56 No, I broke this cabinet almost like I broke this cabinet.
01:18:00 OK, it's still functional, but it's a little broken.
01:18:03 So Grace bought this cabinet for her room, right?
01:18:07 Because she lives in a fucking penthouse.
01:18:09 Apparently, she bought this.
01:18:11 It's just like I don't want to describe it.
01:18:13 I bet I can find it.
01:18:14 Let me see that runs in the family.
01:18:15 You shopping for the penthouses and then I was our a dorm is a penthouse.
01:18:20 I was so yeah.
01:18:21 Right.
01:18:22 I forgot that I was so mad.
01:18:23 I don't even like know if I could find an image to like explain what this is.
01:18:29 So Grace brought her own cabinet to college.
01:18:32 Yes, but she brought it in the box.
01:18:34 It was not built.
01:18:36 It was not built.
01:18:37 So so who had to build it when we got there?
01:18:39 You did me.
01:18:40 I had to build it.
01:18:41 And it wasn't one of these things where you pull out of the box.
01:18:43 They have those stupid little wrenches.
01:18:44 No, I needed a screwdriver and a hammer to get this done.
01:18:48 So they did not provide you with the tools to.
01:18:50 No, do the job.
01:18:51 No.
01:18:52 And I was hoping I'd be like, oh, you need this.
01:18:53 And Grace would be like, oh, yeah, damn, we'll build another time.
01:18:55 She goes, no, I brought that stuff.
01:18:57 I'm like, all right, great.
01:18:58 I'm really glad you brought it sitting on the ground.
01:19:01 But the way the construction worked was the first like five portions were just you put
01:19:06 these little pegs and you connected them together.
01:19:08 And then at the end you would nail everything in a big leg together.
01:19:12 Yes.
01:19:13 But the issue with that was the pieces kept fucking falling off when you tried to move
01:19:17 it anywhere.
01:19:18 Were you so I know because you can tell.
01:19:20 Oh, they're just pegs.
01:19:21 No, that's the thing.
01:19:23 You can't take it apart, though, because I did nail it in and screw it in at the end.
01:19:26 So we nail them.
01:19:27 OK, so but that part only happens at the end when you box it all in.
01:19:31 So at the start, when it was just the shell, it was just like the middle shelf and the
01:19:35 in the the sides.
01:19:37 It was just like loosely fitted together.
01:19:39 And so whenever I tried to move it or adjust it, it would fall, it would fall, it would
01:19:42 fall.
01:19:43 They'd get in the way.
01:19:44 And at one point I just smacked it and it like chipped open a little bit somewhere.
01:19:47 So she got some chips in it that I was mad.
01:19:49 And then it took me like an hour and a half to build this one cabinet.
01:19:54 And I was so mad.
01:19:56 And at one point, like, I don't know if there was like, you know, the styrofoam packing
01:20:00 stuff, it like got near me and I threw it away.
01:20:03 But it like floated in the air and fell on me.
01:20:05 And I threw it away again.
01:20:06 It floated in the air and fell on me.
01:20:08 I just started snapping it in half and I threw the quarter.
01:20:11 This sounds like it was like you're like it was Oppenheimer.
01:20:15 This was my.
01:20:16 Yeah, yeah.
01:20:17 This was your I was going to say it, but I didn't know if you want me to say it.
01:20:19 No, I say this was your atomic bomb.
01:20:22 I say it too often.
01:20:25 That was all.
01:20:26 That's what that's what Monday's holiday was celebrating, by the way, that that I couldn't
01:20:30 call the DMV.
01:20:32 That was terrible.
01:20:33 And building furniture is a rat list as well.
01:20:35 It's truly horrendous.
01:20:37 So that made me mad.
01:20:38 Good rat.
01:20:39 We got tasty burger at the end, so I was happy eventually.
01:20:43 But and also getting to hammer in the nails on like it was just like the backing things
01:20:47 you said.
01:20:48 You're cathartic.
01:20:49 Yes, I was sitting there smiling.
01:20:51 Nobody's getting those nails out.
01:20:53 No, no, no.
01:20:54 How did you hold up in all of this, by the way?
01:20:57 It's fine.
01:20:58 My ankle hasn't been as badly.
01:20:59 It's definitely still very swollen, but I think up and down the stairs.
01:21:02 Yeah, no, I was good.
01:21:03 I got my Crocs on.
01:21:05 We were good.
01:21:06 All right.
01:21:07 You just have four rat lists, by the way, today.
01:21:08 We got plenty of room for it.
01:21:09 This is 10 minutes in and we have done a quarter of it.
01:21:12 Yes, we're going your turn.
01:21:15 I'll throw it to you.
01:21:16 A rat list, Emanuel College rat list.
01:21:18 People who drive cars that either used to be police cars or they look like this.
01:21:23 These cars.
01:21:24 This is a great rat list.
01:21:25 If you are like driving one of those cars, you are the worst person ever.
01:21:31 They should not even sell cars that are the same model as police cars.
01:21:36 That even look like it.
01:21:37 I don't care if it's not the same brand, if it looks anywhere like it.
01:21:40 Well, and not to cut you off.
01:21:41 If you've got the bumper thing on the front, you're the worst.
01:21:43 I had somebody, I was driving through a neighborhood this morning that was riding my ass in one
01:21:48 of these cars.
01:21:49 Horrible.
01:21:50 And it was a morning where it wasn't extremely warm out.
01:21:54 It was misty.
01:21:55 So I couldn't see super duper clear out my back mirror or back window.
01:21:59 Right?
01:22:00 Yeah, yeah.
01:22:01 And I'm like, I'm in a black Ford SUV with the bumper on it behind me.
01:22:05 And I'm like, all right, well, I can't speed.
01:22:08 I just talked about being afraid of losing my license for like five.
01:22:11 Of course.
01:22:12 Of course.
01:22:13 Right.
01:22:14 So now I'm like angel driving.
01:22:15 Like I'm like, okay, I'm stopping at the stop signs is everyone knows I'm not a fan of.
01:22:19 And I have this guy riding my ass in the neighborhood.
01:22:21 I'm like, what is going on here?
01:22:23 So if you are driving one of those cars, you are the absolute worst.
01:22:26 You didn't go to ball this weekend, Jack, but on the way to two 95 from the gym, there
01:22:33 was somebody's car clearly used to be a police car, had the blue stripe on the side of the
01:22:37 bumper on the front.
01:22:39 It was like it was a sedan version parked right next to the road.
01:22:44 Nobody in the car.
01:22:45 I had somebody that was driving, say, Hey, there's a police car.
01:22:48 Watch out.
01:22:49 I was like, no, I saw on the way there.
01:22:50 It's just somebody's car.
01:22:51 Yeah, it's awful.
01:22:52 First of all, how are people buying police cars recent?
01:22:56 Yeah, I don't get it.
01:22:58 Is there like a Craigslist or Facebook marketplace where cops are just like, yeah, all right,
01:23:02 like this one, the police department's like, we need some extra money that the tax taxpayer
01:23:07 dollars are not enough.
01:23:10 I ran into something like this today because I told you I was following my mom to the school
01:23:15 and I may or may not have run a red light in Boston because I was trying to follow her.
01:23:20 Right.
01:23:21 And as soon as I get through the very that should be allowed, by the way.
01:23:24 Yeah.
01:23:25 Like if you get pulled over for running a red light, just be like, I was following that
01:23:27 guy.
01:23:28 Yeah.
01:23:29 And as soon as I got through that, definitely still yellow light.
01:23:33 I see this car turned down.
01:23:34 It was a Chevy, but it was like it looked it looked the model.
01:23:37 I was like, please, God, don't ruin this morning for me.
01:23:40 And then they turned eventually.
01:23:41 But I was like, fuck you for even speaking of like that.
01:23:45 The mother that got me for texting was undercover.
01:23:48 Oh, it was not a Ford police car.
01:23:51 Yeah.
01:23:52 Yeah.
01:23:53 Right here.
01:23:54 Like all the cop cars are Ford's.
01:23:55 It was undercover and they got me.
01:23:58 Ratless.
01:23:59 That's horrible.
01:24:00 Hopefully this is the last time I have to talk.
01:24:01 I have to talk about that saga.
01:24:03 What a mess that was.
01:24:05 But yes, that's all.
01:24:06 If you're if you're driving a car that looks very similar to police car, ratless that's
01:24:10 awful.
01:24:11 Speaking of cars, I was driving home today.
01:24:16 Right.
01:24:17 I was driving home.
01:24:18 I was driving separate cars.
01:24:19 I know relatively how to get home, but I happen to be behind my mom at this point.
01:24:23 And so.
01:24:25 When you are on the highway, right, and there's you're in the far right lane because our exit
01:24:29 was coming up.
01:24:31 You're supposed to take turns, right?
01:24:32 One car goes, then the car comes on the on ramp.
01:24:34 Another car goes.
01:24:35 Yes, we were not in traffic.
01:24:37 We were fully like driving like we were fine.
01:24:39 And so one car went up and cut my mom off and got in front of her.
01:24:43 And I see another car coming back.
01:24:44 And I'm like, all right, there is about 10 cars lengths behind me.
01:24:48 There's an obscene amount of room behind me.
01:24:50 And I don't think he's like he has to yield because if you're on the off ramp, you yield.
01:24:54 That is how it works.
01:24:55 And so I'm like, let me speed up.
01:24:56 I'll get behind my mom close so he can just go behind me.
01:24:58 Right.
01:24:59 Right.
01:25:00 Because I'm thinking, OK, he's not even fully down yet.
01:25:01 I'm not going to cut him off.
01:25:02 I'm just going to like, let me speed up.
01:25:04 Let him go behind me.
01:25:06 This fucking asshole speeds up, rides next to me in the breakdown lane to the point where
01:25:14 I'm just like, let me just slow down a little bit and let you fucking go around me.
01:25:18 He speeds around me in front of me.
01:25:19 I flip him off.
01:25:21 Right.
01:25:22 As you do.
01:25:23 He stops, gets back in the breakdown lane, opens up his window and goes, come here.
01:25:30 And so I drive by him and I wave and I say bye.
01:25:32 So when I just passed him like what?
01:25:36 What the fuck are you doing?
01:25:38 It was like one of those moments.
01:25:39 He definitely thought he was like this big alpha tough guy, but he definitely just got
01:25:42 a tiny fucking penis and he's compensating for something.
01:25:45 It pissed me off.
01:25:46 So it made me so deeply angry.
01:25:50 Like like you had fucking ten cars behind me and you just had.
01:25:56 And granted, there wasn't a lot of space in between me and my mom.
01:25:59 There was maybe like a car to half gap there.
01:26:01 So he would like if he had gone in front of me, I would have had to put on the brakes
01:26:04 to let him go.
01:26:06 Or he could have just fucking gone behind me like a normal human being that has a fucking
01:26:10 brain and just go on with his day.
01:26:13 But he had to be a dick.
01:26:15 He's like stared me down as he was like riding towards the breakdown lane at the end of the
01:26:19 merge lane.
01:26:21 And like like he goes, what are you doing?
01:26:23 I'm like, dude, there's like I can barely even see the car behind me and you're making
01:26:28 a big deal of this.
01:26:29 So I flip him off and he comes and he goes, what?
01:26:30 And I just stared at stare him down and like wave and say, like, yeah, fuck you.
01:26:33 See you later, buddy.
01:26:34 And I kept driving.
01:26:35 Have I done the procedure?
01:26:36 I wish I could drive a tank thing on here.
01:26:39 Yes, you have.
01:26:40 And in that moment, that's right.
01:26:42 Like if I had a tank, see you, buddy.
01:26:44 Enjoy the guardrail.
01:26:47 I was safely unbelievably angry.
01:26:50 I was borderline not safely in this case.
01:26:53 I was so mad he had to go.
01:26:56 Oh, that was that was awesome.
01:26:58 He's a piece of shit.
01:26:59 He goes beyond the route list.
01:27:00 He deserves like, oh, prison.
01:27:03 Go get like prison.
01:27:05 That's the prison list.
01:27:06 That is that is one of those.
01:27:08 If you break this unwritten rule, go to jail.
01:27:10 You're an asshole.
01:27:11 See you later.
01:27:13 That's prison time.
01:27:14 That's a fine.
01:27:15 That's show up in court.
01:27:16 Get the message from Rhode Island.
01:27:18 I was I was so mad because this was after all the moving in stuff that I was like angry
01:27:22 at and then more driving stuff on the way home.
01:27:25 My mom and I get stuck behind people who just decide to go like 30 miles an hour in a 40.
01:27:30 So we're just driving there angry from all day is terrible.
01:27:33 It was awful.
01:27:34 It was.
01:27:35 Sorry.
01:27:36 I'll continue.
01:27:37 All right.
01:27:38 So this is a good one.
01:27:39 I've been waiting all day for that, by the way.
01:27:40 I've been waiting for.
01:27:41 I can tell like this is this is the best ratless we've ever done.
01:27:44 Maybe it might even be title material like greatest ratless of all time.
01:27:48 Like Chris stops injury news.
01:27:51 Greatest ratless of all time.
01:27:52 It's just up there.
01:27:54 I will say.
01:27:57 Ratless the white trash Avengers that hang out by the basketball court near my house.
01:28:01 I saw this on the sheet.
01:28:04 Yeah.
01:28:05 So Jack has been to this.
01:28:07 He came and he played at the basketball court with me and a couple of friends before.
01:28:11 So he's been to this area now.
01:28:13 They were the white trash Avengers were not there.
01:28:17 This is a new bunch.
01:28:18 This is a new thing that's started to happen at the OB basketball court.
01:28:23 Me and the boys would go play there sometimes.
01:28:24 Yesterday I just went by myself because nobody want to play and I wanted to shoot around
01:28:27 have a little bit of fun after work.
01:28:30 So I pull in the lot.
01:28:32 And this is like the like the bunch that's like really into cars like they drive like
01:28:38 old cars but they trick them out like they have super cool engines and all that stuff
01:28:43 like they had their hoods open.
01:28:45 We called them the kids in high school.
01:28:47 Yeah.
01:28:48 Like they're all hanging out by the court which is fine like hang out like do whatever
01:28:50 you want.
01:28:52 This also stems back to a couple of weeks ago I was there.
01:28:54 We were all playing like a good amount of us.
01:28:57 And do they just kept like multiplying like every time like we went up and down the court
01:29:02 we looked over and there was more of them and they're all like slamming back booze
01:29:06 in the parking lot and the best like the ringleader is this like 10 year old kid and he's like
01:29:13 out there just like smoke weed.
01:29:15 He doesn't care.
01:29:17 He can't be old enough to like be in middle school yet but he's out there running around
01:29:21 like he's always there.
01:29:23 I swear to God these people like they're just always there that the basketball court has
01:29:27 become the new hangout just to like just like go be hoodlums.
01:29:31 Like I sound like an old man but it's less about that.
01:29:34 It's just like dude like why are all these white trash like people around here.
01:29:39 The hoodlum word was the peak.
01:29:41 Yeah.
01:29:42 No no no.
01:29:43 This is Sam yells at cloud but it's a weird thing.
01:29:46 It's like not kids being kids.
01:29:47 It's just like like this does not need to be happening.
01:29:50 Like go do this somewhere else.
01:29:53 That's good.
01:29:54 Why is no one like I was like almost like I almost have like a call the cops moment
01:29:58 but like I was around like I was like looking over my shoulder like see if they were like
01:30:02 trying to go gonna go in my car.
01:30:04 Sam turns Karen and goes I'm not Karen but like I mean my man Timmy's just running around
01:30:11 like ripping cigs like a little Timmy like he's 25.
01:30:17 Well Timmy global to the rat list the white trash of course of course we got to run it
01:30:22 back a moment.
01:30:23 Trucks on highways.
01:30:26 I cannot express to you enough.
01:30:28 Trucks should not be allowed on highways.
01:30:30 Banish I think there should be a designated roadway truck highway.
01:30:34 That's what I was going to say.
01:30:36 There should be a truck highway because it is one thing when there's a truck in the right
01:30:40 lane and you can pass them.
01:30:42 It is another thing when there's a truck in the left three lanes and you can't really
01:30:45 do shit.
01:30:46 It's another one.
01:30:47 It's both lanes and it's another when there's a fucking asshole in a gray Honda going less
01:30:53 than the speed limit in the third lane over and then there's a truck in the next lane
01:30:58 over you just you're just fucking stuck because people are passing you on the left passing
01:31:03 you passing you passing you because you can't do shit.
01:31:05 You can't go back into the far right lane because the trucks right here go in the exact
01:31:08 speed which he's not doing anything wrong.
01:31:10 He's just a truck which fuck you and then there's somebody going too slow.
01:31:14 So I'm stuck here going 60 miles an hour with a truck going 65 right next to me so I can't
01:31:19 do shit for maybe like five to 10 miles.
01:31:22 There's nothing worse than infuriating.
01:31:25 It was painful and the best part is I'm just fucking fearing for my life because that truck
01:31:29 tips over.
01:31:30 I'm dead like straight up.
01:31:31 I'm fucking gone.
01:31:32 I got no chance like I've got a route for I've got an okay car.
01:31:36 This fucking Shaw's truck that's driving tankard.
01:31:41 I got there is nothing worse than when they just like wall up like Trump in his prime
01:31:46 on the highway.
01:31:48 It's awful.
01:31:49 I truly don't get it and like you said yeah when there's like a bunch of them like oh
01:31:56 my God last year I was driving home from New York and this truck was like determined to
01:32:01 go faster than me so he kept going into far left lane to pass me and I was going like
01:32:05 75 so this giant 18 wheelers going like 85 to pass me and then going 70 in front of me
01:32:12 so I'm like passing him like all right well I'll just go past you I assume like you're
01:32:15 just found a comfortable speed leapfrog.
01:32:17 He kept passing me and then he kept like I don't know if he was purposely trying to run
01:32:21 me off the road but he kept like encroaching on my line trucks need to be banished.
01:32:25 I don't care if I can invent teleportation invent something so they don't have to fucking
01:32:29 exist anymore.
01:32:30 I'm over it.
01:32:31 They've got to go ban them or or find somebody better.
01:32:36 UPS drivers make 170 K let them do fucking everything.
01:32:40 You see that today UPS drivers got a new bump in salary because their union which good for
01:32:44 them I mean shit I wouldn't want to drive a UPS truck ready to go work at UPS buddy
01:32:48 but man trucks on highways not allowed it just get it out.
01:32:53 But here's the thing the alternative to that is them on like regular roads that don't have
01:32:57 multiple lanes also true also terrible banished trucks I don't care just 18 wheelers gotta
01:33:02 go.
01:33:03 I just don't like that I can't see around them.
01:33:05 I don't like yes I don't like I don't know what's going on around me.
01:33:08 Agreed they've got to go.
01:33:09 I don't care.
01:33:12 Next one kind of full circle here.
01:33:14 The New England Baptist Hospital injury report.
01:33:18 It's something that I would like to never see again.
01:33:20 I kind of love how much I hated it.
01:33:22 I love that you dropped the hospital full name or go not even I can't be like any B.H.
01:33:27 because nobody knows what it means.
01:33:29 You know what I know what it means.
01:33:30 I've seen it too many fucking times.
01:33:33 That's why I would prefer not to see that in mid August.
01:33:36 Really hate it.
01:33:39 That's flashbacks.
01:33:40 It's a tweet of all time.
01:33:42 New England Baptist injury report.
01:33:44 Terrible.
01:33:45 They really picked a terrible thing to sponsor.
01:33:48 I would say ratless the hospital but they probably do like help people.
01:33:51 So I would assume people.
01:33:53 But I tell you now if I'm in my day many a time if I'm in an ambulance bleeding out and
01:33:58 they say hey you can go here or here.
01:34:00 Not going.
01:34:01 Yeah.
01:34:02 Actually yes.
01:34:03 Spite won't use the hospital.
01:34:04 They can say it's a 10 minute journey.
01:34:07 You could reach.
01:34:08 Yeah.
01:34:09 Good point.
01:34:10 Oh my God.
01:34:11 What a ratless.
01:34:12 You know what.
01:34:13 Power rankings of hospital hospital that rules Hasbro.
01:34:17 You know why they make toys.
01:34:19 Same people.
01:34:21 That's why.
01:34:22 I didn't even know those a thing.
01:34:26 Yeah.
01:34:27 Oh my God.
01:34:28 Rhode Island.
01:34:29 Shout out Boston Children's because my family lived there as kids.
01:34:32 We just keep getting fucking.
01:34:34 Henry taking naps.
01:34:36 Yes.
01:34:37 But Henry also Henry got hit with a golf club in the face and we got hit with.
01:34:40 Oh that's right.
01:34:41 You got.
01:34:42 Was it you that got hit with a bat too or just him.
01:34:44 Both of us.
01:34:45 We both.
01:34:46 Yeah.
01:34:47 Yeah.
01:34:48 Well actually Henry got hit in the face with a bat.
01:34:49 That's a Simone family tradition like all the boys like have to get hit in the head
01:34:52 with a baseball bat like when Jack Henry eventually have children like they got to go in the backyard
01:34:57 and get whacked.
01:34:58 Well I've told my story.
01:34:59 I was running laps in the field and some dude was taking practice things I hit.
01:35:02 Henry got hit in the face with a bat twice.
01:35:05 Twice.
01:35:06 The first one he was very young and trying to teach.
01:35:09 He's trying to teach Grace how to bunt.
01:35:12 And so he got up real close to like pitching the ball and she didn't.
01:35:16 Oh.
01:35:17 She just she hit him and hit him in the lip and you like split his lip open or something.
01:35:23 This is not like the fun like people just getting like murked that I like.
01:35:27 I don't I don't like this stuff.
01:35:28 Oh.
01:35:29 And then the other time he got hit in the head with the baseball bat it was me.
01:35:35 And I was taking practice and my crime.
01:35:37 I was taking the Mafia on the other side of the driveway.
01:35:42 But I just I actually let go of the bat.
01:35:45 That's really bad luck.
01:35:46 If you get drilled with a flying bat and it it flew across the driveway and hit him right
01:35:52 in the eye.
01:35:53 So he was like is it Floyd Mayweather whose eye was just like this and like a ball.
01:35:58 It was he was like that for like two weeks like in terms of like funny looking injuries
01:36:01 like swollen eyes got it.
01:36:03 It was it was bad.
01:36:05 And he got hit with the face of the golf club too because we had this like putting green
01:36:08 thing in our basement when we were kids and my sister was putting and she got mad and
01:36:12 she swung it around and we took a beating man.
01:36:19 What else.
01:36:20 Other hospital things I was running around when I was three I put I slam my chin on a
01:36:25 cabinet and bit through my tongue.
01:36:29 We were we were hospital kids man.
01:36:30 We they knew us.
01:36:32 They knew us by name.
01:36:33 Shout out Boston Children's.
01:36:34 We can tell those stories that like later on but we are an hour and 40 minutes into
01:36:38 our recording so we will wrap up here.
