00:00 What was your overall performance at the game?
00:20 Yes, I think we started really well. We had a disallowed goal, the goal we scored, another
00:26 good chance but after, obviously they pushed, we had to defend lower. I think we did pretty
00:34 well during the first half because they were putting a lot of pressure and overall I was
00:42 happy with the performance. Probably in this kind of stadiums you need some things, some
00:47 moments to go your way and there were key things that took us far from the point. Especially
00:57 the penalty, we were competing and this penalty was important for them and after when they
01:08 were with 10 just straight away next play I think they scored. We had the chances at
01:13 the end but we were far from the game.
01:16 Were you disappointed that Liverpool went down to 10 men?
01:24 Yes, I think just before we made the subs, we were ready to make the subs, it was a corner,
01:32 second phase of the corner, shoot, I think it touches two or three of our players before
01:37 scoring. There are, as I said before, certain things in this kind of game that have to go
01:43 your way and today it didn't. From there we had the chances, even with the 2-1, we had
01:50 one from Dom, at the end very, very clear, with Justin, with Keefe, with Dom again but
01:59 we couldn't take the points.
02:00 Was that performance closer to what you were looking for than the last half?
02:05 I think it was a completely different game, completely different. The first day we were
02:10 more in control of the ball but we were not fast enough in the building up, we were quite
02:17 slow moving the ball, especially in the first half. Today we were less time on the ball,
02:23 we were more direct, I think we created quite a lot of chances considering we were playing
02:28 in this stadium, different games, good things and bad things from both.
02:33 Was it a surprise to see Antoine Serrini starting but he wouldn't justify that decision?
02:39 Yes, he was really good the other day when he came in, he gave us a lot of energy. The
02:44 20-something minutes he played he has been training well. Today he scored, he finished
02:52 really tired, he finished really tired like a lot of the players did but I think it's
02:58 good news.
02:59 If you speak about him as a number 9, do you think he's better on the wing, does he have
03:02 a better position?
03:04 I think he can play on both wings as a number 9. I think he's physical, he's powerful,
03:13 he's kind of ruthless, we need this effectivity, this desire. He's not probably a winger who
03:24 can play so inside but he's very good winning the duels and I think he performed really
03:31 well today.
03:32 What can you take from this game?
03:36 I think they were good performances, players who faced very tough opponents and they survived
03:43 and they did very good things. Obviously there are other things we need to improve but I
03:51 think during moments of the game we were not so far from taking some points here but there
03:59 were key things that didn't go our way.
04:04 Have you had a chance to look at the Liverpool penalty yet?
04:08 Yes, I've seen it. Just right now we see everything on the bench so we have the chance to see
04:13 it. I think it's a very, very soft penalty. It's contact, it's a penalty that once the
04:22 referee whistles I don't think the VAR is going to call him because obviously even if
04:29 it's very, very light there is contact. But in that moment it was important for us.
04:36 Neto saved the penalty, we were lucky because the ball went to Salah and we saved this one.
04:45 Solanke had a half appeal just before that, do you have a view on that as well?
04:53 I don't know. In both cases I wouldn't call the penalty because it was not clear.
04:58 A penalty has to be something that affects the game, it's clear. If they adapt I think
05:06 it's normally better not to take the difficult decisions.
05:13 Jurgen Klopp described your team as 'organised chaos' in the build-up to that. Do you think
05:24 your team surprised him and how well you scored?
05:27 No, I don't think we surprised them. I think he knew we were going to go high to press
05:34 them and for sure they were ready for this. At the end you try to build up, these kinds
05:41 of mistakes can appear, the defenders, the keepers. It's a risk/reward situation at the
05:50 end. You have to value and there were times also where they built it up really well and
05:56 then they finished the play.
05:59 Barca, Sanessi and Zarbani both looked really comfortable on the ball, it looks like the
06:05 way this team can play is really positive from the back.
06:08 Yes, today was difficult because obviously Liverpool is pressing really high, you don't
06:14 have a lot of time to establish an organised attack. We were quite good when we were attacking
06:21 direct but there were moments probably where we could keep the ball more, make them run
06:27 more without the ball. Especially the next minutes after the red card, I think we wanted
06:38 to do things too quickly and until we realised it was a matter of keeping possession, opening
06:43 the game and waiting for the chances to appear, we weren't really productive.
06:49 For the players who haven't played here before, you mentioned the atmosphere, that's a really
06:55 big learning curve for them as far as going forward for this season?
06:58 Yes, obviously some players, it was the first performance here in Anfield, you feel the
07:05 pressure when they are pushing, when we started winning they had some set-pieces. We knew
07:12 before coming that it was going to be like this and I think the team showed the personality
07:20 but probably we weren't effective enough.
07:23 Early in the game, Alassane was obviously put off to the far right, do you think the
07:30 PAA should have looked at that?
07:31 Sorry, I didn't get you.
07:33 Early in the game, Alassane was put off to the far right, do you think the PAA should
07:39 have looked at that?
07:40 I don't know, I cannot... For me even the red card was more kind of foreign, this situation
07:48 was kind of foreign. They are difficult decisions, I understand the referee, these decisions
07:53 because they were not easy decisions.
07:56 Perfect, cool. Thanks guys.
08:00 Thanks.
