00:00 How would you say we will see Lily focus more on herself
00:04 in this new season?
00:05 And is that something you feel like she's being forced to do?
00:09 Or is she a willing participant in that?
00:12 - I mean, Lily just hit rock bottom for season two.
00:15 You're gonna find out in the first couple of minutes
00:17 of the episode, oh boy, poor girl.
00:21 I feel really bad for her, but hey, you know what?
00:24 I relate to her, all my girlfriends relate to her
00:27 and most women relate to her.
00:29 So that is why I love her, 'cause she's messy
00:31 and she makes mistakes, but genuinely she's seeking
00:34 for what we all seek for, which is love.
00:37 Our dreams, our career, and in a way navigating
00:41 the pressure that society puts on us,
00:44 that our family puts on us.
00:45 So what makes her happy?
00:46 What makes, what stops seeking validation
00:50 from somebody else, but only seek it from ourselves?
00:54 So that's the journey that Lily takes
00:56 and that's the journey that I feel most women
00:58 are constantly struggling with.
01:01 So I'm really happy that she finally prioritizes herself
01:06 and is learning how to be present
01:07 and taking control over her life.
01:10 - Absolutely, and speaking of love, Rome,
01:13 there's a scene in the first episode of this season
01:16 where you and Lily are first coming to the realization
01:19 of your breakup and y'all toast to love being beautiful.
01:23 In what ways do you feel like this sets the tone
01:25 for their relationship throughout this season
01:28 and how would you say this is a huge difference
01:31 from where they were in season one?
01:32 - Yeah, I think we reached a point where we can't,
01:37 we wouldn't be able to go backwards
01:40 after that had been revealed.
01:42 And it changed just the fabric and the, you know,
01:47 the dynamic between these two characters
01:49 because they still long in aspects for each other
01:54 and still trying to navigate how to have your cake
01:57 when you need it to, you know what I mean?
01:58 And so they're trying to figure out
02:01 how these pieces will still fit.
02:03 - Let's just say the audience is gonna see
02:06 a lot of really nice cake from Rome.
02:09 (laughing)
02:11 A real nice cake from Rome.
02:13 - Emerald heard the word cake and just was like, here we go.
02:16 - I had a real beautiful moment, you know,
02:18 besides that, my phone is still very,
02:20 very eloquently presenting.
02:23 So hopefully you got that.
02:24 Thank you. - Yes, I did.
02:26 And Desmond, without giving too much away,
02:29 where would you say Nick falls in this
02:31 Lily love triangle, so to speak?
02:35 And will we see him kind of finding more of a voice
02:38 when it comes to his true feelings for her
02:40 in the second season?
02:42 - Yeah, look, you've given me a nice out there at the end
02:46 for not giving too much away
02:47 because I think really a lot of,
02:49 I think what's beautiful about the series is that
02:51 not, it's not just, it's not some forced love triangle.
02:54 There is some sort of, for Nick and Lily,
02:57 there's a character growth that in some ways
03:01 almost means growing together, who knows?
03:05 I think it's more of a factor of circumstance
03:09 and character growth than necessarily like,
03:10 these two people should be together,
03:12 which I think is really nice.
03:13 There's a reality to that.
03:15 And it feels better to be able to portray that
03:18 than in some sort of like arbitrary,
03:20 than rather than making it like some sort of arbitrary,
03:22 you know, narrative link up.
03:23 It does feel of the characters, yeah.
03:28 - I love that.
03:30 Well, hats off to y'all on a great second season
03:33 and thank you for your time today.
03:35 The first episode starts with a bang
03:37 for the relationship between Jorge and Henry,
03:40 but as time progresses,
03:41 we see your character kind of get cold feet, so to speak.
03:45 Why was it important to touch on the layers
03:47 of a relationship where there's your family
03:51 who is like super welcoming and supportive
03:53 and Henry's is kind of different than that?
03:57 - Yeah, I mean, I think that, well, first of all,
04:01 I think that the kind of cold feet motif is not universal,
04:06 but I think is widely relatable to many couples.
04:12 So I think that, I just think that that bit of it
04:18 was just true to life.
04:19 I think that it was just, I think that it was authentic.
04:22 And I think that, you know,
04:24 as far as Henry's parents are concerned
04:27 and his family and his world, you know,
04:30 I would say that, you know,
04:31 both families are very, very accepting
04:35 and excited about this new chapter in their life
04:39 and also just their relationship in general.
04:42 I think that it just speaks more to Jorge's neuroses
04:47 about he's not a calm, cool, and collected individual.
04:52 So I think that Henry very much is.
04:56 So Henry's assimilation into the Diaz family dynamic
05:00 was much easier just because of Henry's essence.
05:04 I think that Jorge's a little bit more difficult.
05:08 So I don't think it was a family issue.
05:10 I think it was just a Jorge issue.
05:13 - Which made it way more fun to watch
05:15 'cause I don't want to give it away.
05:17 But that's what made it so like, I'm being,
05:20 like it was entertaining for me as Vinny
05:22 to watch Mark play those moments as Jorge
05:26 and also to play Henry on the opposite end to watch,
05:28 you know, 'cause there's a whole bit
05:30 I don't want to give away that Henry and his parents
05:33 kind of put Jorge through.
05:35 It's, it also is, it shows like how families are different.
05:40 Like they just have different ways of showing their love
05:42 and affection for one another.
05:43 And that's ultimately what it ends up being about.
05:46 And I think it's fun that we play with that.
05:48 And then it's unfortunate that as a result,
05:50 we see the neuroses from Jorge come out, you know,
05:53 'cause he's usually out of 10, he's kind of,
05:55 and he gets like that.
05:57 But, but yeah, I think it's important that we show
06:01 that kind of effect that loved ones have on one another
06:04 in a relationship and what it feels like to actually
06:07 go through that challenge of meeting someone's parents
06:10 and family before you decide to move on in your relationship
06:15 and move forward in whatever that next step is.
06:17 So I thought we captured it pretty well.
06:20 And, and we, it was, it was just really fun
06:23 and super entertaining for us as the actors
06:26 to actually do it once we got it on its feet.
06:29 So that's definitely gonna be a highlight
06:31 for y'all for season two.
06:34 - Absolutely.
06:35 And speaking of season two as well, Vincent,
06:38 can you tell me just how do we see like the layers
06:41 of Henry pulled back by being introduced
06:45 to his family dynamic?
06:48 - Well, I think Henry starts to definitely
06:50 feel more relaxed.
06:51 Like, you know, Henry, we've learned from the first episode
06:54 of season one that Henry is, you know,
06:56 from a Filipino family and there's a lot of similarities
07:00 between a Filipino family dynamic
07:02 and a Latino family dynamic.
07:04 And so there's definitely that overlap,
07:06 but there's also the differences.
07:07 So in season two, we really see Henry relax
07:12 into belonging to the Diaz family dynamic.
07:15 And then we see that challenge that occurs
07:18 when Jorge meets Henry's parents.
07:21 But then ultimately at the end of the day,
07:23 it ends in love.
07:24 That's the through line.
07:25 So there's this, we were saying it earlier, Mark,
07:28 there's just this underlying acceptance, you know,
07:32 it's not just with our LGBTQ queer representation,
07:35 but there is this acceptance of one another
07:38 and where we're at.
07:39 And that goes for, you know, the loving relationships,
07:43 like the romantic relationships we have on the show,
07:45 as well as the familial.
07:46 And that really gets highlighted in season two.
07:49 So we're gonna go deeper into all those themes
07:52 and you're gonna hear conversations and moments
07:54 that we didn't see in season one.
07:56 And we also, season two is also a little hottier.
08:00 It's pretty exciting, sexy,
08:04 but yeah, it's pretty wild.
08:07 - I love that.
08:08 Well, thank you guys so much for your time today
08:10 and congratulations on season two.
08:13 In what ways do we see the relationship
08:16 between Saul and Dr. Miles Murphy evolve in season two?
08:21 - Yeah, so in this season,
08:23 you're gonna see a lot more conflict.
08:25 You're gonna see a lot more of, you know,
08:27 we're stepping out of the hospital
08:29 and a lot more of real life situations
08:31 of you're around my family now.
08:33 And what does that dynamic do?
08:35 How does that dynamic shift for my family and for you?
08:38 And seeing my dynamic with my family,
08:40 what would that do for you?
08:41 So you see a lot more conflict
08:44 and you'll see Miles learn a lot more
08:48 about because of that conflict.
08:49 But also you see them kind of like adjustable
08:52 for themselves to kind of continue to love each other,
08:57 but also to grow together.
08:58 - Absolutely.
09:00 And Todd, you know, what does your character teach you
09:03 about the nuances that come with love in this season?
09:07 - So much.
09:10 I think, you know, as human beings,
09:12 we just need to be really willing to communicate
09:15 and listen in relationships.
09:17 I find that to be the most important thing.
09:21 We need to stay in relationships, you know,
09:24 in life in general.
09:26 And so, you know, I think we see Miles and Saul
09:29 really get into that this season, you know,
09:31 and have like really important big conversations
09:35 in a really deep, authentic way
09:38 that we've never seen before on TV
09:40 and really come out stronger because of it.
09:43 And, you know, and I find that to be the same
09:47 in real life as well, you know.
09:50 - I definitely agree.
09:51 And, you know, Isis, one thing that I kind of noticed
09:54 is kind of foreshadowed in the first episode
09:57 is just, you know, you have your own things going on
10:00 in your relationship,
10:02 but still finding time to be there for Lily.
10:04 How would you say that your character balances that
10:08 in this season?
10:09 - In season two, okay.
10:11 - Yeah, in season two.
10:12 - I love in season two, you kind of see,
10:14 it was similar in season one of like the first episode
10:18 with our dynamic, Saul and Lily.
10:21 I just think being a good cousin, you know,
10:24 kind of being like the older sister Lily never had
10:28 or the older sibling Lily never had.
10:31 I know how that is because I'm the oldest sibling,
10:34 but I'm also the oldest cousin of my generation of cousins.
10:37 So I know that feeling when I was younger
10:41 that like everyone would ask me, or even my friends,
10:43 everyone would always ask me the advice.
10:46 So I fell into that naturally
10:49 because I feel like that's who Saul is.
10:51 They're the person that gives good advice,
10:54 is always grounded and kind of really helpful.
10:57 So I would feel like you would always go to a person
11:00 like that who you can trust and believe in their judgment.
11:04 - Absolutely.
11:06 And then lastly for you, Todd,
11:08 I wanted to know if you could describe season two
11:11 of "With Love" in either three words or a sentence,
11:15 what would you say?
11:16 - Hilarious, heartwarming,
11:22 and sexy.
11:25 - Ooh, I like that.
11:27 And Isis, do you have three words or a sentence?
11:29 - Yeah, I would say,
11:32 wait Tyra, you said heartwarming already?
11:34 - I did, but you know, we can just sort of say it.
11:38 - I would say loving,
11:40 chaotic,
11:43 and family.
11:46 - Yes, yes.
11:48 Well, thank you guys so much for your time
11:50 and congratulations on season two.
11:53 - Thank you so much.
