An Affordable Minivan with a Futuristic Look, New Hyundai Stargazer X Crossover Minivan 2024

Stargazer has an adventurous looking finish with 7.9 inches of ground clearance

The Stargazer X was unveiled at the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), a year after the standard model debuted. It retains the single-box proportions and the Staria-inspired full-width LEDs of the latter, but adds a few more adventurous pieces drawn from the world of crossovers and SUVs.

Changes to the front include a sculpted hood, wide grille with chrome accents and black trim around the split headlights with darker bezels. The profile is characterized by a generous plastic trim around the box-shaped wheel arches and around the side skirts, as well as a dual-tone 17-inch wheel set and additional roof rails. At the rear is a redesigned bumper with a spoiler extension and a distinctive skid plate surrounded by still unpainted plastic.

The SUV-inspired redesign allowed the Stargazer X to grow a bit in all dimensions, at 4,495 mm (177 inches) long, 1,815 mm (71.5 inches) wide and 1,710 mm (67.3 inches) high. The generous 200 mm (7.9 inches) ground clearance is increased by 15 mm (0.6 inches) compared to the standard model. As the Stargazer X remains a FWD-only affair, the extra ground-to-ground clearance and protective coating are the only elements that have a positive impact on off-road capability.

Predictably, there are no mechanical changes compared to the standard Stargazer. This means that the crossover variant retains the non-electric naturally aspirated 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine producing 113 hp (85 kW / 115 PS) and 144 Nm (106.2 lb-ft) of torque. The mill is paired with a 6-speed manual or automatic CVT that sends power to the front wheels.

Inside, the three-row cabin is available in 6-seat or 7-seat configurations, depending on whether you choose the second-row captain's seats. Amenities include an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 4.2-inch display in the instrument cluster, ambient lighting, a Bose audio system, a few ADAS and faux leather upholstery with red stitching. For family-friendly practicality, there is a hidden drawer in the front chest, illuminated cup holders, as well as pockets on the backs of the seats and folding tables. The trunk holds 200 liters (7.1 cubic feet) of cargo with all seats in place, but its capacity increases to 585 liters (20.7 cubic feet) with the third row folded down.

Hyundai Stargazer X is already available in Indonesia with prices starting from Rp. 338,600,000 ($22,160). Normal Stargazer starts as low as Rp. 259,600,000 ($16,990) because it's available with more budget-friendly gear with lower hardware compared to its crossover sibling.
