00:00 A really friendly cat just came up to me on the street.
00:06 He was like asking for pets and stuff and I was like, "Oh god, I can't leave him!"
00:10 when he started walking into traffic.
00:12 So I'm taking him to the 24-hour vet.
00:17 They didn't find a microchip.
00:19 He was rubbing himself on the woman who was scanning him.
00:24 He was sprawled out showing his belly.
00:27 He was so well behaved.
00:28 It's not like I was going to just put him back on the street.
00:31 I told the nurse, "I don't know what to do.
00:34 I don't have a cat.
00:36 I don't know how this works."
00:38 And she was like, "Hold on right there."
00:40 She gave me everything I would need.
00:43 I had my bike with me and now I had a cat.
00:47 So I just called the cat an Uber and I'm biking home because the cat and my bike can't fit
00:55 in the Uber.
00:56 Thank you so much for being my cat chauffeur.
00:59 Oh my god.
01:03 Kitty!
01:04 Finally back.
01:05 Get bed and food.
01:11 I don't think he was sure what our relationship was.
01:15 Come on out.
01:17 Clearly he looked like he had had a hard time on the streets and he has a little cut on
01:22 his ear and his face was so dirty and he seemed like too nice a guy to live out there.
01:27 Oh, there you are.
01:31 Hi.
01:32 Yeah, litter box.
01:34 Everyone loves the can pop.
01:35 I know.
01:36 Oh, someone's hungry.
01:37 Poor baby.
01:38 He was so hungry when he got out of the carrier.
01:45 It's like he hadn't eaten in days.
01:47 Kitty, you probably shouldn't eat all of it at once.
01:53 He just kept eating and eating and eating.
01:57 So he slept in the bathroom and he slept in his carrier mostly.
02:02 He seemed to really like that it was fuzzy.
02:05 Hey skinny boy.
02:08 Do you want love?
02:11 He was very needy and really wanted to be close to me.
02:16 Yes.
02:17 He just seemed to really want to be around us and to be loved.
02:23 And I saw his more playful side come out.
02:26 He seemed more relaxed.
02:29 He wasn't so desperate for food anymore.
02:32 He wasn't so worried.
02:35 It was a magic moment, but I was also really nervous that I wasn't doing the right thing.
02:41 I called my coworker, Lily.
02:43 We both work at the Dodo.
02:45 Her family has cats and I was hoping to get some cat advice and she helped me and comforted
02:51 me.
02:52 And I knew that Lily's parents were looking for an affectionate cat.
02:57 I'm going to take you to your new home.
03:04 And I met Lily in a Dunkin Donuts parking lot to do the handoff.
03:08 Hey girl.
03:09 Hi.
03:10 Name to be determined.
03:11 Yes.
03:12 All right.
03:13 You ready to go?
03:16 Put him in the car and tried not to cry and Gus went to his new home.
03:21 I guess he's here.
03:23 We're ready.
03:24 Look, we got a kitty cat.
03:27 I think we might, I think they're calling him Gus or Ginger Boy.
03:33 You were a rescue hopper.
03:34 Look.
03:35 What do you think, hopper?
03:36 Yeah.
03:37 Hi sweetie.
03:38 He's adapted very well.
03:39 So this is the big city?
03:40 Where were you anyway?
03:41 You under the bed?
03:42 He was when he first came in.
