As composer, writer, broadcaster and musician Neil Brand says, Laurel and Hardy are like the uncles that you look forward to seeing at Christmas parties, warm and familiar.
But you know that whatever happens, you will always have a better day than they will. After all, there are times when Laurel and Hardy struggle even to get through a door.
And that is a huge part of their charm, as Neil will explore at the Chichester International Film Festival at the Chichester Cinema at New Park on August 22.
