A man left passengers "gobsmacked" after he boarded a cross-country flight with his huge - Great Dane.

The owner had to pay for three seats - including his - so he could get the massive pooch to fit properly on the flight.

Owner Gabriel Bogner, 27, was travelling from Los Angeles, California, USA to New York City with his beloved dog Darwin, five.

Footage shows Darwin boarding the flight, taking a look in the cockpit and even saying hello to people in the row in front.

Gabriel, a start-up founder, was moving from LAX to New York's La Guardia and said this was Darwin's first time flying.

Gabriel said: "People were absolutely gob-smacked and shocked but everyone was so excited to see her.

"I’ve never seen so many smiling at an airport

"This was rare, [it was] her first time flying.

"There were no issues, she was great and the entire crew was amazing.

"They did joke that she got an upgrade and I didn’t but it was a very smooth trip."

The footage was captured on April 28.
