00:00 Riley Keough opens up about the status of her relationship with her grandmother, Priscilla
00:05 Presley, after Riley was named the sole trustee of her late mom, Lisa Marie Presley's estate.
00:12 "She's so level-headed.
00:14 I love her and she's much further advanced than I ever was."
00:18 The actress covers Vanity Fair's latest issue, and inside the mag, she recalls her mom's
00:24 untimely death.
00:25 "She always knew she wouldn't be here too long.
00:29 Now she is home where she always belonged, but my heart is missing her love."
00:34 Lisa, the only child of Elvis Presley, died in January at 54 years old from bowel obstruction
00:42 due to complications from a previous bariatric surgery.
00:47 Riley says Lisa's unexpected death sent her family into a state of chaos.
00:52 "Our heart is broken, Lisa.
00:54 We all love you."
00:56 Everyone was in a bit of a panic to understand how we move forward, and it just took a minute
01:00 to understand the details of the situation, because it's complicated.
01:06 Riley explains that there's a huge business side to their family, and they needed clarity
01:11 on how to handle it in the wake of Lisa Marie's death.
01:14 "The court is going to take into consideration what Lisa Marie wanted, and Lisa Marie clearly
01:19 wanted Riley to take over her estate and any business aspects therein."
01:25 A legal dispute ensued when Priscilla contested the authenticity and validity of Riley's appointment
01:31 as sole trustee of her late mom's estate.
01:34 But last week, Riley won the legal battle, telling Vanity Fair, "Clarity has been had,"
01:41 adding that things with her grandma will be happy.
01:44 They've never not been happy.
01:46 "Anything that would suggest otherwise in the press makes me sad because at the end
01:51 of the day, all she wants is to love and protect Graceland and the Presley family and the legacy.
01:59 That's her whole life."
02:00 "It is huge to live under the light of someone as big as Elvis.
02:07 It's a big responsibility."
02:09 As for Priscilla, she has shut down any speculation of a rift in the family, telling ET in a statement
02:16 in May that they are "stronger than ever."
02:19 Lisa Marie sold off most of the Elvis estate in 2004, but kept the family home.
02:25 "It's absolutely 100% mine.
02:27 Always has been mine, Graceland.
02:29 Always will be.
02:30 And when it's no longer mine, it will be my children's."
02:32 Now, Riley will own Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee, the home once owned by Elvis, which
02:38 he gave to Lisa Marie when he died.
02:41 Elvis is buried in the meditation garden on the property between his grandmother and his
02:46 father.
02:47 Elvis' mother, Lisa Marie, and her son, Riley's brother Benjamin, who died in 2020 at 27 by
02:54 suicide, are also buried in the garden.
02:58 Priscilla's future gravesite had reportedly been a point of contention in the legal negotiations,
03:03 with TMZ reporting in May that she had requested to be buried next to her late ex-husband.
03:09 Now legal docs state that Riley will, to the extent of her authority, allow Priscilla to
03:15 be buried in the garden, noting that Priscilla's burial location will be at the location closest
03:21 to Elvis Presley without moving any existing gravesite.
03:25 And Riley, she says she doesn't understand what all the drama in the press was about.
03:30 "I don't know why she wouldn't be buried at Graceland.
03:33 If she wants to be, of course.
03:35 Sharing Graceland with the world was her idea from the start."
