Spectator bans threatened after increase in referee abuse

A dramatic surge in abuse directed at match officials has major sporting codes on the brink of a mass referee exodus. It's forced Rugby Australia and other sporting bodies to threaten bans and harsher penalties for offenders to stop referees walking away from the game and keep community sport alive.
