Another diplomatic protest and note verbale filed against China. This time, for firing water cannons at Philippine vessels on their way to Ayungin Shoal.

The Chinese coast guard defends itself, and even accused the Philippines of intruding into China's territory. The Chinese coast guard insists, it acted in accordance with its duties to prevent Philippine vessels from carrying construction materials to Ayungin Shoal which China calls Renai Reef.
