Hello, I'm Cameron Reed and here are your Suffolk News headlines.
00:03
Shops built as part of a multi-million district council redevelopment project in Bury St Edmunds
00:09
are still standing empty more than four months after the project was completed.
00:14
The vacant shops are in a prime town centre location, occupying the ground floor of the
00:19
former post office development, fronting Cornhill, St Andrew Street South and the
00:23
widened market thoroughfare. All but one of the residential flats within the development have
00:29
either sold or been reserved but on the ground floor the two glass-fronted commercial units
00:34
remain empty. West Suffolk Council are welcoming interest from retailers and are open to proposals.
00:40
A county councillor has pledged his support towards the construction of a new 3G pitch
00:46
by allocating £2,000 from his locality budget to the project. The grant from Councillor Joe Mason
00:53
has been added to the £3,000 that Haverhill Town Council agreed to give to the facility,
00:59
now being built at the Newcroft when it met last month. It means the application for £5,000 made
01:05
to the Town Council by Haverhill Community Sports Association has now been met in full.
01:11
And our top story of the week, a village tea room and garden near Bury St Edmunds will open
01:18
its doors to visitors after nearly four decades of work. Porter's Lodge in Cavenham, which was
01:23
previously opened only once a year for a private fundraising event, will now be open every weekend
01:30
and give visitors a chance to explore its magical gardens and tea room. The property,
01:35
owned by Craig Winkle, will welcome guests from tomorrow and we're wishing them all the best with
01:40
it. That is everything for now, do check the Suffolk News website for more breaking news.
