00:00 >> What's going on, fellas?
00:08 >> How we doing, Rob?
00:09 >> Good, good, good.
00:10 >> Welcome to fight week.
00:11 It's a little earlier than we thought we were going to see you, but we're happy to see you.
00:14 How's things been?
00:16 >> I've been great, man.
00:17 I've been enjoying Nashville.
00:18 We got to hang out on the farm when we first got here and enjoy the wilderness and outside
00:25 and just the land, it was pretty cool.
00:28 >> I know everyone's thinking it's kind of unfortunate we don't get to see you in Boston,
00:32 but happy to have a main event, right?
00:34 >> Yeah, 100%.
00:35 You know, obviously we love fighting in Boston and, you know, it's convenient, it's easy,
00:39 but I've never been to Nashville.
00:42 We got another main event.
00:43 It's a big opportunity.
00:44 There's a lot of upside to this fight, so I'm not complaining.
00:48 >> What was the first thoughts going through your mind when UFC reached out, you know,
00:51 to kind of put you up against Corey here?
00:53 >> I get to eat two weeks earlier, you know.
00:55 I get to hang out and relax and, you know, I get there quicker.
01:00 >> Yeah, when you kind of look at what Corey's done in the Bantamweight division, it feels
01:03 like it's inevitable we're going to see you two fight at some point.
01:06 Kind of what do you think of what he's done in the UFC so far?
01:08 >> Oh, man, he's been killing it, you know.
01:10 Obviously, he's fought all the best guys out there, you know, so there's going to be ups
01:15 and downs when you're fighting the best guys, so we're kind of similar in that aspect.
01:19 He's technical, he's smooth, he's entertaining, you know.
01:22 The UFC knows what they're doing.
01:24 They put me and Corey in there.
01:25 It's going to be a fight of the night for sure.
01:27 >> Yeah.
01:28 You know, you mentioned ups and downs.
01:29 The fight against Adrian was a crazy fight for as long as it lasted.
01:32 Kind of just coming off of that victory, what was life like for you coming from that win
01:36 and kind of how you've been able to build on that momentum coming to this week?
01:39 >> Yeah, man, it was a must-needed win.
01:42 It was a great week.
01:44 You know, I love fighting in Florida.
01:46 It was awesome.
01:47 You know, I plan on recreating that same kind of intensity and same kind of action.
01:55 >> Fight with Corey Sandhagen, obviously, like, super technical guy, like a guy that
02:00 thinks about every strike that he's about to throw in there, you know, picks his angles
02:04 right.
02:06 What kind of guys have you brought in to emulate his style for this camp?
02:08 >> He's sitting right behind you, you know what I'm saying?
02:10 We got Calvin Cater in the building.
02:12 We got my boy Tommy Paggs in the back.
02:14 You know, yeah, I got a solid group that's always with me, you know.
02:19 So and then obviously all the boxers we work with out in Boston.
02:23 So I'm getting a lot of guys, a lot of different looks, and yeah, we're prepared.
02:28 >> What do you think of the division as a whole right now?
02:30 Because it seems like a lot of the division's booked up, right?
02:33 I mean, we could see Marab and Cejudo.
02:36 Obviously we've got Aljermaine and Sugar after this one.
02:38 I know a lot of guys don't like to look past the fight in front of them, but with all of
02:43 these guys being booked up, you get a win over Corey Sandhagen.
02:47 Could that possibly jump you right in line for the winner of all Joe and Sugar?
02:51 >> 100%, man.
02:52 You know, that's the plan.
02:53 Go out there, put on a show, get a finish, and head back to Boston and get that title
02:57 shot.
02:58 >> Is there any chance that this one goes a full five rounds?
03:00 >> I hope not, man.
03:01 I hope not.
03:02 You know, I want to get in, get out.
03:03 You know, Miami, I was planning on getting in, getting out as soon as possible, but I'm
03:08 prepared for five.
03:09 I want to finish as quick as possible, but I'm also prepared for five.
03:13 >> And how nice is it to have that extra five pounds this week?
03:16 >> That was awesome, man.
03:18 It was pretty cool.
03:19 You know, obviously they called.
03:20 They took -- I don't want to say they took, but, you know, we lost two weeks.
03:26 You know, we reached out, we asked for a couple things.
03:28 They said no to some and said yes to a couple, and, you know, I appreciate you, Dana.
03:34 >> Did Songs Camp reach out to you at all when the fight was canceled?
03:36 Like, hey, maybe we'll see you somewhere down the road or anything like that?
03:39 Or was there any communication?
03:40 >> Nah, those guys are rude, man.
03:41 They didn't say nothing, man.
03:42 Nah, nah, they didn't reach out, but it is what it is.
03:46 You know, hopefully, you know, he's recovered and whatever he's dealing with, he gets back
03:50 to it quick.
03:51 >> Cool.
03:52 >> Stylistically, for yourself, which matchup did you prefer more, the Song Yudong fight
04:00 or the Corey Sanehiga fight you've got now?
04:02 >> Man, they're all so tough.
04:04 You know, you got to kind of give the power advantage to Song.
04:08 You have to give the reach and the footwork to Corey.
04:13 You know, it's just -- it's tough, man, because they're all hard.
04:20 But you know, we got Corey.
04:22 We're focusing on him, and I'm prepared for Saturday night.
04:27 >> And you know, Sanehiga had mentioned that with him taking that fight with Umar, the
04:31 originally scheduled fight, that with a win, you know, of course, that he was next in line
04:36 for that number one spot.
04:37 Can you, you know, speak to what that might mean for you, you know, with you getting the
04:40 win on Saturday?
04:41 >> You know, we haven't officially spoke about that, like Sean or Dana, but you know, hopefully,
04:48 you know, I'm on that same page.
04:50 >> And then Sterling O'Malley, who do you got and who do you prefer to win?
04:57 >> I see -- I think if O'Malley doesn't -- I'm sorry, if Aljamein doesn't get hurt in the
05:02 first two rounds, I see him winning the decision.
05:07 >> Yeah, just one more back here.
05:09 >> Let's go.
05:10 >> What are you most looking forward to eating after the fight?
05:13 >> Oh, man, I'm looking for that Nashville hot chicken, you know.
05:18 I got to try it.
05:19 I heard the barbecue's pretty good out here.
05:20 I don't know.
05:21 What do you guys recommend?
05:22 >> Addy B's.
05:23 >> Say it again?
05:24 >> Addy B's.
05:25 >> Boom.
05:26 Where you going there?
05:27 Say less.
05:28 >> That's it for me.
05:29 >> Thank you, guys.
05:30 >> Thank you.
05:31 >> Thank you.
05:32 - Thanks guys.
