A Stylish Look at the EVs of the Future, New Pininfarina Pura Vision SUV Concept Introduced

The Pura Vision design concept will be unveiled to the public at Monterey Auto Week later this month.

Automobili Pininfarina has unveiled a brand new design concept called Pura Vision, which is said to usher in "a pioneering new era of electric luxury".

Defined as the Electric Luxury Commercial Vehicle (e-LUV), Pura Vision will inspire Automobili Pininfarina's new generation of fully electric luxury vehicles.

The new design work will be unveiled to the public at Monterey Auto Week (August 17-20), where it will be showcased alongside the Battista Edizione Nino Farina hyper GT and another new production vehicle from the brand.

Pura Vision is a big car. It is 205.3 inches (5.215 millimeters) long, 84.5 inches (2.147 mm) wide (including mirrors) and 64.6 inches (1,641 mm) high.

The concept combines classic proportions with elegant details, with a low hood and high fenders inspired by the iconic 1947 Cisitalia, the first vehicle to enter the collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.

Outside, highlights also include its narrow greenhouse, triple-opening pillarless doors, concealed headlights, ultra-slim daytime running lights and ultra-slim horizontal LED lights.

In contrast to the exposed carbon fiber lower elements and gloss black floating roof, the athletic body is painted in Bianco Sestriere Gloss. From the side, the Pura Vision has a strong stance thanks to its striking cabin-rear proportions, short overhangs and 23-inch alloy wheels painted in matt black.

Automobili Pininfarina's striking concept also features an innovative panoramic roof with a fixed "biscoto" center section illuminated by an LED lighting ring. This section connects the large windshield to the tailgate and also supports the large curved one-piece side windows that form part of the Saloon Door openings on either side.

The Pura Vision concept offers a bright, airy and inviting cabin between the flat floor and the panoramic glass roof. The interior is inspired by the world of luxury sailing yachts, with "floating" front seats suspended like the foil of a sailing ship and a center console resembling the boom of a sail.

The wide dashboard extends the lines of the hood into the cabin and houses an intuitive central touchscreen that rises from the console when required, advanced digital instruments and a head-up display, all configurable by the driver. In addition, speakers in the headrests provide separate sound zones for each passenger.

The mix of materials is gorgeous and includes charcoal leather, soft semi-aniline leather, special textile fabric, light carbon fiber and anodized aluminum – all come together to make Pura Vision's cabin a special place.
