Hey guys! So after some delay, I am finally reviewing the new high waisted flex leggings and sports bra from Gymshark! This is an UNSPONSORED Gymshark try on review that I bought with my own money, so all my opinions are honest! There was a lot of controversy on if these leggings fail the squat test, so I make sure to check if they are a squat proof fail in the video! 00:29 So today we're talking about
00:30 the Gymshark High Waisted Flex Set.
00:33 So this was a very hyped up thing for Gymshark.
00:36 Their flex leggings might be their most famous leggings.
00:41 I feel like they're kind of the original Gymshark leggings,
00:44 and they made them in a high-waisted form,
00:46 which is a lot more flattering
00:48 because the regular flex were never my favorite leggings
00:52 just because I felt like they were really,
00:53 like the waistband could really give you
00:56 a little muffin top, which isn't cute.
00:58 So these definitely help with that.
01:00 But yeah, we're gonna talk about how they fit,
01:03 if they are squat-proof,
01:04 because there was some tea on that honestly.
01:07 So we're gonna explore if these are as sheer
01:09 as some may have thought,
01:11 and just about everything else you need to know.
01:14 Starting out with the price,
01:15 these are $50 for the leggings and $35 for the sports bra.
01:19 So 35's like a decent price for a sports bra.
01:22 This is kind of like,
01:24 for a sports bra with this level of structure,
01:27 I would say it's probably on the upper to middle end.
01:31 So the original flex leggings were $38.
01:33 So 50 is definitely a step up from that.
01:36 And I know that Gymshark has kind of been raising
01:38 their prices recently.
01:40 Everyone who shops at Gymshark knows about that.
01:44 And also I know that at least for Canadian,
01:48 in Canadian dollars I think these leggings are like $90.
01:52 I have some people on Instagram
01:53 who message me about gym stuff,
01:54 and they're like, "Oh, this was $90."
01:57 I have friends all around the world who are saying
01:59 how expensive these are in other countries.
02:01 So just about the cheapest you can get them
02:03 is probably in the US, the UK,
02:05 and in the US they're $50.
02:08 The collection has a sports bra and the leggings,
02:11 and it comes in the khaki color, charcoal, marl, and black.
02:16 I do have to say I wish that they came out with a top,
02:19 because they almost always come out with a top
02:21 with their collection.
02:22 It's kind of weird for them just to come out
02:23 with a sports bra and leggings,
02:24 because some people do like to be more covered up
02:27 than in just a sports bra.
02:28 But yeah, so in this collection
02:30 you'll only be getting sports bra and leggings,
02:32 but you can always wear,
02:34 I guess they do have tops from the original Flex collection
02:37 that you can pair with these, but they won't be seamless.
02:40 As for the material the leggings are made out of,
02:42 they're made out of, I'm just gonna read it
02:44 because I'm not gonna memorize these numbers,
02:46 56% nylon, 39% polyester, and 5% elastane.
02:51 And compared to the original Flex,
02:53 the original Flex are 56% nylon, 41% polyester,
02:57 and 3% elastane.
03:00 So basically they're almost the exact same composition
03:03 as the original Flex leggings,
03:04 except slightly more elastane.
03:06 And how I feel about them is I feel like they feel
03:10 really close to the Flex leggings in the material.
03:14 They have the same marl texture,
03:15 it feels like the same thickness,
03:17 but they do feel a little bit more compressing
03:19 than the original Flex.
03:21 I don't know if that's just due to sizing.
03:23 The original Flex ran a little big.
03:26 These run pretty true to size/slightly small.
03:29 I wouldn't recommend going down a whole size,
03:31 but just know you are going to get kind of a snug fit
03:34 with your normal size of these leggings.
03:36 So compared to the original Gymshark Flex,
03:40 I would definitely say that these are a little flimsier,
03:43 and there's definitely more structure
03:45 to the high-waisted Flex,
03:46 so it's going to offer more compression.
03:49 It also, yeah, it just feels thicker.
03:51 Like I think that that look, even like you can kind of tell,
03:55 it's pretty close, but this,
03:57 the high-waisted Flex is definitely slightly thicker,
04:00 but they both have the marled texture.
04:02 And it's very similar, so I mean,
04:04 obviously if you had to compare it to a fabric,
04:06 I would compare it to the Flex, the original Flex,
04:09 but you're getting less, like, I don't know,
04:11 I had some like bagginess in these,
04:13 even though they were at the right size.
04:15 So you're getting a lot less bagginess
04:17 and more compression with the high-waisted Flex.
04:20 Continuing to talk about sizing,
04:22 this comes in, the leggings and the sports bra
04:24 both come in extra small to large,
04:27 and they fit, like I said, basically true to size,
04:29 if not a teeny bit small.
04:31 The waistband is nice and ribbed.
04:33 It's a decent height.
04:35 The waistband definitely offers compression, which I love,
04:39 but I definitely think that they've upgraded their waistbands
04:42 from like the Vile Seamless and the Ombre Seamless.
04:46 With those waistbands, they stretched out like really easily,
04:49 but with the Camo Seamless and this Flex,
04:52 the waistbands aren't stretching out.
04:53 They're holding their shape much better,
04:55 which I think is excellent
04:56 because who likes a baggy waistband, you know?
04:59 So it'll hold you in and the leggings will like stay up
05:03 and just, it's just that the waistband on this
05:06 is very, very good.
05:07 It's also very thick.
05:08 If you're looking for a waistband height comparison,
05:12 it is definitely shorter than the Vile Seamless waistband.
05:16 Yeah, so definitely if you don't like
05:18 how high the waistband is in the Vile Seamless,
05:23 the High-Waisted Flex definitely has a shorter waistband,
05:26 but it also has a waistband,
05:27 it's thicker than the Vile Seamless, as you can tell.
05:31 It's a thicker material and it's also more structured
05:33 and it's not going to stretch out as much.
05:35 So some of the details, the waistband is ribbed,
05:38 as you can tell, and it's very thick and compressing.
05:42 And the back, you have this little
05:45 Widow's Peak detailing little seam,
05:48 booty contour with the mesh material.
05:51 And here's the logo.
05:52 It's slightly raised, if you can tell,
05:55 like the little, these are slightly raised
05:58 and it's all ribbed and flush with the waistband.
06:02 So I really like that, actually.
06:04 One difference with the High-Waisted Flex
06:07 is that they don't have the mesh
06:09 that comes down to the leg,
06:11 which can kind of cut off the length of your leg, honestly.
06:14 So these are the original Flex
06:16 and the side mesh paneling comes down
06:19 and kind of like goes over your calf,
06:21 but it just continues on the side of the High-Waisted Flex.
06:25 So that's going to work to like elongate your legs a bit
06:28 and it's not going to cut off your leg line
06:31 like the original Flex.
06:32 So I definitely like that feature.
06:34 So now to the leggings.
06:36 I really love the waistband.
06:38 As you can see, it hits like right where your waist
06:41 should come in.
06:42 It's not too long.
06:45 It's not, it doesn't really look like
06:47 totally a separate waistband from the leggings.
06:49 It blends very seamlessly, which I like,
06:52 except for the side here, obviously.
06:55 People were kind of going on
06:56 about the sheerness of these leggings.
06:58 So this part is a mesh part.
07:01 Like you can see my hand there.
07:03 I don't even know if you can see my nail color,
07:05 but like I am wearing like a light pink underwear.
07:09 Maybe I'll try on like a darker pair
07:10 to see if we can see that.
07:12 But in terms of squat proofness,
07:14 it's like, it's very squat proof.

07:18 Like I did the test, I checked,
07:30 I have a ring light in front of here.
07:32 It's squat proof.
07:33 So I know that that was like a controversy for some people.
07:36 I don't know about the other shades.
07:38 I know the black specifically
07:39 was not supposed to be squat proof,
07:41 but the khaki is actually squat proof,
07:45 even though these are tiny bit tight.
07:48 The waistband, it feels a lot like
07:52 the camo seamless waistband.
07:54 So it doesn't feel like it's going to stretch out.
07:56 It feels like it's going to hold its shape very well,
07:59 which is important to me
08:00 'cause a lot of Gymshark things stretch out very easily.
08:03 Yeah, the booty contours,
08:06 they hit me in a pretty good place.
08:09 This hits slightly below my butt.
08:11 If it was just like a centimeter higher, that'd be better,
08:13 but maybe if I had a bigger butt, that would happen.
08:17 It has this little peak detailing.
08:19 Of course, the logo.
08:21 It definitely feels like there's some tightness
08:24 in the crotch.
08:25 Sometimes Gymshark, woo,
08:27 sometimes Gymshark seams aren't the most flexible seams.
08:31 Like if they could use a stretchier string,
08:34 that would probably be nice.
08:37 But I definitely do have that tightness in the crotch.
08:40 I actually think I already see.
08:41 There's already a little like,
08:43 oh, do you see this?
08:44 There's already a little string coming off.
08:47 So I don't love that.
08:52 I think they could've done a better job there.
08:54 But that's all honestly the same as the original Flex.
08:58 In terms of length,
09:01 the original Flex were too long on me
09:03 and I am 5'9", measurements in the description below.
09:07 And these fit like,
09:10 just perfectly.
09:11 Like they go right to my ankle.
09:12 They're full length, not 7/8.
09:14 If anything, there's actually a teeny bit of extra room.
09:17 There's like a lot more room for me on the regular Flex.
09:20 So I talked about squat proofness.
09:22 For me, these were definitely squat proof.
09:24 I can't speak to the other colors,
09:27 but I know that the black had some controversy.
09:29 But I mean, this is the lightest color
09:31 and these were squat proof.
09:32 So it's pretty good.
09:34 I did get a little bit of camel toe.
09:36 You can kind of tell from the try on.
09:37 I was like cringing a little bit watching it,
09:39 but it's not awful 'cause it doesn't have a front seam.
09:43 So it's not like, you know,
09:44 it's not doing the total double camel dividing it.
09:46 You know what I'm saying?
09:48 But there's definitely a little camel toe
09:49 just because of how seamless the fabric is, I feel like.
09:52 But I kind of get a teeny bit of camel toe
09:54 on all of Gymshark stuff
09:55 and you just kind of learn to live with it.
09:57 So I think that everyone's kind of over the, you know,
10:00 clickbait camel toe Gymshark videos.
10:03 Like we expect a little bit at this point.
10:05 Yeah, and as I was saying in the try on,
10:07 the seams here, they just feel very stiff.
10:11 And I definitely felt this in the original Flex as well.
10:14 Part of the reason why I don't love the Flex.
10:16 And I haven't even, like,
10:19 this is before working out in them guys.
10:21 And do you see, there's already like a little bit of,
10:24 where'd it go?
10:25 There's already like a little piece
10:27 of like the string coming off.
10:29 And I tend to like, if your thighs touch at all,
10:32 which like I do,
10:34 this like string will rub together and it'll kind of fray.
10:37 Like, let me show you my regular Flex.
10:39 Yeah, you can tell in the regular Flex
10:40 that the seams have kind of just,
10:43 like they're a little bit,
10:45 they're a little bit stringy, you know?
10:47 They've gotten a little fuzziness
10:49 'cause they're just rubbing together so much.
10:52 These aren't the kind of leggings that I would like,
10:55 so I'm a dancer.
10:56 These aren't the kind of leggings I would dance in
10:58 because I know that it's very restricting
11:00 to try to stretch in like, in a fabric like this.
11:03 So I'm trying to do the splits.
11:04 I really can't because the crotch
11:07 just won't really give me that room that I need.
11:10 But if you're just like going to the gym,
11:11 working out, not doing any crazy stretching,
11:14 which you know, you probably should stretch.
11:16 So I don't know.
11:17 I'm just saying, not the most room in the crotch.
11:19 But overall, I would give these leggings,
11:21 I think that Gymshark is definitely improving their quality,
11:24 but I would still give these leggings like an eight out of 10
11:27 just 'cause there are some things wrong with them.
11:29 I definitely prefer the camo seamless.
11:31 They were just, those leggings,
11:32 I really didn't have any complaints.
11:34 Really didn't.
11:35 For the sports bra,
11:36 the, it's the same material as the leggings,
11:39 adjustable straps, cute back detailing.
11:42 And as someone who has a larger chest,
11:45 this is a medium support.
11:46 I'm very surprised.
11:48 Very full coverage, no spilling or anything.
11:50 I definitely was very blown away by this sports bra.
11:53 I really thought I didn't like it,
11:54 but the fabric is just so,
11:56 it's so compressing in the top
11:58 and like, it just, it actually does provide some support,
12:01 which is pretty good for Gymshark sports bras.
12:04 Usually there's really no support going on.
12:06 I did take out the removable pads though,
12:08 because you could like see there were little circles.
12:10 That's not cute, not cute.
12:12 Okay, so first things first,
12:14 you can see the little pads don't really have a nice spot.
12:17 So those are just gonna come right out.
12:21 I always take the pads out of Gymshark things
12:24 because they're just so, so flimsy.
12:26 Like they really didn't think very hard about these pads.
12:30 I was expecting like absolutely zero support
12:33 given how open this back is and the spaghetti straps
12:36 and just like, just like this.
12:38 But it's actually like, you can tell
12:40 there's not too much jiggling going on,
12:42 which is like actually pretty good.
12:43 Like I totally thought this sports bra
12:45 was going to be like nothing for me,
12:47 but I actually would give this a medium support,
12:51 which I've ranted about Gymshark sports bras before.
12:54 So that's a big, that's a big move.
12:56 So obviously this is the khaki color.
12:59 These two materials are different,
13:01 but this is, it's like the material
13:04 that's like a mesh on the legging,
13:06 but it's a double layer, so it's thicker.
13:09 I know a lot of people like this tiny logo,
13:12 but I just kind of like, it's like the back is like Gymshark
13:15 and the front is like Gymshark, you know,
13:17 like very, I don't know, but not even really noticeable.
13:20 I think it'd be cuter
13:21 if they just put one of the little sharks.
13:23 I kind of like the little sharks,
13:25 but I think that they could have,
13:27 or just done without this.
13:29 I just think it's kind of nothing.
13:31 A lot of people also don't like
13:33 the big lettering on the back, but I do like it.
13:38 So first of all, this is in like a blush shade,
13:41 and I think it goes really nicely with the color,
13:44 with the khaki color, but yeah,
13:46 a lot of people don't really like it,
13:47 but I see what they were trying to do.
13:49 Let me grab the original Flex.
13:50 With the original Flex, they're so branded.
13:53 Like that's the big thing about these leggings
13:55 is how branded they are, I think.
13:58 Well, that and the booty contouring.
13:59 So I think they were trying to recreate that branding
14:02 in like a seamless way, and I think that this is,
14:06 I don't know, this is a better way to do it.
14:08 If you ask me, I think it's really cute.
14:10 It's in the back, it goes, the top and bottom go together.
14:13 I don't know, I'm a fan.
14:15 I'm a fan of the branding for sure.
14:18 The tops, the straps are also adjustable on the top,
14:20 which is nice, so if you don't want it to go up as high,
14:23 you can do that, but also this is like a,
14:25 like full coverage sports bra.
14:28 I'm not spilling out of the sides.
14:30 It's covering me completely on the top, so,
14:34 and I got the band on the bottom.
14:37 So I'm actually really happy with the top so far.
14:40 Yeah, the sports bra, I would also give,
14:43 I would give the sports bra a nine out of 10
14:45 if you're looking for a medium support sports bra.
14:46 I do think it's really cute, and I like the back a lot,
14:50 but the nine because I don't like the little Gymshark logo.
14:54 I just think it's kind of pointless.
14:55 I can't really even see it.
14:57 Not my favorite.
