00:18 Over the years, we've seen the web-slinger in many games varying in quality, with some

00:23 dating all the way back to the Atari 2600 and up to the PS5.

00:27 That had us wondering, what games starring our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man are the

00:31 very best?

00:55 Spider-Man Edge of Time Edge of Time was the follow-up to the much-beloved

01:08 Shattered Dimensions, so it had a lot to live up to.

01:11 Unlike Shattered Dimensions, Edge of Time only focuses on two of the Spider-Men, Peter

01:16 Parker and Miguel O'Hara, otherwise known as Spider-Man 2099.

01:21 Edge of Time has the duo's realities in danger with the Spider-Man taking on a new

01:25 threat across time and space while trying to prevent Peter Parker's death.

01:30 Edge of Time can seem a bit repetitive on the gameplay side of things.

01:34 Basic combat and bland arenas we find ourselves in leave much to the imagination.

01:38 The main draw of Edge of Time was having each Spidey affect both dimensions, but this was

01:44 done with little to no avail.

01:46 Despite these flaws, Edge of Time is a great story starring the Spidey we know and love

01:50 along with the fan-favorite 2099 version.

02:03 Spider-Man and Venom - Maximum Carnage Superhero games fit nicely into the beat-em-up

02:14 genre.

02:15 Maximum Carnage is a classic Spider-Man tale where Spider-Man and Venom team up to take

02:20 on Carnage.

02:21 Let's be honest, we don't care too much about the story in a beat-em-up, we just

02:25 want to punch bad guys in the face.

02:28 Maximum Carnage looks as close as a 16-bit game can look to a comic book with vibrant

02:32 colors and the pals and thwips popping up on screen.

02:36 Even New York's sense of scale is shown off here.

02:38 We'll start off fighting on the streets and then climbing buildings and eventually

02:42 taking on foes on the rooftop.

02:44 Oh, I forgot to mention, this is one of the rare LJN games that is actually good.

02:57 Spider-Man - Spider-Man has web-swung into many handheld games, and for the most part,

03:07 they were all pretty good.

03:08 But one stands above them all.

03:10 Spider-Man is a tie-in title to the now iconic 2002 Sam Raimi movie.

03:15 The game plays like a traditional beat-em-up, but unlike other classics, the animation feels

03:19 much more lively with Spider-Man having exaggerated animations with every punch and kick.

03:25 During the side-scrolling sections, we can climb on every surface and web-swing.

03:29 We can also web-swing in 3D, if you want to call it what the GBA can do, 3D.

03:39 Spider-Man - Web of Shadows Spider-Man games usually only let you do

03:51 good, but Web of Shadows has something of a morality system.

03:55 Venom is infecting New York with the symbiotes, and it's up to Spider-Man to save New York.

04:00 Usually, Spider-Man has to be the hero, but Web of Shadows allows you to take a more evil

04:05 path.

04:06 Depending on the decisions you make, the people of New York will act differently towards

04:10 Spidey.

04:11 The civilians aren't the only thing affected by your path.

04:14 If you're on the good path, you'll summon heroes to help you in fights, but if you take

04:18 the evil path, you'll summon villains.

04:20 Having the ability to shape Spidey is quite refreshing and gives us something new from

04:24 the web-slinger.

04:25 Spider-Man - Spider-Man Nowadays, we're used to seeing amazing superhero

04:40 games with the exception of Marvel's Avengers.

04:43 Before we got games like Batman Arkham Asylum and X-Men Legends, we got Spider-Man.

04:49 Spider-Man got the feeling of swinging throughout New York just right, despite the city not

04:54 being fully fleshed out, but it was a PS1 game, so we'll give it a pass.

04:59 Playing Spider-Man, we could say for the first time we truly felt like the web-slinger.

05:04 The combat felt like just what we imagined the comic books to feel like.

05:08 While Spider-Man was released on a handful of systems, the PS1 version is the fan favorite.

05:17 Spider-Man - Shattered Dimensions For fans of Into the Spider-Verse, Shattered

05:32 Dimensions is right up your alley, taking control of four different Spider-Men, each

05:37 feeling and looking unique.

05:39 The player takes on Mysterio as he attempts to steal the Tablet of Order and Chaos and

05:44 shatters it into pieces, with each piece going to different dimensions.

05:49 It's up to our four Spider-Men to find the pieces to save all dimensions.

05:53 Like I said, all the Spider-Men not only look different, but play different.

05:58 Amazing Spider-Man will play like our typical Spider-Man game, action-packed comic book

06:02 fun.

06:03 Noir Spider-Man focuses more on stealth with a nicer noir look to his levels.

06:09 Spider-Man 2099 plays similar to The Amazing Spider-Man, but has faster attacks and movement.

06:14 Finally, Ultimate Spider-Man is the powerhouse.

06:17 I mean, what did you expect with the symbiotes being involved?

06:25 Ultimate Spider-Man Ultimate Spider-Man oozes comic book style.

06:37 From the comic book-inspired cutscenes to the fast-paced combat, and an art style that

06:42 sets it apart from every other Spidey game.

06:45 Ultimate Spider-Man takes place three months after the events of the Ultimate Venom arc

06:49 and the comic series.

06:51 Eddie Brock is back, which means Venom is back too.

06:55 Being able to play both as Spidey and Venom really switches up the gameplay as well.

06:59 Spidey is fast and running around in the open world feels much more fluid compared to the

07:04 heavier, slower Venom, who is much more powerful and also a blast to play as.

07:16 Spider-Man 2 The Spider-Man game everyone loves.

07:26 Spider-Man 2 is based off of the Sam Raimi film, which makes it a movie tie-in that's

07:31 actually good.

07:33 What sets this apart from its predecessors is the focus on not only Spider-Man, but Peter

07:37 Parker.

07:38 Spider-Man 2's main claim to fame has to be the excellent web-swinging mechanics.

07:43 Other games had web-swinging, but nothing felt how we pictured swinging around New York

07:47 quite like Spider-Man 2.

07:49 Feeling the movement and realizing we're actually using buildings and not just magic blocks

07:54 in the sky added to the amazing experience.

08:07 Marvel's Spider-Man Insomniac's Spider-Man set a new bar for

08:19 what video game Spider-Man should feel like.

08:22 Nothing exceeded our expectations, from Spidey's movement swinging from building to building

08:26 to combat feeling fast and fluid while staying true to the hero's nature of Spidey not allowing

08:32 bad guys to fall off of building tops, to all the high-tech gadgets we get to play with.

08:37 This game features a seasoned Spider-Man who knows his powers and how to balance his responsibilities

08:42 as Spider-Man and Peter Parker… most of the time.

08:46 Not all is spectacular with this game, however.

08:49 There are some slower parts, like sneaking around as MJ and the weird puzzles at the

08:53 lab, but they're overshadowed by all the other great missions and events that take

08:57 place in New York.

09:06 Spider-Man - Miles Morales

09:16 How can the Spider-Man game be better than the first Insomniac Spider-Man game?

09:20 Well somehow, Insomniac pushed the bar even higher with Miles Morales.

09:25 Everything about this game will feel similar to the 2018 game, but more polished and refined.

09:30 Don't worry, this isn't the same game with a new coat of paint.

09:34 Miles feels vastly different from Peter.

09:36 While Peter is a seasoned vet at the Spider-Man gig, Miles is still feeling out his powers

09:41 and discovering new ones.

09:43 And when swinging around New York, you can feel Miles' learning as his movement is

09:47 more loose compared to Peter's tighter swings and jumps.

09:51 Spider-Man 2018 and Miles Morales are two of the best Spider-Man games to date, and

09:55 we can't wait to see how amazing Spider-Man 2 is going to be.
