The next-generation Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck is based on a new ladder frame chassis and is powered by a turbodiesel engine available in three power outputs.

Mitsubishi introduced the sixth generation of its popular Triton mid-size pickup truck, also marketed as the L200. This new model has been completely redesigned for the first time in 9 years, aimed at increasing its competitiveness against rivals such as the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux. The robust body has been slightly enlarged with greater emphasis on safety and comfort. In addition, it has a newly developed ladder-frame chassis, suspension and a more powerful turbodiesel engine.

The new Triton / L200 has a more angular and rugged look compared to its predecessor while retaining some key Mitsubishi features. Up front, the larger grille stands out, flanked by split headlights and a more discreet version of Mitsubishi's Dynamic Shield. The flagship trim features a body-colored grille and black instead of chrome accents. The profile has more sculpted lines on the fenders and a greenhouse very similar to the Nissan Navara, hinting at the relationship between the two pickups. At the rear are larger LED taillights that extend all the way to the profile.

In terms of practicality, Mitsubishi talks about larger and more durable door handles, wider side steps with improved water drainage, a lower cargo bed height of 820 mm (32.3 inches), and solid steps integrated into the rear bumper.

On the inside, the Triton looks more like an SUV than a pickup in terms of design and features. The dashboard features an Outlander-sourced infotainment display, a display between analog gauges, airplane-style controls, soft-padded materials in the touch points, a wireless charging pad, and storage compartments in the center console and horizontal lines.

In addition, available Mitsubishi Connect features include remote control of the air conditioning, headlights and horn from the user's smartphone. Safety equipment has also been greatly improved with the ADAS package, which now includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Avoidance, Blind Spot Warning, Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, among other systems. All pavements come standard with Active Stability and Traction Control (ASTC), which is said to improve stability on winding roads.

Power is transmitted to all four wheels via a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. In addition to a lockable center differential, the truck comes equipped with the Easy Select 4WD or Super Sepect 4WD-II system with a limited-slip differential. In addition, the driver has access to selectable Normal, Eco, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand and Rock driving modes.
