Semele Official Trailer Glyndebourne
In Handel’s Semele the eponymous princess is a flighty, narcissistic young woman whose demand to see her lover Jove in all his divine glory and to join the immortals proves her downfall. That at least is how the story is usually presented. But director Adele Thomas, in her new production at Glyndebourne – imaginatively designed by Annemarie Woods, who did the sets, and Hannah Clark on costumes, lit by Peter Mumford – invites us to look at the myth a different way.
