00:02 and Claire has been captured by the British.

00:04 Claire went to look for one of her patients.

00:06 She never came back.

00:10 She gets brought back by the British Army

00:12 to Ticonderoga, which they have now taken over.

00:17 There's very little there.

00:19 Claire is sort of put away with the rest of the prisoners,

00:24 and there she sees Walter again.

00:26 He has blood clots, basically,

00:29 that she diagnoses, and she knows that this is fatal.

00:32 There's a really moving and poignant scene

00:35 between the two of them,

00:37 where she has to kind of sit with him

00:39 in his final moments.

00:40 We start with what's on the page,

00:42 and we build from there, and she came in

00:44 with a bunch of ideas that just made the scene better.

00:48 What she brings every single day is perfect.

01:04 who is, of course, as we know, Jamie Fraser's son,

01:08 played wonderfully by Charles Van Der Vaart.

01:10 I am Lieutenant Lord Ellesmere, William Ransom.

01:13 I visited your home on Fraser's Ridge when I was still a boy.

01:16 You saved my father's life.

01:18 It was so lovely. I think it was my first scenes with Charles,

01:22 and he's just such an absolute sweetheart.

01:25 He's an absolute hunk for all you ladies out there.

01:29 It was such a pleasure to work with him,

01:30 and he's such a great addition to the cast.

01:33 He is a star in the making.

01:37 He's so open.

01:38 The way he absorbs notes or comments,

01:42 and then applies them, it's absolutely extraordinary.

01:45 On my honor, I shall let you go.

01:48 I'm not going anywhere without her.

01:50 The lady stays. She is a prisoner of His Majesty the King.

01:53 Ian saved his life, and I think he,

01:55 you know, in one way or another, he owes him.

01:57 I think on one hand, he wants to fulfill his duty

02:00 as a lieutenant, but on the other hand,

02:02 I think he has a great deal of respect for Claire and for Ian.

02:06 A life for a life, Mr. Murray. Or quits.

02:11 He decides to let them go,

02:14 and sacrifice, I guess, his duty for that honor.

02:17 I think for Ian, the ultimate decision

02:22 to show his love for Rachel is when he entrusts her

02:26 with his lovely canine friend, Rolo.

02:28 I think that's his way of saying to her, "I'll be back."

02:31 She does this big favor for him, which is looking after Rolo.

02:34 She's not maybe quite aware of quite how she feels yet,

02:37 but she just knows she's very, very drawn to him,

02:39 and there's just something about him.

02:41 I think we probably sound like crazy people on set together.

02:43 We're just absolute nonsense.

02:45 We're just laughing all the time.

02:47 And I think that really comes across.

02:48 She's really special.

02:49 If you ever find yourself unable to sleep at night,

02:51 I'll let you take Rolo.

02:53 Aren't I the lucky one?

02:54 Barry O'Connor, who plays Captain Morgan, is fantastic.

03:01 He's a very tall man, which is strange for me

03:03 to be standing next to someone that's taller than me.

03:05 He's a very charismatic character,

03:08 but also, Barry's a very charismatic actor.

03:10 Come with me, and I'll be sure you're well taken care of.

03:13 And bring your rifle.

03:15 Jamie willingly goes with him,

03:17 and I think there's a great understanding

03:19 and possibly a friendship there.

03:21 You're my man.

03:24 You were a teacher once, weren't you?

03:26 This proposal is put at his feet to teach Gaelic.

03:29 I just think it gives him a real sense of purpose,

03:31 and finally, he's finding his footing in this place.

03:55 Having Buck McKenzie around has, I think,

03:58 added a lot to the story.

03:59 It was kind of Buck's fault that Roger got hanged.

04:02 You immediately feel a sense of potential

04:05 when these characters start to come on the scene,

04:07 whereas this could go anywhere.

04:09 What the hell do you think you're doing?

04:11 It was a fun one to play.

04:13 Dermot is a brilliant actor.

04:14 He plays-- I think he plays Buck brilliantly.

04:17 So I've been having a lot of fun with him.
