As of Census 2011, there were 17.2 crore Muslims in the country, constituting 14.2% of India's total population. The projected Muslim population in 2023 is based on the same proportion. 2023 Total population of India in projected to 138.8 crore. Muslim Population would be around 19.7 crore. Same percentage as in 2011.
