00:00 Hot dog. It's National Hot Dog Day and who best can we celebrate with than a short leash
00:07 hot dogs and their worst hot dog fest. But it's not what we're thinking of a worst hot
00:13 dog. We're talking delicious hot dogs. Of course. But before we go any further, Brad,
00:17 getting great names here. Let's talk a little about short leash hot dogs because I met you
00:22 guys when you're down in the Roosevelt District, the first little place to open. Yeah. And
00:26 you guys had a little twist on hot dogs. It was not your traditional coming there, ketchup,
00:31 mustard, relish, Chicago, whatever kind of hot dog. You took it to a whole new level.
00:35 We'll do that, but we don't like it. We don't like it. We've always said we'd like to do
00:39 a unique twist on a classic favorite. So we do. All of our hot dogs are served on non
00:42 holds up all the size of the dog. And we get a little crazy with some of the topping combinations.
00:47 That's why this worst hot dog competition is so important to your menu. Also to hot
00:54 dog lovers everywhere. Yes. And that's because you've actually opened it up to the public
00:59 to do what? So for the last three weeks, we've had a ongoing hot dog topping contest. We've
01:04 gotten over 200 entries. So on Saturday, we've picked four. We're going to serve those four
01:09 along with some beer pairings from Renthouse Brewery. It's going to be a lot of fun. I
01:14 love it. OK, we got a couple here that are these are these ones of yours or these? These
01:18 are no, these are mainstays on our menu, but they were kind of classic summertime. Perfect
01:23 for this brutal heat that we're going through. OK, so what do we have down here? So this
01:27 is kind of classic Americana baseball season. So it's peanut butter, cracker jack, smoked
01:31 Gouda bacon. Sounds weird, but I always say if you like Thai food, kind of marries together
01:35 like a type. Oh, my gosh. And what kind of hot dogs is there? That's a spicy link. Oh,
01:40 spicy. Oh, you want to show it off? Sorry. No, no, you're OK. I don't want to slide anywhere.
01:46 But there we go. Like everyone you mentioned hot dogs around here. People just go berserk.
01:49 They don't understand. OK, what's our next one? This one's kind of a Hawaiian style.
01:53 So it's a mango chutney. We make it in-house. It's mango, papaya, a little bit of onion,
01:57 pepper, a little drizzle of mayonnaise just for a little creamy texture. Sweet and spicy
02:01 combination. All right. And then down here and then down there is our sunny. It is a
02:05 regular grilled peaches because those are in season right now. Prosciutto, goat cheese,
02:11 little honey drizzled on top. Yeah, this is awesome. OK, thank you. You also have hot
02:15 dogs. I mean, hot dogs. You also have hamburgers there. No hamburgers. Donuts. Donuts. Yeah,
02:19 I'm sorry. I got thrown off the hot dogs because I'm like, I want one so bad right now. So
02:24 this smells good. Donuts. Yeah. Donuts. Yeah. We do scratch made donuts in the morning and
02:28 we do again kind of just with the unique twist. We have a lot of fun flavors with the whiskey
02:34 infused. We have orange pistachio, a whole bunch of fun stuff. I love it. OK, Brad, let's
02:39 talk about, of course, the worst festival and how this all works. So do people have
02:43 to they come in. Right. That's it. They show up. That's it. Yeah. We've taken care of all
02:48 the other stuff. So how many hot dogs will all be out there? No, no, no. Just the four
02:52 that we selected, you know, every now and then you get some kind of boring hot dog submission.
02:56 So we really will. Again, we're looking for the fun stuff. So what was the most boring
02:59 hot dogs? Go ahead. Every now and then you get just ketchup, mustard, relish. It's like
03:03 that. You know, that's someone put it. Someone actually put that in. You would be amazed.
03:07 You would be amazed. Ketchup, mustard, relish. Yes. So nothing else in there. No pickles.
03:11 We have all that stuff. Onions or anything like that. We don't like to do it, but we
03:14 will. All right. What's the most craziest you've gotten so far? So I will. A couple
03:18 that are I'm really are going to be fun this weekend. We were doing like a French onion
03:22 soup dog. It's like a French baguette and chopped up dog. French onion soup. OK. We're
03:26 also doing another one. It's a croque madame. So it's got wrapped in ham, fried and all
03:32 bechamel sauce. Also, to get in. Is it too late to get in? Yeah. So I was, you know,
03:37 I was thinking I could see right now I could see my hot dog with some crumble cookies on
03:42 it. OK, then some popcorn, a little collab with a club like everybody and then throw
03:47 a little spicy on. I like this idea. You like that. And I would use the hot dog. We could
03:51 squeeze in a last minute submission. Can I do that? Yeah. Yeah. Infuse the hot dog with
03:55 a little whiskey whiskey in the wild. A little strawberry and like a little injector on the
03:59 side and they can just do it themselves. When that one look at this. I like some mind meld
04:03 also to you have all the fun swag, all kinds of stuff that goes on there. The one thing
04:07 I love that you do is really big and that's not until next year in the spring. And that's
04:11 your Pinewood Derby. Yeah. So awesome. Thank you. Thank you. We've been doing that for
04:16 nine years now. Yeah. I believe it. And it's getting bigger and bigger. So much fun. What
04:20 are we going to get to the real derby cars for this thing? Arizona's too flat. We could
04:25 build we could build. We'll take it to Snowball or someplace like that. All right. We know
04:29 you guys are not open today. What days are you open? We are only open Friday, Saturday,
04:33 Sunday. So Friday and Saturday, nine in the morning till eight at night and then Sunday
04:36 nine to two. So that's why we think National Hot Dog Day deserves a Saturday. Every day
04:41 is National Hot Dog Day. I'm telling you right now. And if you want to, you can actually
04:45 just grab a hot dog and go sit in your car. That's what you don't sit in the car. Put
04:49 the hot dog in the car. Walk away for five minutes. Five minutes. Come back and you got
04:52 a nice five minutes. Max. There it is. Brad, tell me where they can find more. We are on
04:57 Seventh Avenue just north of Indian School, right on the Melrose Curve, right in the Melrose
05:01 District. There you go. And the website is? Shortleashhotdogs.com. Super simple.
